Hi ladies. I want you to know I have been following along as you all on your journeys. So glad to hear all the good news. :)

Things have been crazy for us, but wanted to give you all a quick update. Today was a huge day for Marlo. She doesn't have a breathing tube down her throat as of this afternoon! She is still on a ventilator, but it's in her nose and she is now able to try to do more on her own. So far so good. She has been doing well. She also finally broke the 2lb mark. She is on half an ounce breast milk every 3 hours, and is doing really well with it. They say it's possible she may have to go back on the vent tube, we just have to wait and see how she does this way. There is a possibility that she will just get too tired and need more help breathing, but for now she is free of the tube she has been trying to rip out for the past week. The best thing about the tube being out was that I was able to hear her cry for the first time. It was the best sound I have ever heard. I turned into a bawl baby when I heard her. Who would have thought a tiny little cry would feel so good to hear. That is today's news. Thank you all for praying for her.

Thinking of you all. Hope all is going well.

Thank you for the update, Mellow.... it's great to hear that Marlo is doing well... I can only imagine how wonderful it was to hear her beautiful voice for the first time. Yay for the tube - she must be very relieved that she has it out - I'm hoping it stays that way! Best wishes to you and your family.

Does anyone have any experience with a low lying placenta? I had my monthly visit on Thursday and my OB broke the news that I had a low lying placenta. I am a little irritated that she didn't tell me last month when I had my u/s because she didn't want me to freak out. She said I am right at 2 cm? not sure on the unit of measurement.

So from what little research I have done this is potentially serious situation. She didn't put me on any restrictions, but
I am still really nervous.

I have had a perfect easy pregnancy so far. I have been blessed. I will be 26 weeks on Monday. I'm trying to remain calm, but it's hard! Any words of wisdom? :?

I had a low placenta earlier on but they rescanned and it came up. As your belly grows, there is a good chance that your placenta will move up. At my last scan, I had 6cm of clearance which my doc said was good for vaginal delivery. At 36 weeks, she's going to scan again to make sure there is still good clearance. If for your placenta doesn't rise enough, they will probably want to do a C-section.

The only issue that my OB warned about was the possibility of no damage/no threat bleeding after sex which didn't happen.

Kelly I also had a low lying placenta/ marginal previa early on but it resolved recently so keep your hope alive. As per complications I was told not to have intercourse or lift anything to heavy which I wasn't doing anyways. I was having some spotting with mine early on like 14 weeks but then it just all went away. Try not to worry I have a friend who had a full previa until delivery and had a very quick and simple c-section ...I think the more we research the more we worry so try to relax as much as you can and imagine the placenta moving up...I think visualization and positive thoughts really help...good luck

Hi Girls,
The boys are still in the NICU, ugh!! But, we might go home this week, as long as Wyatt doesn't have any apnea, he has to be apnea free for 7 days. We're at day 5 right now so we will see.

Stephanie: Congrats on making it this far, you're almost there mama!!

Anna: Bedrest for you, no lifting anything either!! I went from 4 cm to 2.5 in a couple of days. Then 3 days later into the delivery room. Things can change so quickly. Keep Paul cooking as long as possible.

Amanda: cute belly pic, you're almost there!

Leora: congrats on two boys!!

Mellow: so happy to hear that Marlo is doing so well. Is she on C-Pap?

Barbara: definitely agree on the car seat issue. A couple from the NICU was trying to get their babys car seat in the base properly yesterday and had no idea how to install it, I stood next to the dad and told him what to do step by step. Its pretty scarey knowing that most babies probably go home and their bases are not secure. They do a car seat test to make sure the baby won't stop breathing but don't make sure they won't be injured in an accident.

Well, I'm sorry if I've missed anyone. Time for some sleep. Hope you are all well!

Margi - I'm so sorry you are still stuck on bed rest --- just keep the final goal in mind! I have a sinking feeling that I'll end up on bed rest in a few weeks - so I'm trying to take advantage of being up and about for as long as possible. Of course, I get exhausted just running a simple errand (especially since the heat is getting horrendous!). Big hugs and keep baking those babies! Any sex guesses yet?

Kat - I'm glad the MFM appt went well --- the one advantage of being high risk is lots and lots of u/s! People sometimes say they are jealous of how many u/s I get (between the early ones from IVF and the ones now to check my cervix). Of course, I'd rather have a spontaneous, uncomplicated pregnancy and avoid the extra u/s -- but if I have to be high risk, I might as well enjoy the benefits!

Nwquiz - I totally understand the feeling of disbelief that we will actually have our babies. Since we found out it's 2 boys, MIL has been pushing me to go shopping -- but I just can't yet... Hopefully we'll both get more confident as our bellies get bigger and bigger!

Kelley - a boy and a girl! Hurray! One of each :D So glad the anatomy scan went well!

Ashley - the on-call doctor (who was mad that I came in for IV fluids instead of drinking) said that I should drink between 3.5-4 liters a day. My OB said that I should drink as much as possible. I've been drinking a little more than 2 litres on the average day. I'm not sure how much *you* should be drinking -- I have 2 other factors (1) twins and (2) extreme heat here (it's already over 90 degrees F every day). Amazing how much a pregnant lady can sweat! :D

Karen (Vancouver) - baby Girl! You had a long wait to find out! I'm so glad things look good from a PTL labor standpoint. It's a relief to be past 'viability' at 24 weeks, but it would be best for her to stay in there as long as possible.

Qita - thanks for the congrats! How is your pregnancy going? I know the early u/s were not very good, but are things looking good now?

Blair - I'm also having a TON of scheduling issues because it's multiples! Becuase the appt has to be doubled, I don't get much choice. I have to wait until 23w2d for my anatomy scan - since that's the earliest they could fit me in. I can't imagine the scheduling issues with THREE! :D

Amanda - no names yet, but we are working on it! Obsessing about baby names is much more fun than worrying about 'when/if' something goes wrong... so I'm trying to focus on that! You look great!

Ryann - they say that with twins, your fundal height measures about 1.5 as big as a singleton. So at 16 weeks, I'm measuring about 23 weeks -- yes, twin moms get HUGE. By 38 weeks, people measure 50 or more weeks! :D Nursery looks great!

Anna - feel better! A cold sucks in general, but especially when you can't just take Nyquil and ignore the world. Happy 3rd trimester!

Stephanie - boys will be so much fun :D Hurray for us! Congrats on finally getting the right carseats delivered!

Lou - welcome back! Amazing how accurate your predictor is :D I can't believe you are more than 1/2 there! More than 20 weeks, congrats! Isn't feeling them move awesome and totally surreal?

Mellow - I'm soooooo happy to hear that baby Marlo is doing well. Grow baby grow!

Sonya - how are you doing? Also getting quite close the end, no?

Gina - I'm so glad to hear the boys are doing well in the NICU. I hope they get to come home soon!

AFM - not much exciting. Still super happy and relieved after the great scan last Thursday.

I'm having a bit of scheduling issue with my OB. He ordered another u/s for cervical check at 18 weeks and an anatomy scan to be doing between 20-22 weeks. He told me to come back at 20+ weeks, when I've done the anatomy scan, if nothing is wrong at the 18 week scan. BUUUTTT... do to annoying scheduling and the fact that I need 2 back-to-back appts for the anatomy scan, mine isn't until JULY 7TH! Which is 23w2d. So now, I have to call the OB and ask when to come back. I don't feel comfortable going from now until then without seeing him (or having any u/s between 18-23 weeks). I'm sure he'll be fine with me coming in at 20 weeks, but I have to call and ask.

Otherwise, all is good! It's starting to get HOT here, so I'm trying to drink as much as possible.

Leora- Thanks for asking. I am 8 weeks today and had another scan a few hours ago. Baby seems to be doing grand :D The heart beat was 156- sounded like galloping horses :D Measuring slightly small (12mm) but the clinic doesn't seem concerned. I am getting really bad stomach cramps but we think it's to do with one of the additional drugs I have been on for a week (Innohep) so doc suggested I try injecting in my thigh rather than my tummy. Will give that a try.

I hear you about the heat. Low 40s here today and 45% humidity  You're going to feel it carrying around 2 precious bundles!!

Thinking of everyone and sending loads of baby dust out there.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Just a quick warning for the pregnant gals. About a month after having DS I woke up with awful pain on my right side. I thought someone had beaten me with a bat it was one of the worse pains ever. So DH took me to the ER with baby in tow. I was having a gallbladder infection. About a month later I had to have it removed it was so infected, apparently it is very common for pregnant women to have gallbladder infections after giving birth. I had never heard of it but the anestesiologist said that I was the 5th one just that month. Even if you don't have issues now it is something to watch out for since you will be tired and sore after giving birth! Hopefully no on ehere will have to experience it!

Hey ladies and many pregnant friends from past cycles! As you can see from my siggy I finally got that magical BFP. Due date should be in Jan 2012... So I am crashing this board for some advice. :D As you can see, my beta didn't quite double but both my RE and ghost say it's close enough and should be just fine. I have my u/s this Friday and am freaking out a bit b/c I have minimal symptoms (fatigue and slightly enlarging BBs). No m/s at all. The sympoms I have actually have lessened since my first beta and could just be from the progesterone and estrace. Did any of you have slow to start symptoms or slow betas and still get to see that beautiful HB? It is so hard to keep up the PMA when experience has trained you to be prepared to be disappointed.

Glad to see so many of my old friends doing so well.

Qita -- YAYAYAY! I'm so happy your little bean is growing well!

Rio - ouch! Thanks for the gallbladder advice.

BlissCS - welcome! I've been stalking you on the IVF board. I suffer from HG (a severe form of nausea and vomiting) and even I don't start puking until 6-7 weeks. Try not to worry and just hold on until Friday. (Also, my clinic only does one beta -- if the number is good, they don't see any reason to obsess over the doubling times. My beta was 200 at 11dp5dt - and then I had to wait for an u/s!)

AFM - shit. I'm freaking out. I went to run an errand this morning and when I got home, I was bleeding. Not as heavy as a period, but definitely heavier than just spotting. D convinced me to rest at home for an hour before going to the doctor, to see if it got better or worse. The bleeding got better, but I was desperate for an u/s to check on the babies. We went to the on-call doctor (my personal high-risk OB is at the hospital and only works at the clinic on Thursdays -- we didn't think this was urgent enough to rush to the ER ---- much shorter wait times at the on-call doctor at the clinic).

The good news -- u/s showed no signs of a problem. The tech said she was concerned about a placental separation, but there is NO sign of that. I'm at home now, on bed rest, waiting to see my doctor on Thursday - and the bleeding has stopped completely.

The not-so-good news --- the u/s also measured my cervical length. As y'all know, they don't know what caused my last twin loss at 22 weeks, so my cervix is being watched very closely. Today, my cervical length was 3.3cm - which is still safely above the magic 3cm number. But on Thursday, at the routine check, my cervix was 5.3cm.... so I shortened by 2 cm in 5 days. CRAP! On-call doc said that 3.3cm is still long enough and I'll have to talk to my regular OB about an emergency cerclage and if I'll need one.

So now I'm on bed rest, waiting for Thursday, and just HOPING that everything works out. This is so scary, since my last pregnancy was absolutely textbook perfect.... I'm so nervous that things are going wrong already now....

Bliss....congrats on the BFP!!!! My morning sickness didn't kick in until about 7 weeks, and I had it BAD!!! A lot of ladies were lucky enough not to get it at all! Please don't let that worry you into thinking something is wrong! I can't wait to hear how your ultrasound goes!

Rio- Good advice!!

Bliss- Hello fellow Janaury 2012 girl. See you on our little board- just you and me so far.... small and select :)

Leora- Holy shit that sounds really scary. You poor thing. All the docs are clearly giving you every bit of help and monitoring you all the way and with that and all your friends on here wiling those twins on, I am sure the outcome this time will be different. Rest up well and I'll be thinking of you very much and sending loads of baby dust your way.

Mellow- glad marlo is doing good. you might just get to go home sooner than you think.
Gina- i agree on the car seat issue.in my area the police dept always announce for parents to go by the station for installation and at random go to different day cares to check car seats if you let them.
Leorira- yaaah girl for two boys. you will have fun with them. better drink more water to avoid unexpected er visits.
Blair- girl ppl will always make comments regardless. so its dealing with the comments is what matters. better just enjoy the pregnancy.
Lou- crap it just seems like the other day we were all blowing up the winter board with your congrats and now you are already halfway tru? crap where did the time go. soon you will beholding team pink in your hands.
Rio- That is so funny about the gallbladder. exactly two years ago a weekend like this i went to getmine done coz i had been putting it off. that friday before memorial day my doc told me he could not let me go back to work it had to come out so i had an emergency surgery. unfortunately i had a stone in my common duct and due to the holiday i had to have a second surgery that monday with a different doc to remove it. but it had passed by the time they got in. oh well the first thing they asked me is if am pregnant of just delivered coz its very common and they also had 3 ppl who had just delivered and were having surgery. so irronical you brought it up.
Bliss- dnt worry about sumptoms coz i dont have much myself except a swollen belly but i have an ovary bigger than a tennis ball with cysts.
Margi- Hope you are doing good with the twins on board. rest up all you can for a good cause.
Sweatpea- glad the appt went well. you get to see your bean this week. go girl.
AFM nothing new to report. just chilling out waiting to see if this ovary will go back down. will have another ultrasound on thur to followup on the ovary and i get to see my bean. looking forward to it. ladies have a nice day.
