Quality in S/A- Ghost

ok my dh is under the allusion that it's best to hold out as long as he can for our upcoming iui procedure. We are talking about more than two weeks but not greater than a month, could holding out too long effect the quality of the swimmers? He is thinking this is why it didn't work last time, that the count wasn't strong enough but with the last IUI we had intercourse on a Sunday with the procedure Tuesday morning...
What is a good length of time to preserve those precious little ones?

Christy- If I understand your DH correctly, he want to avoid ejaculation for more than 2 weeks? From what I've been told, it is best to not ejaculate 3-5 days before the procedure, but it should definitely not be more than a week. Does that make sense? Basically, more than 2 weeks would not be ideal. From what I understand they don't want old sperm, so you shouldn't abstain more than 4-5 days. Hope this helps. I would also call the RE.

Christy: When we did IUI's we were told almost exactly what Ester just said....too long can actually be a detriment. But definitely double check with RE.

Thank you ladies, I will check when I go in tomorrow, but with the way things are growing he may not have much time before the IUI happens...yikes! I will call my RE today for a better understanding of our "timeline"!
