Frozen Transfer

Post by Elle0805 »

Any one out there attempting a frozen transfer or has done of Frozen transfer?? The husband and I are thinking of doing one the end of this year/beginning of early next year. We have twin girls currently (they will be 3 in August) and have 2 frozen embryos. The embryos were frozen on day 5 and are grade A quality. So they are great embryos. Do any of you know statistics on them making it through the thawing process and the statistics of them actually taking?? I am currently 27 years old and the eggs were taken out when I was 23 years old (almost 24 years old). We would like just one more but we would put both back in if they made it through the thawing process.

Any input would be great on this issue as I am excited to get just one more blessing in our lives. I am just nervous that they will not make it through the thawing and that they will not take. The husband and I can not afford another IVF cycle so if this frozen transfer does not work then I think we are done with having children. :( I would love to hear about past frozen transfers with you all!

From all I have read, blasts have a 90% chance of surviving the thaw. :D As for the success rate, that varies by clinic, age, etc. My clinic, at my age, has a 50% success rate on FETs. I'm currently going through an FET cycle and will be transferring towards the end of the month. Best of luck to you, and I'm so glad you have two little blessings from your fresh cycle.

I have had two FET's and both were successful. My son was born in 11/09 and I am now 19 weeks pregnant. The thaw survival rate is about 85% per embryo. The cycle success rate is about 40-50%. Some people have better success with an FET than with a frest cycle do to endometrium receptivity. Good luck! :)

It would be very unlikely that they do not surivive the thaw

Hi Ladies,
Just thought I'd get connected as we are about to start an FET cycle with our one frozen 5 day blastocyst. We did IVF in 2006 and put in three blasts and became pregnant with twins. Lost one at 10 weeks but have a beautiful 3 year old girl . We have waited to do this FET for several reasons and now seems right for us. I am 41. Anyway, I am hoping that we have a good chance,...since we were successful on our first IVF attempt and this is from that same batch. Love to hear from any of you who had successful FETs with just one blastocyst. Blessings to all.

Both survived the thaw and were transferred this morning. Only one is an excellent quality, the other is average, maybe even a little under. I was wondering if it would survive the thaw, but it sure did! Now we wait for 9 days. I'm just so happy that this 2ww will be so much better than our first cycle because I have something going on every single day until then, after my two days of bed rest are over. Plus, I have my little girl to keep me busy, happy and distracted! :D

Wow - cannot believe I am back on this board!!! I am sooooo nervous. I went through IVF a few years ago and thankfully got pregnant with my perfect little boy who turns three next month!! We only have one frozen embryo and we are going to be transferring at the end of August. I just started Lupron shots this morning. I am so scared to be starting this all over again and so afraid as to what my chances are with just one embryo. I am 40 now so this is our last shot!!!

TinaO - I had two top quality fresh embryos transferred last year - no luck. We had two grade B frosties left, only one survived the thaw. Of course, I was a wreck with that info. But... I was over the moon when I had found out it had worked! Although I miscarried at seven weeks, I will be doing frozen again, no question. "Only having one" worked for us.

Good luck!

For Tina,
We should check in with eachother. We are also having our one frozen e. transfered at the end of August. I am 41. Also had IVF before which resulted in our wonderful 3 year old daughter. I'll be praying for you~ Haven't started lupron yet because my doc is on vacay til aug 8th so they put me on birth control until he gets back. Will probably start injections as soon as he is back and confirms my protocol. keep me posted.

Hi Everyone,

I am looking into IVF and wanting to fing a great RE who will do mini IVF and freeze to make a stock pile for transfer. You all are having very positive results. Please tell me if any of you reccommend yor RE, his/her name and state. I am in Florida and I have not found an RE who will do mini IVF...at my age, 45, I am willing to travel out of state. Your opinions on your RE would greatly be appreciated.

Sharon.
