I have a vacation planned right after IVF that involves flying and a change of altitude.... I haven't asked my Doc about it but does anyone know about any dont's during the 2ww??

Hi girls,

Just wanted to share this with you...I just called the clinic and I’ve spoken with the Head of Embryologists...out of the 6 fertilised eggs it seems to be developing/growing only the 2 of them. The other 4 even though fertilised still are a bit behind so we need to have a better picture tomorrow on how many. Since we are thinking of doing a CGH or FISH his opinion was if we left with these 2, to freeze them and do another fresh cycle, get more embies and then sent them to CGH or FISH. He told me this (a) b/c it is a fix amount (a lot of money) the pre-analysis procedure either of 2 or 20 embies. (b) if we have only 2 and we sent them for CGH or FISH we might not get a good picture of what is going on with them. The more the cells you test the more possibilities you have to have normal among up-normal ones if any. He also told me that this time my DH sperm was of Low Density. Of course I haven’t told my DH that! He would be devastated more than he is now! Oh God! I am praying that the other 4 make it to a good growth and they are just slow ones.

What you ladies think? Anything like this happened to you before? I am really nervous now and i want to cry. From all the times I ‘ve been through IVF this is the first time I feel so lost. Don’t know why. This is SO unfair! I wanted this to work this time. I don’t know if my DH agrees for another attempt if we don’t do this one. I am thinking, if we only have is those 2 then I will suggest that we go and transfer those two on a 5dt and hope for the best. Maybe this can do the magic anyway! Who knows! What do you ladies think? Any advice? I can’t share all this information with DH. For him to know that I worry that much will make things worse. I am the positive one so if he I tell him or if he sense that I am nervous more than normal about this it will kill him and I don’t want that. I am supposed to be the strong one here and me feeling/being ‘’weak’’ will make him feel that this is the end of the IVF road for us! I want to protect him as much as possible from getting more hurt than he already is...he already feels guilty and incomplete about his sperm issue, I don’t won’t him to feel worse than he already does!

I am sorry for the venting here....just needed to get this out of my system! thank you for "listening"...

Anton: I am praying for your 6 embibabies!!! And that you get some good news from the testing on Thursday. I will be checking on you! As for me, finally getting some relief from this loooooooooong bed rest. OB says I am to work up my energy level and he is giving me 2 more weeks at home to do so. That gives me some relief because I was worried about returning to work on week 23...this way I can go back on week 25, when things are a little more "safe". After that, he would prefer I return 20 hours a week..but not sure if that is compatible with my employer. I will call tomorrow and check that out. Carrying around these 2 babies is hard work---and one is a lb and the other 14 oz. (Sorry, I don't know what that would be in grams, but it is on target.) Sending you lots of baby dust my friend!!!!

Fruit: Glad that you got so many eggs!! Hoping you get a fabulous report tomorrow!! The beach sounds like a fabulous place to be after ER. That is funny about avoiding salty foods, because to prevent OHSS they say to eat salty foods. Go figure. Take care!!! Oh, and I didn't have any PIO shots for this last cycle--just crinone and oral Prometrium 2X a day...the PIO seems to be clinic-dependent. Some use it, others don't. I got my BFP that stuck without it and had really high progesterone levels.

prayersnpies: Hello! And welcome...I am a "stalker" which means that I cycled with many of these strong, delightful women before and I come back to check on them. Feel free to ask me any questions--I do not mind, and have a few years of ART "experience." Regarding the air travel, you will be fine. I had my procedure done across the US. After bed rest for 48 hours I got on a plane to fly back home. My RE said it was totally fine. Now, the tricky part is making sure you don't lift anything heavy and that you keep yourself well hydrated. Best of luck to you!!

margi26 - thank u for the informations about PIO shots, i was so confused about it, but now im much better after u ladies told me that not all ur clinics use them and that u got ur bfp even without them.
glad u r done with the bed rest and i wish u all the luck with ur work, hopefully ur employer will be wise enough to give u these 20 hours per week.

Anton: I posted the same time as you did and didn't see your update. Oh, my, what a decision. ((HUGS)) Hm....well, tomorrow you will have a better idea if a few of the 4 are catching up in growth? If you have more, than you will go ahead with the testing I presume? I hate to think it terms of money, but unfortunately, it is a reality of life. What would the cost be for ET if you only have 2? Versus cycling again to get some more embies to test a bunch at once and then transfer? What does RE recommend? Waiting? Gosh, honey, I don't know what I would do....I think I would lean toward freezing if only two and then cycling again to be able to test more, although I know how desperately you want to move forward and I would too in your shoes, so I don't know what is "best". I am sending you lots of positive energy and prayer. You are a strong and smart woman and I know that together with your own heart and mind, your RE, embryologist and DH you will make the best decision for your situation.

Anton - Oh my dear friend im so sad to hear about ur latest news i don't know what to tell u, i've never been in this situation, never done PGD, but maybe u can start a new topic and ask Ghost about it and maybe ladies who has been through this can tell u about their experience!
i will be praying for all ur 6 embies to made it till saturday and if not, u will always have ur little 2 babies and remember u only need one to make it, and u will do ur ET on saturday.
im so touched how u r always considering ur DH feelings and don't worry u will get ur BFP this cycle (with 2 or with 6 embies) u will get ur BFP.
if u are very confused, try to ask Ghost what are his thoughts about ur situation, he will help u, im sure he has seen in his clinic some similar cases..
i will be praying for ur other 4 embies to grow and grow...

Anton...I'm so sorry you are stuck with such a decision. I wish I could help, but I honestly have no clue what I would do in your situation. My heart would tell me to transfer the 2 and my head would say to wait. I hate when they don't agree! Hopefully you will get some good news tomorrow!

Lauren- Yes we have cycled together before. We are doing a Gonal-F 300 units and menopur 37 units this time. I have ganirelex but we have not had to start it yet. We have done the micro-flare before and got 4 eggs but not great quality. this time we are doing my cycle and looking at a doing a split cycle with another couple for a donor. The plan is to freeze mine and the donors take the best out of all them. some mine and some hers throw them all in at once in October and sees what happens. I am on my 9th day of stims.

Anton- Honey I would have no idea what to do. Pare of me would just go ahead with the 2 but then I would want to get all I could. Tough decision.

longtimerivf- I am so excited to hear your beta!!!!

AlwaysAngel- congrats on ur BFP :):)

AFM; I am started bleeding last night which worried me about my follices. I was not worried about the lining since ET is not until October. Today is my 9th day of stims and I went this morning for my us and blood work this morning. I have 8 potential eggs The largest is at 20 and smallest is 10. So far so good They said not to worry about the bleeding.

Anton - Oh my...I am praying your embies grow like crazy. All I can say is what a tough spot. My heart says transfer the two, you know it really only takes one. However, if you could get more....I say make DH eat tuna. You and DH are in my prayers. Keep your chin up. God will answer your question, just be open to receive it. TONS of baby dust to you...

Anton-Oh my dear friend....(((((HUGS)))))) and I want to say you are such a sweet heart and care so much about your DH but my dear its ok...you cant always be strong even the strongest have "weak" moments and times! Thats why we are here to hopefully help you thru these hard times...Ok so its hard to say exactly what I would do but heres the thing...my DH has the MF too! What did density mean? Just not good? Ive been in your boat and bad fertilization the last time I cycled and my thoughts are....IF its very important for you to get this special testing done so you and your DH get some answers to your struggles I think waiting...(only bc of the expense whether its one egg or 10 eggs) and freezing what you have is a good decision if money is an issue and cycling again is in the budget....if NOT than taking those two (and hopefully more....mine caught up in the past) embabies home to you is in your heart than thats ok too! You take a chance but its not wrong either way... You are a strong women and it only takes "one" and we all know that but ONLY you know your history and whats best for you. It sounds like your RE was suggesting to wait bc it seems he wants the answers and wants to save you money as well. I dont think either decision is a bad one.....honestly I know you will make the right decision for YOU and your DH! AFM-Just hanging out...back to RE in am to see whats going on. I cant imagine im gonna trigger already. Ive never done it so soon! will see. Im not even sure the size they have to be to trigger lol....if not by thurs or friday im sure! I will be taking some more time off from work...not sure if I feel like explaining myself to my boss or just going on on family medical leave...I just hate everyone knowing my business at work especially since all I do is deliver babies! anyway im hungry gotta figure out dinner...hope my friend Anton is ok....

girl am thinking about you and dh and sending positive vibes your way. i will say a prayer that all 6 embies make it. i know you are faced with a tough decision to make. lol i wonder what i would do in your shoes. of course we all want the best answer but follow your instincts and what you will be comfortable with. its very tempting gosh i dont know if i would just transfer all 6 and let it be or proceed with the test. i know finances play a role so you and dh just talk over it and see what works best for you guys. either way will keep you in prayer ang good luck dear.
