Afm-Just back from the RE........I have 10 follies at good size and 2 at 10 so 12 total...RE thinks I maybe ready wednesday to trigger and ER friday if not def. by weekend Oh boy the nerves are setting in.........

Hi everyone!

I had the ER this morning and I slept almost all day I woke up to eat some lentils with rice and some yougurt my DH made and then again back to sleep until 17:00. ...So, we left the clinic this morning after signing a few papers and receiving the prescription for the meds to follow the next 2 weeks and we forgot to ask how did it go today! Everybody at the time we left the clinic where busy with other couples that had ER, (it was like factory there) I was under the influence of drugs still and my DH forgot to ask. So, I called a while ago and I spoken with this embryologist and she told me that they had retrieve 9 eggs, 1 was empty (must have been the cyst my RE was telling me before) and 2 of them where immature. So, now we have 6 good ones that are fertilised. She told me this is just the first stage of course and tomorrow they will know for sure if those 6 are developing nicely or less. I am hoping that all 6 of them will do just fine! I feel a bit numb in my abdominal area but other than that I feel fine. I got a bag full of meds to keep me occupied for the following 2 weeks. Actually I got 7 deferent meds! With my previous RE, after the ER I only took prog suppositories but this one is more aggressive! So as of tonight I am taking Cyclogest 400g (prog.taken from the backstage), Crinone (taken from the frontstage) (sorry for TMI! ) starting as of Wednesday, Zinnat 500 (antibiotics) 2 times a day from today until Thursday, Buscopan 2 x 3times a day for 5 days, Corotrope 5mg/tab (cortisone), Clexane 20mg (injection) starting Wednesday and Evorel (estrogen patches) 2 every other day starting on Wednesday until the end of the 2 weeks. And of course, my regular dose of Ethyrox pills (for the hypothyroidism) and my Folic acid pills. So 9 meds in total. I am officially a druggie now girls! ...Depending on the tomorrows fert report we shall discuss with RE if we are going to proceed with CGH or FISH. More news on that tomorrow. No matter what we end up choosing I want the end result to be healthy embryos to transfer and a BFP in 2 weeks!

Rypell- CONGRATULATIONS ON THOSE BEAUTIFULL BABIES!!!! Welcome to the world Dylan and Isabella !!! You both looking gorgeous!!! Finally you are a mommy!! I am so happy for you my friend!!! You did it!!! I hope they get out of the NICU SOON to go home with you guys and to their beautiful nursery room you put up for them! Well done!...don’t you get lost now you! You need to be here when I get my BFP in two weeks!

Sorry if I left anyone behind...I am not cooking tonight! My DH gave me the day & the night off! He is making pasta tonight with tomato sauce and veggies....and I am ready to lay back and enjoy it!!

Lauren - Easley - Nicksgam - Longtimerivf - and all the ladies here, Thanks a lot for ur thoughts and prayers, it is always ur support and understanding that gives me the push to go forward on this journey since no one can understand what we r going through like each other.

Anton - glad to read ur ER went fine, i also slept all day long few more days and our babies will be back to their mommies
well im also taking crinone (no cyclogest), folic acid, estrogen (pills), vitamin D3, and cortisone (to supress my immune system i guess) but what is weird is that they didnt told me to do PIO shots (in all my last previous 5 cycles with my old RE i always started PIO shots one day after retrieval !!! i will ask about it on my ET day!! they didnt prescribe u PIO shots also??? that's weired!!

AFM: i had my ER today (still prefer my previous clinic everyone is kinder there) , everything went fine , 20 eggs retrieved, i'll call on wednesday to see how many fertilized... praying to have good blasts to transfer on day 5 (saturday)
what is weird is that they didnt told me to do PIO shots!!! anyone of u ladies wasnt told to do PIO shots ??? coz with my old RE i was always on them!!

Fruit- Hey girl! glad your ER went well! 20 eggs sounds like a lot of embies to me! Well done!! About PIO shots neither of both my RE's (previous & present) had me on PIO shots. Only during my 5th IVF when I had some brown blood (maybe implantation spotting) and my RE put me on PIO shots. other than that time I never had. So don't worry but if it makes you feel better call and ask your RE just to make sure. But remember! that we are getting our BFP's no matter what my friend! ... I sent you a bucket o'baby dust!!!

Anton-WOO-HOO!!!! Great job! well done...lentils (my favorite ) I actually made stuffed shells instead! Were so yummy!!! ANyway glad all went well....so funny how you forgot to ask about the eggs... thats like the first think I ask as Im waking up! That means you had some good drugs my friend! So 6 embabies how many follies did you have going into the ER? Im sure that one was a cyst and my RE says you dont always get a egg...Now all you need to do is REST up! and the good news is coming your way Im You will be PUPO in No time!!!! How about Ryann's twins? OMG arent they adorable!! Im so happy for her Does sound like a lot of drugs for you...i think I take an antibiotic a steroid estrace and progesterone and my vitamins...think thats it! when I order my meds I get a HUGE box and it has everything in it from start to finish AFM...I am super nervous! i dont know that I will be ready to trigger on wednesday but its coming soon and im getting nervous! the shots to me is the easy part...

Fruit-WOW! you egg machine 20...thats fabulous!!!! Hope your feeling ok! Drink lots of fluids and rest up! We have to wait until wednesday???? Will you ICSI them all? Im so happy for you Im sure all will go GREAT and you will be PUPO saturday with one or two perfect embabies!!!! As far as Progesterone...ive never taken anything other than Crinone...they say its just as good bc it absorbs right to the uterus where its needed! dont worry my friend...and its messy so just beware

I have been married for 10 years, ttc for 7 years and been through 4 IUI's. This is my first IVF and I am scheduled for my egg retreaval next week. Anyone have any suggestions about the whole process of the retreaval and the IVF process?

ASM: I had my 1st u/s today and my little seedling looks great! My beta is great and everything seems to be moving along well. I have another u/s on 7/28 and I hope to hear the heartbeat by then.

AFM- My ultrasound on Friday showed my lining at 10, and apparently my estrogen level was good, so I started PIO, doxycycline, and medrol on Saturday. Last dose of Lupron was Friday...I hate that stuff!!! I go back tomorrow for estrogen and progesterone check, and FET is scheduled for Thursday! I start heparin on Wednesday. I am so ready to bring these babies home!!!

Lauren- yes! Knowing how many eggs retrieved is definitely the first thing they tell after the ER. I found it really strange that we all had a black out and didn’t mention them at all. At least my excuse was that I was in La La land! Well, from the beginning (u/s’s) we saw 8 good follies and a couple smaller but by RE told me to count on those 8. He is not a believer of too many follicles that will do the magic, besides the OHSS possibility, it doesn’t mean that they are also full, there might be empty and not mature enough at the end. So he believes (and I am fine with it) that the 8-10 follies is a healthy number. Besides, we just need one! ...I am sure your RE knows what he is doing by triggering ‘’early’’ like you said. Don’t you worry honey! Everything is happening right on schedule for all of us! About the meds, it is funny that after ER we went down to the drug store (under my clinic) and we leave with a bag full of drugs to take for the next 2 weeks. The stim drugs I never take all I am going to need in one time. My RE doesn’t want me to buy something that I am not going to need so he prescribes me meds for 3 days at a time, I have the u/s on day 4 and then he prescribes me with meds for another 3 days. He does this with all patients so that they don’t go buy more drugs than they will actually need. And that my friend is good for my pocket since DH and I we are self paying IVF. He also made an arrangement for me this time with the drug store under the clinic, that if I don’t use all the drugs that I am buying they will take them back and give me my money. (the ones that I haven’t opened) Like this time, we will know Thursday/Friday after the results of the CGH or FISH if we are going to proceed with ET and thus needing all that drugs until the end of the 2 weeks so I am taking them back in case of bad news and we are not proceeding with the ET on Saturday. Of course I want to be positive that our embies will be perfect and Saturday is the day they are coming home to mama! Please God make them perfect! ...I totally agree that the stim shots are the easy part of the journey! For me the worse are the days following the ER until beta day!!!! Good luck to you! You’ll be PUPO before you know it!


Preyersnpies- Welcome to the Summer Board dear! The board that is full of BFP’s!! and here is where you will get yours too!! Everything is easy, don’t worry! It’s just a walk in park! ....I am sure this 1st IVF of yours is going to be the lucky one for you! ....after taking the stim shots and your follies are ready for the harvest, the ER (egg retrieval) day is finally here. They will put you under mild sudation (my first favourite part) you wake up dizzy like you are in La La land and go home to rest. Meanwhile, while they retrieve your eggs, your DH (dear husband) is giving himself a hand job in a sound proof room full of porn magazines and X video tapes. (a good day for both of you after all...not really) They call you next day or the following and give you the fertilization report (fert report) where you find out what did DH did in that sound proof room! ...then you decide whether to proceed with a 3dt (3 day transfer) or a 5dt (5 day transfer) also you decide how many embies to transfer and how many to freeze if any. Whatever day you decide to transfer, the experience of the ET (Embryo Transfer) day is the same. You pee for the last time 2hrs prior to the ET and drink a glass or two of water (I would prefer a J&T with ice and a slice of lemon instead but anyway ...) you need to have a full bladder when doing an ET. Just before you are about to pee in your pants you enter the theatre room where your embies are waiting for you. You lay back, spread your legs, your DH is on your side probably touching your hair or holding your hand as if you are ready for labour and the RE puts this tiny tube inside you and the embryologist enters the room (which is a connected room with the embryo lab and gives your embies to the RE where he puts them in that tube and my next best part for me is when you look into that monitor with DH and see your embies coming home, parked right next to your endometrium. That exact moment you are witnessing a miracle happening! You then lay down for 1hr or so and released to go home. Now the resting varies here. Personally, my RE always tells me to have a bed rest/couch rest for 3days counting as 1 the day of transfer. Getting up only to pee and avoiding the stairs is a must! My house is a three level house and so once I get up in the morning I go downstairs in the kitchen/tv room area and I never go upstairs to my bedroom until bed time. For the following days of the 2ww (2 week wait) not to lift any weight, not to bend over, walk slowly and avoid the stairs. No need to say avoid the obvious, running and heavy/tense exercising. Just keep your PMA (positive mental attitude) and imagine your embies sticking inside their mommy. The 2ww will pass and will go for your beta (check the CGH levels in your body that tells if you are pregnant or not) the higher the #’s are the more pregnant you are If positive you go for the second beta 2 days after and you are officially pregnant. After beta positive results you go home with DH and start throwing up or something During the 2ww after day 10 0f ER you can use the HPT (home pregnancy test) which is very popular in our board and you can get an early pick of the situation. Beware!!! If you get a negative that doesn’t mean it’s a negative, but if you get a positive after day 10 of ER then is definitely a BFP! (Big Fat Positive) And that’s about everything you need to know about IVF. OH! Forgot to mention! During that 2ww you might need to enter an asylum and also DH must be VERY patience with you or he might need to issue both yourselves into an asylum! As a woman to another woman, I am advising you to take advantage of your DH generous offers of relaxation and pampering especially during those first 3 days after ET ... I wish you good luck and a BFP at the end of this IVF rollercoaster ride of yours!!

AFM- It’s just another day in paradise girls! My abdomen feels better today and everything is looking good. I am anxious about our 6 fertilised embies and pray that they stay good and healthy and grow grow grow like they should. I am nervous about the CGH or FISH on Thursday and try to be positive. This waiting is nerve racking! But I am a survivor and I will survive this one too I guess. I will get a call from my clinic later on to let me know on the fertilisation of your 6 embies. Like I told you yesterday they got our 9 and one of them was empty (probably the cyst) and two of them not mature enough. So the embryologist I’ve spoken with yesterday (not the one that handles our case) told me that it looks that 6 got fertilized. So here we are on the waiting again... I really want my embies to be perfectly normal and do the ET on Saturday and get that BFP in two weeks! I really do! Is that so hard! God is big and he will give me my miracle! I just know it!

AFM: can't wait for tomorrow to get the news about my embies!! today i went to the beach for 3 hours, and when i came back home i prepared some vegetable chinese noodles, but it came up to be very salty (maybe coz of the soy sauce) so i couldnt eat a lot coz my RE said not to eat salty food (dunno why )
