a quick post sorry I have been MIA lately but I promise I read every day and you are all in my thoughts and prayers

I had my cervix check yesterday and its down to 1.8cm from 2.4 last week but thankfully still closed so I had the steroid shot yesterday and another one today to mature the baby's lungs and I am now on strict bedrest. I still have 5-6 BH contractions a day but OB is worried about PTL and with my TAC they are keeping a close eye. To be honest last time I was pregnant my cervix slowly effaced like this too but I still made 41 weeks...only problem is this time I don't have as much cervix so this is very stressful because I am only 30 weeks tomorrow.

Also we are not done with the nursery so I am a bit panicked

Blair good luck today
Margi how are you
Lou you look awesome in a bikini
Klinger, Bunny and Sonya how exciting you girls are almost there. I can't wait to see baby pics
baby blue what an awesome baby bump you have
hope good luck with the move and the upcoming baby shower
Ryan my baby moves sometimes during the BH but I feel tightness all over and in my cervix and that's how I know...You and I are starting to get close too now only 6-7 weeks and we will meet our little angels :)
SD how are you feeling
Leora I loved your baby bump pic and you are in my thoughts dear...when is your next cervix check...I think its a great idea that you are taking it easy.
Rio I am so glad the contractions are not so bad...keep resting and drinking that water mama :) So glad your cervix is long and closed
KJM we are also considering doing the cord blood but have not made a decision yet...there are no family histories of these diseases in our families but I guess you never know and we are thinking better have it just in case...IDK not sure yet

Hi all

its been a very long time since I posted. it has taken us a long time to get over the fact that the treatment worked and we are having twins. I am now 23 weeks and our babs are cooking well. I have been signed off by thr Doc to work from home as I had a couple of bleeding incidents. Work is happy for me to work from home from now on.

We have not brought a thing, however our midwife advised that we need to al least have my hospital bag ready by 28 weeks. So we have to pull our finger out!

I cycled with some of you in the fall last year and its great to see that you are doing so well. I will try and keep up as i am at home more, well all the time.

Blair - Good Luck!!

I envy all those that can eat cereal. I love cereal but really not supposed to eat it on the GD diet. I will eat it in the evening time sometimes but if i eat it for breakfast my blood sugar level skyrockets. i couldn't believe that my highest blood sugar level 176, was from eating oatmeal squares cereal. As far as fruit goes, i can still eat any fruit i want. Just as long as i don't go over 30 grams of carbs and i eat protein with the carbs. The diet isn't so bad, though it does take some time to get used to and sometimes it feels like i am eating the same things over and over. I think the GD diet has defiantly helped me not gain weight, as of yesterday i have actually lost 6lbs.

Went to the Dr. yesterday. not a big appointment.. got to hear the babies HB but that isn't even as much fun since I hear it all the time with my doppler at home. Good news is no glucose test for me. YEY!! I am already on the GD diet and on metformin, plus taking my blood sugars levels 4 times per day. Dr. said that is what they would have me do if the test came back abnormal so really there is no use of me doing them. YEY!! no yucking orange stuff.. That's been the excitement of my week. 15 more days till the big u/s.

Osi - welcome back and congratulations on your twins!

Annas - wow strict bedrest, I hope your cervix stays nice and closed for a while but it is reassuring to know that Paul would be fine even if he was born now since you are past 30 weeks. I am sure you will make it to at least 38 weeks! How will you keep busy?

Blair - can't wait for the good news!

to have fun - try Special K Protein, it is the lowest carb cereal, tastes ok I just put splenda on it, I find that eating the same stuff takes out the guess work and keeps my levels steady, then you can experiment, I had a couple of bites of brownies with dinner last night and blood was 108, just load up on salads, protein and you can sneak a treat! Great news on US

Ryann - my BH aren't clear cut sometimes. When they are I feel a tightening sensation that progresses and all of my stomach gets hard as a rock then I have this weird rush of warmth or something that comes all the way up to my head, hard to explain. THose are the obvious ones. THen I have others where all of my stomach is hard as a rock but no gush feeling. Our girl is in a weird U turn shape on my belly so sometimes my belly is really hard al around but I am not sure I had a contraction. Look for a post on this thread from miamibaby, she posted a good one on how to tell false labor from real labor.

Amanda My scar turned into a keloiid which I never had before so my dermatologist said that compression is always good and the silicone won't irritate it, but again I had trouble with mine, yours might be just fine :) Great news on your NST and 15 lbs is awesome!

Sweetpea - great news on bean!

I have my NST in a few mins but wanted to check in. I was bummed we could not get any pics at our last US cause she had arms and legs in front of her face! Oh and for the girls with doggies (lots of us) I found that installing pet/kid gates early on was a blessing or getting something like this http://www.walmart.com/ip/North-States- ... te/8457890 make sure you wedge this one though or it will slide around, sometimes the baby is sleeping and you need to go potty or something, so you close the gates and keep doggies on your side while you can still hear baby, it also helps cause our pups were so curious about anything baby, this way our son could have tummy time or play time without having all his toys stolen or trampled ;) a play yard is good too, oh and don't forget to have DH bring a blanket from the hospital for pups to sniff, did wonders for us and our male dog even stole it to sleep with it, so when we brought home baby they were curious but knew the smell already. Off to NST I go!

I had my 38 week check... No cervical change :( I was really hoping to hear that something had changed from last week. The doc is going to set up a scheduled induction for some time around my due date as she doesn't want me going over - if I need the appointment, at least it's there but I'm hoping for some action this week. I'm going to go scrub my kitchen cabinet faces in hopes that I'll spontaneously go into labor.

Happy Bunny - maybe sex can help? I also know that massaging your nipples can induce contractions but not sure how much or how long, maybe DH can help! Anyway thtat sounded more fun than scrubbing the kitchen floor ;) Good luck!

Amanda What is the range of HB for your girl on NST? Mine was 109 to 155, had one contraction and she slowed down a bit but then picked up.

My NST lasted forever! But she was moving a ton and even had hiccups! I guess the next big milestone is the 34 week one then the 36 week one. I just hope to keep making those.

Barbara - 38 weeks! You're soooo close to meeting Brooke! Sorry there wasn't any change in your cervix but I second Rio's suggestion to have sex and get some nipple stimulation in there. The prostaglandins in semen help to soften your cervix (which is why my MFM had us use condoms this whole pregnancy) and the nipple stimulation can help kick contractions into gear. Or maybe you're just going to have all that dilation kick into gear once you're in labor rather than little bits before. My DD was 3 or 4 cm dilated for 3 weeks before she went into labor which was depressing in its own way because she kept thinking "any day" and it was a long 3 weeks.

Rio - I didn't get to see the low #s - machine was angled away. Her normal is around 145-150 and her high was in the 190s again at the start of the test when I was contracting and she was ridiculously squirmy. Luckily this time though it came back down after a few minutes.

Barbara - Sorry to hear about no cervix changes. I just know things will get going for you soon! :D

We just got home from what should have been our last prenatal appointment since I'm being induced this coming Tuesday. But, Brady's fluid is a little low, so I have to go back in tomorrow morning to get another sono and see what my OB wants to do. I got my membranes stripped and am having awful cramping... Yea! She got around my cervix 3 times, which is dilated to 2 cm. Here's hoping for a couple of baby boys soon!

Stephanie - sooooo close to meeting your boys! How exciting! I can't believe you are already 37+ weeks - that's amazing!

Rio - I hope the contractions didn't come back. Don't you live in a big city? I would think a university hospital (if there is one near you) would have the highest level NICU around, but I'm not sure. --- my FIL is a packrat. My in-laws have a 5 bedroom house and live by themselves -- and every room/closet/corner is stuffed with stuff! D cleaned out his childhood bedroom and they've managed to fill it with stuff! Crazy. (but then again, they always have anything I need to borrow...)

Karen - happy birthday to your son! I hope baby Delaney gets a hint and moves off of your nerves so you feel better.

Kelley - I took DH to a baby store too. I was afraid he would be apathetic and disinterested - but the total opposite! He is so interested and curious about all this stuff (and a little overwhelmed, like I am). He also came to my u/s this morning and keeps calling me from work to gush about how cute the babies are. It's so fun when the husbands really connect with the pregnancy. --- I have a big pile of cereal boxes to out to the recycling dumpster.... it's a little embarassing! Fruit is soooo good too now. There is a big open air market here (I live in the Middle East) and I just bought the most delicious looking cheeries! Yum. Now I just have to make sure I don't get staining cherry juice on one of my 5 maternity tops!

Blair - if you're not drinking any milk (which I totally understand. My favorite OJ is totally gross right now) - make sure you get enough calicum and dairy some other way! I absolutely love the Viactiv calcium supplements. Instead of giant pills to swallow, they are like little candies, with 20 calories each and 500mg of calcium. You can buy them anywhere (drug stores, Walmart, Target, etc). Totally recommended!

Chris - nothing to report is awesome when you are pregnant! Means things are going fine. June 30 is really soon! I already know I'm having 2 boys, but my anatomy scan isn't until July 7th - I wish that would come sooner! -- congrats on avoiding the icky orange drink.... I wish I could avoid that too!

Ryann - the big 3-0! Congrats! I'm coming up on the big 2-0 and it's hard to believe how fast time is flying. August is so soon!

Lou - seems like we'll be having a big DOUBLE circumcision party! Confirmed again today that it's definitely 2 boys. Not sure how that works (obviously, you can only circumcise one at a time!) - but we'll figure it out. I'm having crazy growing pains - I keep worrying but it's not anything wrong (cervix looked great today). Doctor says it's growing pains and they will be the worst from now (19 weeks) until 24 weeks (when growth slows a little bit).

Kat - I may also hire someone without telling DH.... "hey honey - the windows look so clean!", "why thanks, honey. I spent all day doing that" :D

Amanda - sounds like things are going amazingly with you too!

Anna - 1.8 is worrying, but not all that bad. At least you still have some left! Bed rest must really be getting hard now that it's summer time. 10 more weeks for you!

Osi - so glad to hear things are going well!

AFM - I had a cervical check and OB appt today. U/s was awesome! Both are definitely boys. Cervix is measuring 4cm (I asked the doctor why it keeps yo-yo-ing -- 5cm to 3.5cm to 4cm - he said that's normal - measurements are never exact). Babies weigh in at about 275gr each! That's more than half a kilo of just baby in there! wow! They were kicking and jumping all over the place - not cooperating at all. I love how DH loves watching them on the u/s. He holds my hand and strokes my hair and is so excited about our boys.

OB was totally routine. I've gained 2 kilos in 2 weeks. GAH! I guess I was just so excited to be eating again that I forgot to count calories. I'm now exactly at my starting weight. The goal is 1 kilo (2.2lbs) every 2 weeks - no more, no less. It's really hard to figure out how to do that!

Because things are looking so good, the OB is spreading out our appts. I had been going every 2 weeks. Now I have my anatomy scan in 3 weeks from today, with an OB appt in 4 weeks from today. I know he is only spreading things out because everything is fine, but I'm just getting to the point where everything went to hell last time, so I'm nervous. He said to come in if anything at all worried me.

btw - I agree that the Jewish tradition of not buying anything before they come is a bit crazy. We'll be a bit more chill than that. I think I'll feel more comfortable buying stuff after the anatomy scan, and after I pass 24 weeks.

Leora- Yea I actually talked to the MD yesterday and she recommended taking more Tums each day if I wasn’t taking my calcium anymore. They are just too big to swallow right now. I will have to look into the Viactiv though. Glad to hear both the boys are doing great and that your cervix is measuring longer. Stinks that they are spreading out your apts but it’s a good sign that everything is going well.

Stephanie- Congrats on the great news and knowing you will be meeting your little guys soon!! Keep us posted and make sure to post pics as soon as you can. Good luck!

Happy Bunny- sorry there were no changes but you are getting soooo close to meeting Brooke. Apparently she really likes it in there and wants to wait a little longer to make her debut.

Rio- Glad the NST went well. Sounds like shes moving around a lot in there. Not too much further until you hit 34 wks!!

Fun- Glad you got to hear little ones heartbeat (even though you get to experience a lot at home with the Doppler). And its good to hear you don’t need to do the glucose test- ive heard horrible things and am just waiting to see how bad it really is. Only 2 more wks until you know the flavor!!

Anna- Glad to hear they are giving Paul some steroids to make sure his little lungs are stronger. Hoping that the strict bedrest helps keep him baking a little longer so he comes out nice and healthy.

Addy- Thanks for the well wishes. How are things going with you?

Klinger- Glad your NST apt and visit went well and Maribel is doing great. I hate it that the US tech scared you, but Im glad everything ended up being ok. Sounds like the diet is working out and everything is going smoothly.

Kat- Glad the US went well and baby is looking good measuring 5 days ahead!! Ive had quite the cyst since the retrieval and am hoping its starting to go down- it was baseball sized.

AFM- US went well. Both babies looked great and were putting on quite the show. Both measured a few days ahead of the EDD. Baby B seems to be a little hyper and was flipping and turning all over the place. The US tech said that they were gorgeous babies and even took extra pictures for her US portfolio (something she submits for re-certification). I have finally started to gain weight which the doctor was pleased about. I go back in 2 wks on June 29 for another US and cervix check. Hoping we can get a sneak peak of the genders then since I will be 14wk6d.

Blair...What beautfil little babies you've got there! Congrats on a great ultrasound and gaining weight! All wondferul news :)

Leora...Great news from you as well! I also love when DH gets excited! After we finihsed buying all the baby stuff this past weekend he was sitting on the couch smiling. I asked him what he was thinking and just goes "I am so excited to be a dad". Of course my eyes welled up because I cry every freeeeeeeeking day now! I know it makes you nervous to spread your appts out, but that has GOT to be a good sign! And, doc said to go any time you feel nervous, so if you to go in, go in!

Stephanie...That is soooo exciting! I can't wait to see pictures of the boys :)

Rio...My fingers remain crossed that you keep hitting those milestones! Thanks for describing your BH to me...I get a "gush" feeling too, but didn't know how to describe it. I was telling my sister it's like my chest feels heavy, yet hollow at the same time. Then when my tummy loosens it goes away. So I guess I'm kind of convinced that they are BH.

Osi...great to hear from you! Glad all is going well!

Anna...I am keeping you and Paul in my thoughts that you can keep him cooking til he is good and ready to join this crazy world!

Amanda...Thanks for chiming in on the BH. It's really tough because I feel like they take up ALL of my belly that it really is rock hard ALLLLLL the time...then they decide to stick their butts out and it just downright hurts! I'm glad to hear that your appt went well and Maribel is doing great!

Kat...Great news on a great ultrasound! Congrats!

kjm...Thanks for the advice on the tailbone. my ankle bumps seem pretty even though, so IDK! DH wants to do cord blood banking for the "just in case" but we haven't decided. I hate the thought of even needing it, so it freaks me out :(

Lou...Sorry you were having some crazy pains, but glad all seemed to check out perfectly!

AFM...I called the doc about my tailbone pain and he said I could come in if I want to or wait until Friday. I decided to wait because I absolutely HATE being in a car at this point. It actually feels better, but there is definitely a lump. We will see what he says tomorrow.

I am sitting here trying to pass the time because my sister is having a c-section in about an hour! I'm going to be an aunt for the first time! Unfortuantely I don't get to be at the hospital waiting, but DH is bringing me as soon as he gets home from work! I can't wait o meet the little man!

Blair - AWESOME u/s pics!! What cuties you've got! I can't wait till you find out the flavors. :D

Ryann - YAY for becoming an auntie!! I love being an aunt and it'll be great for those cousins to be so close in age.

Leora - Glad the cervix is cooperating and the babies are gaining nicely! Great news!! And if my little one stays put, I'll be having my c-section the same day as your anatomy scan. It'll be a great day for both of us. :D

Blair- Baseball size. Ouch!! Pray it goes down that is scary big. The babies look great. Crazy how fast they go from looking like tadpoles to looking like actual babies. I have my US pics side by side from 8 weeks and 10 weeks apart and what a differance.

Leora- I have some irish friends that follow the same superstitions. They actually had the baby shower after the baby was born. So glad your ultraosudn went well and the baby's and your cervix are doign well. I've put on 4lbs aleady but I think it was my thyroid out of whack and I was eating a lot of carbs because of the nausea. I haven't put on any more in 2 weeks.

Stephanie- Fingers crossed them boys come before the induction.

Riogrl- Sounds lik you got yourself a little wiggle warm. Did you get a good pic this time at least? We didn't get a good one this last time due to baby moving too much.

To-have-fun- yay on the no gluclose test.

Osi-I hear you on the not buying anything. I probably won't until after I'm at least 24 weeks.

Annashope- Parying Paul stays in there a little while longer. My son was in the birth canal and I was 3cm and 100% effaced for almost a month and then when I went off the beds and bedrest it was a few days before I went into labor again. Crazy. They hard a hard time stopping my contractions and then when I was ready to go into labor they wouldn't start. Strict bed rest does work. (oh ya he came out with the biggest cone head which lasted a week or so, but the plus side was I only pushed for 10 minutes and didn't tear;)

Rypell- How's your tailbone doing? Did you talk to the doctor? I see as I posted this that you already called the doctor.
AFM: Not much going on. The last few days no MS. Though by 9 pm I can barely keep my eyes open.

Question for the ladies that I had the NT scan to check your odds of downs at 11-12 weeks. Did you need a full bladder for that one since it's so early still? My doctors office never told me and this last one I got to us and she said I needed one. And it ended up being painful as she was really pushing down on my c-section scar to get pics of baby. Though I know the NT will be done at the MFM office and from what I read is done with a higher tech machine. So maybe it will be differant. I never had an ultrasound until 16 weeks with all my prior pregnancy's so this is differant.
