Small at 7 weeks- any success stories to boost my PMA??

Post by qita71 »

Hi all

Congratulations to all on getting here :D I have not been over to this board yet but figure it may be more appropriate now...

I am just back from my second scan. According to my clinic I should be 7 weeks today, however, the measurements are that of a 6 week 2 day baby (last week I was scanned at what should have been 6 weeks and was told the baby was measuring 5 weeks and 5 days). We heard the heartbeat- it was 109/110bpm which the clinic seemed happy with. I am to wait another week and go back for another scan- I have also been put on Prednisolone and Innohep (in addition to my usual progesterone, oestrogen and baby aspirin). Having previously miscarried at 7 weeks what I was told was a baby that was measuring slightly small I am pretty scared. Think I am going to take it very easy this week, no walks or anything.

Can anyone give me any advice or share any similar experiences?

Many thanks in advance,

Mairi Anne

COngratulations on your baby! I am sorry you have yet another reason to worry. Some of the scans they use are not super accurate and at this stage even a tid bit of a mispacement of an arrow will cause a difference in age. If the HB was strong and the baby is growing you should probably be fine, but I am not an expert! I will send you much healthy baby dust for great growth and no worries for you!

Mairi Anne, congrats on your pregnancy!! I was measuring 4 days behind during week 8 at my OB's office, and was told that being off by a week was considered okay. I know how you feel, though. I was scared and anxious that my baby may stop growing any moment. 3 days later, at 9 weeks exactly, I scheduled an appointment with my RE to confirm the baby was still doing well. It was still measuring behind, but had a good, strong heartbeat. Here I am, week 18, and the belly is still growing, so I'm hoping everything is going well in there. I'm hoping you're in the same boat. The H/R you mentioned sounds right on track for a 7 week old, so I'm hoping everything will be okay. Good luck!

Dear Rio and Hope,

An update.... I had to go to my clinic today for the every second day IM injection I have, I had got my knickers in a bit of a twist as I had been having tummy cramps for the last 24 hours so they did another ultrasound.... and I am delighted to report that all is GREAT!!!! Heart beat was up at 126 bpm and they said I was measuring at 6 weeks 5 days (0.83cm CRL) rather than the 7 weeks 2 days I should but that there is scope for the measurements to be out by 4/5 days and I am within that. Also said the cramping will be the Innohep injections I have been taking daily since Sunday night. Am so so so relieved. So, I am to go back next Sunday as planned for another scan.

Thank you for your support- much appreciated.

Mairi Anne
