I have a midwife that I'll be sticking with. I've gone to her for years and have lots of friends that have delivered with her (still hospital birth). It's a midwifery group at Vanderbilt hospital here in Nashville. Seems to me like the best of both worlds -- we shall see. :-)

I, too, have a Doppler that was gifted to me but I haven't gotten any gel yet. I know it will be hard to find heart beat at this stage and I don't want to stress over it. If I have the gel, I'm tempted to use it. If I don't have the gel, there's no temptation.

Bliss- the dopper can be frustrating. I heard my babies HB right at 11 weeks. Then couldn't find it for another week or so. Then i could find it but it was pretty hard and it would only stay for a 30 seconds or so. It wasn't till around week 16 that i could find it every time. When i first started out i had to turn the volume all the way up. Now if I listen to it i have to turn the volume most of the way down because it so loud.. You'll get there.

Nancy - Congrats on getting released to your OB. Another step down.

Thanks Chris- that advice will help DH. I am okay with not being able to find it (even though it is annoying) because I am on these boards enough to know not to freak out, but DH sometimes seems even more nervous than I am. I think its because if anything were to happen, he would have his own pain to deal with, but he is also super sensitive about me being hurt.

AFM- funny thing finally happened today. It finally occurred to me that I really am pregnant and I am seriously going to have this little one. It must be hearing the heartbeat yesterday and being 12 weeks this week. I feel like "wow...this is really going to happen!!!" :-)

Hey Ladies . . . I tried posting last night but the site was down . . . thanks so much for your good thoughts! Baby is okay! I had an u/s and a pelvic exam. OB didn't see any active bleeding and baby was bouncing around all over the place on the u/s. H/b was great and he's still measuring right on track. Little stinker! He is giving me a heart attack! :D

Mora- so relieved! I was bummed about the site being down last night and kept trying to get out here to check on you. Yay for your little stinker being in great shape!

Nancy- Somehow I missed the post where you said you were going back to a midwife for a hospital birth. That would be WONDERFUL!!! So jealous. Its tough living in a beautiful, rural, resort area sometimes. Wise move on the doppler at this stage I think.

AFM: DH and I found a perfect and strong heartbeat within 30 seconds of looking last night. I kept it too for like a full 3 or 4 minutes. My Mom was here today and we tried for about 5 minutes with no luck. The little one is definitely swimming around and is hard to catch. Still, sooooo happy DH was able to hear it (and not worried at all)!

Alisa: I just read your post on the other forum . . . how sad! :( Maybe if you share your concerns with DH, he'll voluntarily remove himself from sailing for a while . . . as scary as it is, there are dangers everywhere . . . car accidents, diseases, food poisonings, etc. I never really thought about it until DD was born . . . chances are, those horrible things won't happen to your family . . .you just can't get let fear get you . . . Life is too short . . . I would recommend looking into getting life insurance policies for you and DH, just in case the unthinkable happens . . . DH and I pay about $50 a month altogether for our policies and if I never have to use them, it's the best $$$ I ever spent . . . peace of mind knowing that DD is taken care of, no matter what . . . we also did our living will and trust to provide for DD and choose her guardian (legalzoom.com is affordable). . . again, not a fun conversation to have, but peace of mind knowing DD is taken care of . . .

Hi Girls - I cycled with some of you of the past year of me being on this board and got pregnant three times & subsequently lost them all....it was a very sad spring for us as we grieved at the loss of our babies & also possibly the loss of adding a second child to our family. Then a little miracle happened the birth Mom that gave us our precious angel Emilee called us and said she is pregnant again and would we like to adopt her baby and of course we jumped at the chance we are definitely not getting any younger! Anyways I wondered if you all would let me join your group our birth Mom is due January 28th (so about 12 weeks & 2 days along today) I know it will be different but I just loved being on this board and I miss everyone so much & all the support. It is so hard to find somewhere that you belong in this crazy infertility journey and it is even harder when you don't succeed with IVF where do you go?? Since we are getting in on this birth so much sooner (last time we had about 3 weeks!!!!) I will be going to all the appointments and all the tests etc...even though they won't be happening to me I will have some insight.....thanks girls & I am so excited to bring home another little nugget!

Katie- again congratulations! I just absolutely love that you are going to have the opportunity to go through the process with your birth mother and you TOTALLY belong here. I feel lucky to have you on the board to share this with. What a unique and wonderful experience. :D

Mora- I thought about posting that story over here too but didn't want to overwhelm/hog the board. My feelings about DH and sailing have already passed. Yesterday was such a shock and something that really weighed on me all day. Sailing is certainly safer than driving to work every day and is something DH loves infinitely more. Like you said, life is too short. I will still worry about him, but that is my job as a wife and mother. I would never dream of taking his passion away from him. :D

DH and I put life insurance in place after we got married. As a two income household we didn't want to burden each other with the expenses in the event something happened, even without kids. Funny you mention it, we were just talking about a trust tonight. Being a banker, its not something that bothers me to think about at all. I have seen all to often what happens to people when their loved ones are unprepared. The biggest decision for us though is who we would leave the baby to. Oddly enough, we are leaning toward my childless, single brother. He loves kids, is super good with money, and I know that he would love our LO as much as we will. Have to talk to him about it but I know he will be honored. Hope it doesn't tee our other siblings off! Did you have any issues with that?

AFM- Next appointment Thursday. Yay! Hope you all are doing well.

Hello everyone,

We recently went through IVM and are 11 weeks pregnant with twins. This was our first procedure. So far the babies are doing fine but I am really scared and concerned about their well being. My expected due date is Feb 8th, however they can arrive in January too.

My doctor has made it clear to not be attached to the twins as I have not yet passed the first trimester. But that is so hard to do. On top of that because of my petite frame I am worried that my body will not able to carry them to term. A lot of mixed emotions at this point.

I have a 3rd ultrasound on August 2nd where the lab will do nuchal translucency test. Hopefully everything goes well.

It is very encouraging to read everyone's success stories and progress. Gives me hope.

Best of luck to all.
