Just curious if anyone has had any experience with hypnobabies (a newer, different version of hypnobirthing). The website (not surprisingly) makes it sound amazing...but I am always a bit skeptical. However, mind over matter can be a powerful thing.
Curious if anyone has had any first hand experience or known anyone that thought the program was helpful? or a waste of $$? The home study package is $150.
Thanks!!

I probably shouldn't admit this...but DH was able to get me a "free" copy. I will start listening to the mp3's. I figure--it can't hurt, right?! I think I have some "unusual" pain receptors which makes me particularly nervous about child birth because when I was really sick with OHSS I had a procedure that was supposed to have me numb: I felt every bit of it and it was excruciating. Also, after surgery for my ruptured tube, they gave me morphine for pain--it made me dazed, but I still felt in horrible pain. Maybe I am just a kook.
Thanks SD for your opinion.
If anyone else has had experience with this I'd love to know. Otherwise, I can offer some feedback after I listen for a while--and, hopefully, I will get a chance to put it to use in about 4 months.

Margi you are not a kook or maybe I am too! I have a huge tolerance for pain meds, huge. They tried one time to take my wisdom tooth out and gave me 12 shots of anesthesia, yeah 12, and I felt every cut, they had to stop and finally only did it when I was under. At the hospital with my c-section I felt things through morphine too plus got my skin all itchy as a reaction to it. With my c-sec and my gallbladder removal they tried giving me vicodin which was like taking nothing, felt every pain until they brought out percosset. But the good news is that they gave me a spinal during my c-sec and I did not feel a thing with my c-sec, so chances are if you have a c-sec you will be fine with the pain, I can't comment on labor since I didn't go through it. My suggestion is to stay on the pain meds and not let anyone talk you out of any less than what you need. You need to not be in pain to be a good mom those first few days and I learned it the hard way since the nurses wanted to wean me off and I was miserable then my OB said absolutely no pain necessary so stick with big guns until you start feeling better. Hope this helps!
