Some of you may find this a little crazy but with the whole disposable diaper/cloth discussion we are having here I thought I would throw this out there. I had never heard of it before or I would have tried it with our son.

http://www.diaperfreebaby.org/

Some people do it continuosly while others just do it when they are home, if you are going to be a SAHM it might actually work. I was thinking of trying it partially (when I am at home) and maybe even seeing if my MIL who will be watching her for a couple of months would do it. Also look for it on youtube and there are videos of parents coaxing their tiny ones to go potty and it works! Of course I realize this is not for everyone but I figure if it cuts my diapers cost by a little it is worth it. Plus after potty training so many puppies the principle is similar, timing, timing!

Blair - if you had talked to me about getting used stuff before I would have frowned too but there are things out there that are barely used and so easy to clean. Ask for target or babies r us certificates too! I admit the description of the doc reaching in to grab the baby by the feet made me queasy!

Leora - can't wait to find out the sex of your twixies! Take good care of yourself and drink lots of fluids and try to eat what you can.

Bakers - congrats on baby boy!

nwquiz Hey I am soooooo Happppppppy you are here with us and congrats on HB!

babyblue - wow those boys are big! Good job baking those little football players! I second Leora on the recovery from c-sec sucking! Good luck on your glucose test!

Amanda Yeay for watching your grandbaby! just take it easy!

Blair: I agree... Used stuff is good stuff. Most baby items that have fabric can be completely stripped down and washed. My SIL gave us a car seat and I was stunned at how easy it was to clean - it looks totally new now. The same with our stroller. Crib and mattress are the things that I didn't want used. For one, I wanted the safest, most up-to-date crib and I was pretty specific about the quality of the mattress.

Leora: I can't sing the praises of water enough. I've had an extremely healthy pregnancy and I attribute a lot of that to the high volume of water that I drink daily. Don't worry about peeing too much... You will at first but you'll get to a break-through point where you pee no more than other people (or, in our case, other pregnant people). This might be TMI but to check on how my water/nutrient/salts are doing, I keep an eye on my urine color.

nwquiz: Welcome and congrats!

AFM: 35 Weeks! I really don't believe that Brooke is going to make her due date... She seems too active, strong and big to remain another 5 weeks. Her awake and active periods are now about 3-4 hours long which I didn't expect. Also, she kicks so hard that I get concerned that she'll break my lower ribs. While I am thrilled that she's so robust, she can be painful. My guess is that she'll come at 38 weeks.

I'm still healthy and am incredibly active... I have to really try hard to take breaks to avoid too many BH contractions. The nursery is done, the baby shower has been had, the hospital bag is packed... Now, we're just waiting to meet our baby.

**So sorry I have been MIA....bed rest has gotten me kind of down. I will do my best with personals:

Stephanie: Love the bump picture!! Helps me see what I am in store for ;-) You are doing so great!! 34 weeks...the final stretch for you indeed...so exciting. And so glad to hear both boys are nice and big and “getting ready” to meet you!! Hoping the labor and delivery works out for you and that your glucose test goes well today.

Lou: Hope that you are having a wonderful vacation

Kat: Hope that the morning sickness isn’t too bad. Have you tried switching toothpaste brands? I have found some bother me more than others. Sorry to hear about your nightmare with your 1st pregnancy...but glad you have a heads up with MFM early.

Blair: The book about expecting Twins, Triplets, and Quads? I got that one too right away and was also worrying about that early weight gain. I am just now (at 14 weeks) starting to put on, and by starting, I mean, I am up 1 lb pre-pregancy (I initially lost 5 and have FINALLY gained those back plus 1). I don’t have as much as you to gain, but I still have a lot to get to “24 by 24” since I was supposed to have gained 8-12 already. You do what you can do. My appetite is finally coming back as my m/s is slowly dissipating (thank goodness there!)

Ashley: Gosh. A lot of changes. Good and difficult. I’m glad to hear your mom will be with you after baby is born. Hopefully there will be a steady flow of family visitors during that first year so you won’t even have to think about traveling!

kjm: How’d the car buying go? Did you get the SUV? Happy with it? And how’d the golfing go..you are brave! LOL

Ryann: So sorry you are so uncomfortable. Left side is “best” anyway, so that is good that you feel best in that position. Bouncing on the bladder, huh, oh my! I can’t wait!? And poor Sox with a broken toe...I am sure it is difficult indeed to keep him from chewing it, the poor dear. Oops! I see your next post--he did chew it off, huh? I am sure he will be fine. Dogs, puppies especially heal very easily. And wow--nursery is getting ready! How exciting! Those floors look beautiful!! Great job DH!!! How are you holding up with bed rest?

Kay: Congratulations on Team Blue! How exciting to know and be able to buy things. :-) I am hoping we find out genders at our next scan in 2 weeks.

Kelly: You too! Congrats on Team Blue--even if Chinese were wrong. LOL.

Barbara: You look great! Wonderful bump!! And you are so ready!

Rio: Glad that all is A-OK. And yes, you need to slow down, my friend! You are 30 weeks preggo, remember? LOL. It is hard for those of us that are used to doing it all (believe me, I know) to slow down and let some things go or let other’s help, but for your sake and Baby Girl’s you gotta.

Mellow: I check on you and little Marlo everyday on your blog. She is such an adorable little fighter! I love how she was kicking you and grabbing at things. She has a strong and sweet spirit!

Nwquiz: WELCOME!!!!! SO very happy to have you join us!!!

Leora: So glad to hear you are doing well and that you enjoyed Aquacise! I am trying to find a prenatal class in my area, and despite being in a large city I can’t find a single one! Maybe I can join a “regular” water class and just explain my circumstances...hm...that is if I ever get off bed rest. Let me know what your doctor says tomorrow after your appt. Hopefully you get a “good” peek at their genders! I can’t wait to hear your news!! And please drink those fluids and take care of yourself, dear.

Anna: How are you doing? Hanging in there during your final stretch? Hope you are feeling ok.

Amanda: Sounds like you are getting really ready! Hope that this weekend goes well with the family...and the sewing!

AFM: Sigh. Still confined to my bed. It is "modified" bed rest, so I am not completely confined to my bed, but whenever I overdo it--even around the house--I get a bleed. I have had 2 bleeds in the past 2 weeks (plus daily spotting-sorry for TMI), so OB is giving me another 4 weeks at home in the bed to see if we can get this hematoma to resolve. He was scaring us a bit talking about if it doesn't resolve then we will be worrying about pre-term labor and displacing the placenta, and other horrible things...so I am hoping and praying that it GOES AWAY. Sigh. It is no fun at all being bound to the bed/couch but I will do whatever is necessary to keep these two little "peaches" safe.

On the positive side, my m/s is starting to go away--yea! And my appetite is improving. I have gained a whopping 1 lb (lost 5, finally gained back 6) but anticipate gaining much more rapidly in the second trimester. Which is where I am. YEAH! Also, my OB told me on Monday that he is getting a new 3D/4D machine, so at my next appt--in 2 weeks, we will get to see the peaches in 3D!! That will be exciting! And I assume, unless someone is being very shy, that we should be able to get some genders identified

DH is being very sweet and supportive. He is working from home most days so that I don't go completely crazy alone. Some days are better than others. On some days I worry that I might lose them both because of this stupid SCH and other days I am more relaxed and can tell myself that most of the time these turn out alright. This pregnancy is certainly not going as I had "anticipated". I have been on bed rest 7 weeks so far (exactly half my pregnancy), with 4 more ahead--at least. That is mainly why I haven't been on here. Don't want to be "droopy" while everyone has such wonderful news. Sorry ladies. I am sending you all positive energy, thoughts and prayers, even when I don't get on to express them.

Margi- so sorry you are going through all that. It's not easy especially being on bedrest so early. Prayers that it resolves really fast for you. That is so sweet of DH to stay home with you.

Blair hoping you get in on Friday with the MFM. Can't wait to see belly pics.

Nwwhiz so glad you cam over to join us. Soo happy for you :)

Leora- geesh that must have been a scare getting all fainty. Glad it turned out ok. Can not wait to see belly picks. Hurry and find a camera.

Happy Bunny- Hopefully she comes at 38 weeks. No one truly really wants to go the full 40 weeks. :P

Riogrl thank you for the information.

AFM: The meeting with MFM went well. They plan on taking the baby at 36 weeks possibly 37 weeks but since I had a classic c-section they dont' like to go beyond that since labor can kill me and baby. So lots and lots of ultrasounds will be had. I've been put on lovenox plus staying with the aspirin. She looked at my medical records and after reviewing and discussing she really feels that it wasn't Fifth's Disease that caused my complications with my 2nd. She feels that the pinched nerve I was told was causing my leg pain and losing use of it was in fact a blood clots. ( I was home on bed rest because of a pinched nerve and within a week of being on bed rest I started getting flu like symptoms) She said if a Mother has blood clots it can cause severe hydrops in the baby. I tested negative for Fifth's Disease so she doesn't see how or why they said that was the cause. So with that said it looks like my 3 blood clots in my lungs were there prior to surgery not after. I didn't get a peak as they were super busy and since I just had one last week and a strong heartbeat was detected there was no reason for her to do another. Plus I have one on Tuesday. Boo:( but I do feel fine and Tuesday will be here before I know.

Hopefully you all have great Memorial Day Plans! Its was supposed to be crappy weather for us and now it looks like 80's and mostly sunny. I'm super excited!

Thanks ladies for the warm welcome. Rio, Blair, Leorira, Klinger, Baby blu, happy bunny,Margi and sweatpea not forgetting all the other wonderful ladies on this board thanks and i hope to share more with you all as i settle in. It still does not settled home yet that i might actually be having a baby in january 2012. but looking forward to it.
Rio as for used items, i have been looking around on craigslist and yard sales coz i loved going around just to pass time on saturday morning and i agree there are so many unused baby items for sale. i always looked at them at yard sales and wondered why ppl buy so much if they dont use them. But i guess now that i will be in need of them i bet i wond find as many things this summer during yard sales.
As for diapers someone told me to always look at the daily paper in your area for stores that have sales then combine the sale with coupons and you get real cheap diapers. Not realy sure how that works but something to think about.
Some of you ladies are almost done yet. well all the best to the very end to us all.

Hello to all you ladies out there!

Kat - Glad to hear the MFM appt went well. Sound like they have a good plan and will take very good care of you and the little one.

nwquiz - Congrats on you pregnancy and hearing the heartbeat. Welcome to the board.

Stephanie - Wow you are growing some strong, healthy babies. That is so exciting that they are doing so well. You are going to have no problem losing the weight after birth - it is all babies. Only a few more weeks to go for you. Good luck with the glucose study. I have my first one in 5 weeks.

Leora - Take care of yourself and drink drink drink. Good luck on that US.

Blair - Glad you got your appt on Fri. I can only imagine how you are growing with 3. I always think that I am getting so large fast. When I complain I always hear - "well you have 2 in there." be ready to hear that a lot too.

Barbara - Sound like you are going to have a great soccer player there. Glad all is well and you are feeling so good.

Rio - I am so glad you saw your OB and got some assurance. Take it easy but I know that must be so hard with a 2 year old at home. I admire you ladies with little one already, it would be so much harder!

Margi - Congrats on 2nd trimester!!! Sorry about the ongoing bedrest - that must be hard, but it is for a good cause. You have been though so much already I know that the hematoma will resolve. You are in my prayers. Don't feel like you are bringing the board down if you gripe - we are here for you for that too!!! We did get an SUV - a used acura MDX - i love it so far but it is hard to get used to - i have always had smaller sporty cars. Golfing went very well - played a par 3. I swung easy - didn't care how far the ball went. DH was sweet and pushed my clubs half the time and up all the hills. I took my time and paced myself. It is good going cause it is my last hobby I am able to do - mnt biking and sand volleyball are out of the picture.

AFM - had my anatomy scan yesterday. All went very well. Babies are measuring a day ahead and weight 10 ounces each. My gut and the 13 week scan were correct. I have a BOY and a GIRL!!!! We are very excited.

Hi all. Just a quick post as I am so excited to share that I finally felt the baby move yesterday! It didn't feel like a flutter to me, but an actual pop in my stomach, kind of like popping popcorn. Since then I've been able to feel it more and more. It's the most amazing feeling ever!!

KJM, congrats on finding out the gender of your babies! Boy and a girl is perfect!!

Margi - so sorry to hear about everything you've been going through, but so glad to hear the babies are doing well. Don't worry about talking about your situation here.. we're all here for support - through the good and the bad. Keep well.

Nwquiz - so happy to see you on here!! Congrats on your pregnancy!!

Rio - so glad to hear that cervix is closed super tight! Take it easy, mama.

Leora - yikes, keep yourself well hydrated, girl! Speaking of which: how much water should you be drinking during second trimester? I'm lucky if I get 1-1.5 Liters in a day, but fear that it may not be enough. My OB said 2-3 Liters during my week 14 appt.. that seemed a bit excessive to me. I just don't get as thirsty! Would this affect my amniotic fluid level for the baby?

Sorry, I know I didn't get to everyone, but I'm in a rush. Thinking about you all though.. <3

hi all..

ashley- congrats on feeling the 'pops'.. !! isn't it wonderful!? but please don't be like me and freak out when the babe rests for a while, they can't 'pop' all the time. they have quiet days too

leora- wowsers on the dehydration! so glad you're ok..

kjm. congrats on finding out the gender :) one of each- how awesome

congratulations nwquiz- and yes, for me it has taken a long time to 'sink in' that it's real.. i'm sure the moments of pure excitement at it all will start soon :)

sweetpea, sounds like you have very thorough medical follow up.. that's awesome. hope you find it reassuring.

margi- sorry to hear bedrest is such a bummer. i imagine it would drive me nuts too- not only the inactivity but the constant focus on guarding the pregnancy. must be hard.. i know you've heard this lots already, but i had a SCH with both my pregnancies, and this one is turning out fine, and my son came along just fine too. It was awful though- in this pregnancy the SCH was "large" and "right beside the embryo".. double whammy. i worried so much.. so big hugs to you and hope it resolves soon.

happy bunny- wow! 35 wks and yes, she sounds strong and ready. and you are ready too. good for you and good luck with the weeks ahead!

ryann- i also really like your floors :) looking good

babyblu- glad to hear a natural delivery is possible now. sorry you have to endure the glucose test. ugh.

well i know there's so many more personals i could do, but that's a start ;) afm.. all is well, despite the worrying i've done in the last week, as i thought the baby 'should' be moving more. but had an u/s today and all is well- they were measuring my cervix as i had PTL before, and length is good, and baby measured on track too... the tech said she got pictures of the gender and they need approval by the radiologist (yes, this is canada, ugh) so hopefully my obgyn will get the 'word' in the report so i can finally know!

so has anyone heard of these POAS for gender identification when you're pg???
38 yrs. DOR, TTC since '04, recommended DE but didn't listen
3 IVF's & 1 FET: 1 cancellation, 1 m/c @ 12 wks, 1 chemical, 1 miracle boy & miracle 'natural' PG right now while waiting to cycle (WTF?)

2 boys! well... about 95% sure. There is definitely *something* between each pair of legs -- not 100% sure it's boy parts, but definitely seems that way.

Amazing how accurate Lou's predictor was...

Also - my cervical length is great. Anything less than 2cm is a big problem, between 2-3 is a warning sign and more than 3cm means everything is fine. Mine is a whopping 5.8 cm long! Amazing! I have a follow up scan to make sure it stays that way in 2 weeks and an anatomy scan in 4 weeks.

Hurray!

Leora- How exciting that now you are 95% sure that you have 2 little boys in there. Glad they are doing well and that your cervix is nice and long.

karenvan- I cant believe they know the gender but are making you wait so they can verify. Hopefully you get the big news soon!!!

kjm- Oh im sure I will be getting the oh you look like your about to pop- long long before its even close. Ive already gotten used to people stupid comments so hopefully they wont phase me too much. Congrats on one of each!!!

sweetpea- Sorry you didnt get another peak inside but it sounds like the MFM md will be taking good care of you. If you deliver at 36 or 37 wks when would that put you due?

margi- Glad to know Im not the only one who thinks that the weight gain suggestions in that book are a little high. I want healthy babies more than anything but I honestly think its physically impossible for me to pack on that much right now. Sorry to hear about more bedrest but as long as those babies are doing well Im sure that helps make it all worth it.

Bunny- I agree most stuff can be wiped down pretty well and you wont even be able to tell its used. As for the cribs and mattresses we will be going with new so I guess I will be picking a cheaper one since it will be times 3. Yeaa for 35 wks!!

AFM- Well MD cancelled the appt and rescheduled it to next Wed- June 1. So more waiting for me. She said she was supposed to be blocked off for Fri afternoon and didnt think she would be in the office long enough to have the full discussion we will need. So now i go next wed. On the plus side they said to plan on the ultrasound taking up to an hour with triplets so I guess it will be a very in depth US. Then we will consult with the MD and Im not sure whether I have to have an exam.

Blair -Boo was really hoping you would get that appointment on Friday. Tough with them MFM doctors. She probably has the day off to extend her holiday;) Anyways they would be taking the baby most likely the week of December 11th.

Leora- Yay for boys!! Woo hoo! So glad things are going well. The chinese predictor is predicting I'm having a boy and so isn't the needle test over the wrist.

Karen- That totally stinks. Hopefully they call you today with the results!

AFM: Nothing going on really, I actually feel pretty good today. I've been getting this little pain in my left side. I think it's my ovary and posssible cyst. I got one last time I was pregnant and she said it was very common in pregnant woman. Not sure if I should call the docs or just wait till Tuesday.

oh! one more piece of news. I know this isn't so important, but I finally did an "official announcement" on facebook. I don't know why I was holding out so long, especially because I tell everyone we meet in person. Now all my parents' friends, college friends, met-once-in-summer-camp friends and other assorted people know! I got tons of congrats, especially since most people know the struggles we've had. That's really nice.

kjm - YAY for confirming you're having a boy and a girl! AWESOME!! Do you have names picked out?

leora - Great cervical lenght and WOO-HOO on 2 little boys!! Same question I asked kjm - do you have names picked out?

karen(vancouver) - Hope the doc tells you soon! The suspense would be driving me crazy.

blair - can't wait to hear how your in-depth u/s goes. That will be so cool.

I can't remember who asked how much water you should drink but my peri said drink lots of water and then if you think you've had enough, drink more LOL. His goal for me was that my pee should always be clear so that's what I go by. And remember, the baby is going to take what it needs first and that includes water. So if you're not drinking enough, you'll probably deal with more constipation, dry skin, etc. Also, he advised to use a humidifier in your bedroom at night as just breathing while you sleep can cause you to lose a liter of fluids.

So here are my 33 weeks pics - one shirted and one bare belly (my belly is getting so vein-y LOL.) :D Only 4-6 weeks to go!!

Amanda...You look awesome!!!

Leora...Congrats on 2 boys and making the announcement official! I didn't make it FB official until about 18 weeks, so I understand the holding out part.

Kat...Sometimes nothing to report is a good thing! I hope that pain subsides!

Blair...bummer on no appt before the long weekend, but how exciting that the ultrasound will be an hour long! You'll be watching them all dance all over the screen!

Karenvancouver....How torturous that you know they know but haven't called! I would call every hour to check!

Ashley...Quite a moment when you feel movement huh? DH saw my stomach move from the outside the other day and was just in pure amazement. He was like "I can't imagine what that feel like on the inside". You have no idea!!!

KJM...Welcome to the boy/girl club! The black and white bedding is from jojodesigns.com! LOL!

Kat...I'm glad the appointment went well and they will be keeping a close eye on you! We were supposed to have crappy weather too...now 85 and sunny!

Margi...I'm so sorry bedrest has you down. I have my days where I just cry and don't want to talk to anyone and I've only been down for 4 weeks. Fortunately our nursery is put together now so I find myself sitting in my rocking chiar staring at it, then suddenly an hour has past!

I know there's more, but waffles are calling my name downstairs!

AFM....DH put my nursery together! All but the window treatments and wall hangings and I am in love with it! Again, I only know how to post one pic per post, so bear with the multiple posts!

Oh...and on a side note. My OB never actually measures my belly, just feels and aproximates. Well I was curious, so I tried measuring on my sister right after her appointment and I got it dead on. Her doc said she was measuring 39 and so did I. So I did it to myself as well and it said 37! Is that possible?? I think I'm going to bring my tape measure with me and ask my doc to show me how to do it. Sometimes I like an exact. And although I look somewhat small in some of my pics, I have an extreeeemely long torso....like freakishly long :)

Ok...here comes the nursery! This is the view from the door, and it will be Bella's side.
