Small at 7 weeks- any advice much appreciated

Post by qita71 »

Hi all

I am just back from my second scan. According to my clinic I should be 7 weeks today, however, the measurements are that of a 6 week 2 day baby. We heard the heartbeat- it was 109/110bpm which the clinic seemed happy with. I am to wait another week and go back for another scan. Having previously miscarried at 7 weeks what I was told was a baby that was measuring slightly small I am pretty scared. Think I am going to take it very easy this week, no walks or anything.

Can anyone give me any advice or share any similar experiences?

Many thanks in advance,

Mairi Anne

Hello qita71

So sorry to read your post- it is hard waiting till the next scan but I think it is good that the baby's heartbeat is strong. I don't have any directly similiar experience to share with you but I just wanted to share with you that my clinic does use extra meds such as steroids, heparin + aspirin and and in some cases they give hcg injections to support pregnancies that are measuring slightly behind.

Take it easy this week and you are in my prayers.

Hi Quita,

I saw your post and just wanted to let know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. You are not alone - this week will be tough - stay strong and try to stay distracted (I know easier said than done).

Be well!

Dear Joyanna, Michelle and Blueye

An update.... I had to go to my clinic today for the every second day IM injection I have, I had got my knickers in a bit of a twist as I had been having tummy cramps for the last 24 hours so they did another ultrasound.... and I am delighted to report that all is GREAT!!!! Heart beat was up at 126 bpm and they said I was measuring at 6 weeks 5 days (0.83cm CRL) rather than the 7 weeks 2 days I should but that there is scope for the measurements to be out by 4/5 days and I am within that. Also said the cramping will be the Innohep injections I have been taking daily since Sunday night. Am so so so relieved. So, I am to go back next Sunday as planned for another scan.

Thank you for your support- much appreciated.

Mairi Anne

Sorry to hear that you are going through this. I had to go through something very similar, my story did not end positively, but we were measuring over a week behind. I have heard of many people measuring a few days behind and the next scan their little one had caught up. Don't give up hope!
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!

qita71 - that is just great news, it so reassuring to see strong heartbeat. Am praying like mad here for you . Try and relax as much as you can, I know that is so much easier said than done. Maybe try and get stuck into a good book !

Great news x
