I posted on the "General" board but I was told this board may be a little better.
I just found out yesterday that I am going to have a GIRL!!!
I had a Level II Ultra Scan so they checked everything.
Everything with the baby is GREAT except one thing. The Doctor noticed a small white spot on her Heart?????
He told me I could have a 1 in 300 chance of having a baby with chromosome abnormality.....
What does this mean?
Has anyone ever heard of this??
REGANKATE
Congrats on the girl - can't believe you are so far along already!
Sorry can't help on the spot on the heart - the numbers don't sound too dreadful - could he tell you anymore - is the blood flow etc all ok? If I were you I would get more info off them - good luck and keep us posted

ttc 9 years. 38 yrs old, dh 8 hrs younger!First IVF in Aug 2002 and had ectopic.2nd IVF neg.3rd FET and negative.4th FET and positive but sadly lost our little boy at 20 weeks.5th FET and Alice Isobel and Emily Charlotte born 5th Aug 2004!
Thank you soo much! I can't believe how far along I am either
Hopefully the rest of the pregnancy will go just as fast. I am not a patient person so I don't know how I am going to be able to wait until November!!!!
Anyway, I had a pediatrician talk to the Ultra Scan Doctor and he responded to me "it is a VERy VERY small chance" Don't worry.
But, of course, after being through what I just went through to get a baby I AM GOING TO WORRY!!!
So I thought someone out there could give some more reassurance.
thanks for the response!!
Hope you are well!!
thank you for letting me know more details - you will always worry - this is your baby and I would do the same!
come and join us here when you feel you can - we do have some laughs and you will find plenty of other worriers trust me. I know there is a small chance but you still worry - we do that with numbers don't we - if someone said to you that you have a one in 300 chance of conceiving with IVF you would have thought "no way never going to get pg" or if someone had given that as your lottery chance (better than it is though!) but because it is something awful then you think that you will be the one - it is human nature.
As for being impatient - hello this is me you're talking to - it gets better and suddenly the time looms up and you think - yikes not ready for this!
Take care and think this time next year you will be sorting out Father's day with your lovely daughter.

first let me say it's lovely news that your having a baby girl!
with regards to the white spot on baby's heart, i know it's impossible not to worry. the pediatrician will have experience of this or certainly access to someone with experience of it. if they feel that it is a very low risk then try to go with what they're saying. difficult i know.
when i had my nuchal scan and blood tests done i was told that the guidelines worked to by the NHS is anything above "1 in 250 (max ceiling ) is out of danger zone". i know this isn't a nuchal scan and its a guideline i'm talking about so it can't be conclusive, but i thought it might just help in some small way.
Thank you sooo much for the kind response.
It really makes me feel better to get such support.
I go in for the next scan in three weeks.
I am looking on the bright side that everything will be fine.
