Sue-I am so sorry to hear about your BFN....this IVF thing is so unfair. I keep thinking I won't be upset if it doesn't work, but of course I will be.

Shari-it only takes one!! Good luck tomorrow.

AFM-I am in the dreaded 2ww. I transferred 4-3 day embryos last Wednesday. It was a FET and we transferred 1 8 cell grade 1, 1 6 cell grade 1 and two 5 cell grade 1. The doctor was optimistic, we will see. My beta isn't until the 20th....feels like an eternity! That seems like a long time. I will be 14dp3d. What do you all think?

Hope everybody is doing well.

good luck shari!

and hoping- 4 embies is awesome, and my clinic always made me wait that long too... i questioned it on my last FET and took the blood work requisition in early (i changed the date on it!- very cocky by treatment #4)... but i learned the hard way 'why' they wait til 17 DPO- it's to avoid the rollercoaster of a chemical ... which is what i had.. if i had waited til the 'right' test date, it wouldn't have been a number that was 'on the fence', and i woulnd't have got my hopes up like i did.. anyways, ihave my fingers and toes crossed for all you ladies!

Hey- I just had my transfer today. Only one embie made it. S/he is a little guy/gal (2-cell) since it was a 2-day transfer. I am all at once feeling very anxious and down, and yet can't deny that in my uterus is an embryo! I'd say that I am much closer to pregnancy than I usually am, ay? Come on baby, keep dividing and grab on!!!

Shari-yeah you are PUPO! Hoping the embryo makes herself/himself comfy!

Karen-you are right avoiding chemicals is best...I have had way too many of those.....How are you feeling? Thanks for checking in!

Dogz-it is a long wait, at least 1 week is down but as I remember the 2nd week drags!

Oh Sue, I'm so sorry. Will you consider trying again?

Best of luck to you shari!

I don't think I'm going to be doing stims until September, honestly. I have my surgery next week, so that wipes out this cycle, and DH and I are going on a 2 week vacation in late August that we'll need to work around (10 year anniversary!) The study gives the genetic testing and most drugs to us for free, but we still have to pay for the cycle itself.

Shari~I've got my fingers crossed for you!!! I am praying for your positive. I know you are probably tired of hearing this--but it only takes one : )

Hoping--wow--four embryos is fantastic! I'd say your chances are very good. Hang in there and try to distract yourself during the 2ww.

Kerpuppies--are you tired of waiting to cycle? You will be in a good mental space after your holiday. And that study sounds fantastic! I would be very hopeful.

As for me, I am shocked at how sad I was to get the negative. I thought it would be much easier since I already have my dear girl. But it still hurts. Not as bad as when you have no child at all--but I am definitely am heartbroken. It seems that longing for a baby never really goes away!

I think we will try at least one more time. I am going to take DHEA this time in preparation. Maybe that will help my eggs/embies. Karen--how much and when did you take DHEA? I know it did wonders for you!

hi ladies - i am going for attempt #3 for baby #2. i am on lupron and start e2 injections on saturday for a frozen transfer on july 29th. it took 2 attempts to get my DS so i was disappointed when attempt #4 was a bfn - i was counting on that to work. but here we are - attempt #3 for baby #2. i have so-so embies - so the doc is not giving this a great chance. she is preparing me for a fresh attempt if this doesnt work. anyway - we'll see.
i've been on a week off from work enjoying time off with my DS. it is so nice! i am really wishing i was a SAHM. maybe if my DH gets a good job we can swing it. we'll see. but this week with DS has been wonderful. i am really wanting to be a SAHM.

DHEA is a steroid, an androgen. it converts to testosterone as your body processes it, and more recent and well-credited research has shown that women with DOR had better response to IVF when they took testosterone.. and lots of research has been done on DHEA, although it's not been as 'well- credited' (sample sizes small, etc)

the worst thing that'll happen to you on DHEA is if you take it for too long (over 6 months) you may grow facial hair, and have a deepening voice (ie. turn into a man).. but they believe it reaches it's maximum efficacy at 3-4 months - so why would you take it longer anyways?

you take 75 mg /day, or 25 mg x3 a day. i experienced no side effects, same as everyother woman i've talked to.. and i've talked to LOTS. i researched the crap out of this drug, as my clinic was against it when i cycled to get my DS, but i believed it would give me a better chance, so i took it anyways. and i responded the best i ever did to treatment. AND got a child ..

it obviously doesn't work for all women, as for many it's provided no improvements to cycle results or antral follicle count.. but many women have had better results when taking before an IVF cycle, and many women have had spontaneous pregnancies on it while they were waiting to cycle for IVF- (LIKE ME!!!).... what an amazing surprise. it's hypothesized to increase BOTH egg quantity and quality.

google the NY center for human reproduction, as they are the main clinic treating women with DHEA before IVF, done the most research.. toronto fertility associates has partnered with them, and now many clinics use it.
