Leora you are not crashing honey you are always welcome to talk to us

I had two cervical surgeries so my doctors were concerned that I "may possibly have Ic" keep in mind I was never diagnosed with it but DH and I did not want to take any chances so before we began IUI's and IVF's we had the TAC put in. My reasons were as followed

1 I have read that TVC's have a higher rate of failing and when they do they tear the cervix which really scared me...I don't want further damage or scarring to my cervix
2. Also I have read Karen(scorpio's) story of PTL at 22/23 weeks and she had a TVC and it still failed and she still lost both of her precious girls.
3 also I did not want any surgeries done once I was pregnant since it increased a chance of loss and infection.

I understand your concerns regarding what happens is you experience a loss with a TAC and unfortunately there too I have experience. Last summer I had IVF but unfortunately had a m/c at 7/8 weeks. My TAC did not get in the way of my loss and I did not have to have a d &C. I was able to have contractions and expel everything even with my TAC. I was explained that my TAC allowed for the cervix to dilate to 1 cm which allows for access in/out of the Uterus. Should I have needed a d and e it would have been possible without any complications.

I am very grateful to my doctors for advising DH and I into getting a TAC and would recommend it to anyone who even suspects the "possibility of IC"

Lastly, my TAC is permanent and does not need to be replaced. If I get pregnant again I do not need a new TAC. However with TVC's you would need a new one for each pregnancy as well as they do not allow access to the uterus so will need to be placed post pregnancy and removed if anything goes wrong

Leora and anyone else interested in this topic I am posting this on the general forum because this is important info and docs often do not share all of the details with us. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have

Hi All!

Margi -- Thanks hun! I'm really looking forward to it. I bet you're excited to go back to work after being home for soooo long. Just take it easy, OK?

Wehavehope -- Good luck on your upcoming fall FET!

Rio -- Thanks! Shower should be fun. I'm so sorry you are so worried about Lizzy's weight. But I think Gina and Amanda have good advice. You're in my thoughts!

Blissful- Gosh, I'm still so sorry for your friend. I cannot imagine. You didn't scare me any more than I already was. The truth is, those things do happen and I already knew that. But each day when I feel my baby get more and more active, I feel more confident that I will meet her. I have no experience with BV, but I'm glad you are checking into it as a precaution even though I really feel you and baby will be alright.

Leora -- You are never crashing when you post here! I agree with you on your assessment of the TAC... it can only help. I say, go for it! Anna's post is full of great info.

AFM -- My baby shower is tomorrow! I'm really excited. I haven't been the center of attention since I got married in 1995. I'm expecting 50 people with a lot of the "men" hanging out at my house during the event which is at a golf club only 1mile away. The intent was for the men who were driving their wives to have somewhere to go... it now has turned into kids and men and nearly 20 people! I went to Sam's Club and bought food, snacks, brownies, and beverages for everyone and spent $80. Geeze! Other than that, DH and I put together the baby's room today. I don't have the wall decor up yet so it's a little barren but I'll post a few pics so you all can see. I think it's coming along nicely. Nothing is washed yet... but I put it all together since people will be over and want to see it.

Anna- Congrats!!! I cant wait to see pictures of baby Paul. I am sure he is one handsome little guy/ Hope it all went smoothly.

Lou- Love the nursery pics!! We had actually debated for awhile on doing chair rail too. Chloe will love her new room! Hope your shower went well and everyone had a great time.

Leora- I agree with many others and think you should definitely look into having something done to prevent IC. You all have been through so much already and it seems like a TAC could be what you need to carry full term. Hoping you find an OB in Israel who supports you and can write you the letter to have it all covered. Good luck and keep us posted.

Alisa- Sounds like your OB may have too many patients on the schedule to pay close attention to each one. Though Ive never actually had BV, at one point my OB prescribed the oral treatment for it since she didnt know why I was having so much pain/discomfort. I tested negative for a yeast infection so she just thought the BV treatment would be the next step. I will say that the meds that they make you take for it are a lot like "Antabuse" a drug used to chronic alcoholism. I had never heard of BV and increased risk of PTL but hopefully you can get it all worked out. If you showed them the studies would they be willing to see you every few weeks to measure your cervix and make sure they dont see any changes?

Rio- I am so sorry to hear you are not getting any breaks whatsoever between feedings and pumping. I really hope that Lizzy is starting to pack on the lbs for you. Hopefully she is but if not Im sure supplementing for a little while will help greatly. Best of luck.

Margi- When are you going to post those belly pics?? Hoping you are starting to get some energy back so you can go to work, but I would have to agree with your husband and say that I would try to do part time for awhile just to get back into the swing of things. I would hate for you to try and overwork yourself only to end back up on bedrest.

Mamaboo- Stinks to hear you are going crazy on bedrest. Have you tried any new hobbies to keep you busy?

AFM- Nothing too exciting to report which is a good thing. We went to dinner with friends who are 2-3 wks behind us and she complained about being pregnant, and then talked about how scared she was of everything to come. Im not sure whether its just because weve been trying for so long and I had time to prepare myself, but at this point Im not that scared. She was also commenting on how we were doing everything so early- i.e. registering, bedding, getting things ready to paint...but I thought we were on track especially since I could potentially deliver a lot earlier than she would. Am I crazy to think all this?

*Crashing for some of my former cycle buddies* :D

Leora, it ws so good to hear from you! No worries we will keep your secret safe and cannot wait to stalk you in your next pregancy al the way to a heathy newborn. I wish you the best in your jobsearch, maybe something part-time,I know seasonal is always tough but maybe if you proved to them that you are the best they could keep you on. All the very best my friend.

Margi, :D the girls are right, we need belly shots!

Anna, Congratulations, your journey gives me much encouragement. You will not believe that on my 4th IUI attempt they agreed to let me go with seven robust follicles, but warned me about the chance for multiples and mentioned reducton. This is the most I've ever used (normally 2-3 in the past.) The crazy things that could happen but I'm taking the risk. :D

Blairwitch, personally I don't agree with your friend. She doesn't understand that you've made it this far and you are entitled to enjoy every moment. Could she be trying to over-protect you, but it's people like that who make us think crazy thoughts.

Loving those baby pictures, keep them coming! :D

I missed so much.

Hopeisallihave- Glad you were able to get of the induction list. Oh and eating healthy is soo expensive. Pretty sad when you think about it. It's cheaper to go eat McDonalds everyday than it is to make food at home. What has the world become.

Blair- You look so good. Oh and your friend just doesn't understand all the things that can go wrong in a pregnancy. As a matter of fact most of my pregnant friends are now having there showers 2- 2-1/2 months before there due date. Seriously who wants to be decorating a nursery and out shopping when your so far into your last trimester. I almost missed by first shower because I went on bed rest. I got permission after my family begged my doctor to let me go. I was only allowed to go open gifts have a quick eat and then back home. (That was 20 years ago :() It sucked. I think you are right to be doing that stuff know. I am already registering and my bf is sending my invites out in a few weeks as my shower is on October 1st. I'll only be 26 weeks but Im having my baby at 36 weeks. Also it's so we could space the showers apart as Chris's best friends wife is due on December 21st and will be inviting the same people.

WeHave hope- I'm so sorry to hear of your numbers dropping. Please keep us updated on your visit today.

Anna- Congratulations on Paul's birth  Can not wait to see pictures and birth story! By the way you look absolutely sexy pre-pregnancy and pregnant.

Kjm1824- Sorry to hear the baby is puttign so much pressure on your bladder. I don;t have any experience on the belt but anxious to hear people's response as well on them.

Lou- So sorry about the Gerd it sounds so uncomfortable. I love love your nursery. Can't wait to hear about your shower. It sounds like it will be a good time.

Margi- Glad your doctor is lettign you at least try and go back to work and I hope it works out and you can continue to work. Havign been on bedrest with my first pregnancy I understand how boring and hard bed rest is.

Riogrl- Sorry to hear Lizzy is not putting on the weight she should. I don;t have much experience with breast feeding as my son refused to breast feed and I internally bleed after havign ANgela so she just got the colostrom as my milk never came in even after 2 weeks of pumping and tryign to breast feed her for a few days. I was just to sick so had to switch to formula :( I hope your feeling better soon as I can only imagine how uncomfortable it must be.

Alisa- That really stinks you are dealing with this. I hope things work out and you don;t have any issues with PT.

Leora- I'm glad you found that board and are looking into the VAC. Is the woman'd doctor who got her the paid trip to the US a doctor close enough by you could get a second opinion from him?

AFM: I just spent the weekend in Maine. All day Saturday I shopped for my sons College dorm :( He's all set know and has everything he needs. He's pretty excited I'm in tears everytime I think about him going off to College. I left everythign at my Moms as the College he's going to is 100 feet from my Mom's :)) So happy about that so she can keep an eye on him and make sure he's doing is laundry and taking showers;) I worked on my resistry list but it's overwhelming. So much stuff.

Kat- Those were my thoughts exactly. I dont want to be on bedrest and not able to have any input into the nursery so we figured we would get started early. We also have friends coming in town (we met 2 yrs ago in Italy) so I want to have the walls painted before they get here in Sept. I think once you know the sex you might as well get started on the registry before you cant walk around the store without being uncomfortable. Stinks that you almost missed your first shower with your son but hopefully having this one sooner will prevent that. Looks like we will both be having showers on Oct 1!! My first family shower is with DHs famly on Sept 24, and then my families shower is Oct 1. Even though I will only be 27 and 28 weeks respectively, I would much rather be able to enjoy the showers.

Annashope - CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of baby Paul!! Woo-hoo!! You did a great job fellow TAC sister and I can't wait to see pics of the little guy. P.s. those pics you posted were beautiful!!

Lou - love the pics of the nursery!! So nice!

Blair - Great pic of the bump! You're all belly. :D

Leora - I had my TAC done post-pregnancy after Karen(scorpio) saw a post about me worrying about not having much of a cervix left after all of the surgeries I've had on it. She gave me Dr Davis's email and he emailed me back the following night. We spoke on the phone once to discuss my options and I went to see him for a consultation. Luckily for me he practices within a half hour from my home but he has patients come from all over the world for the surgery. The rest is history - I had my TAC at 12w4d and all went well. I was really nervous about having abdominal surgery during pregnancy but I got to see the LO on u/s before the surgery, was awake for the surgery with a spinal, and got to see the LO on u/s before they sewed me up again. I spent one night in the hospital (seeing the LO one more time on u/s before leaving) and the recovery was similar to a c-section recovery. And because I'd had a hard time with my 2 previous OB's here in NJ, Dr Davis offered to see me through my pregnancy which I happily took him up on. He and Dr Haney (in Chicago) are the most experienced TAC surgeons out there, having done hundreds, so while I can't speak from personal experience on Dr Haney I know that Dr Davis is amazing and helped pioneer the TAC procedure.

AFM, Maribel continues to delight and amaze us. She is colicky though so evenings can be quite challenging with cry-a-thons as my DH likes to call them. We do bicycle legs, lots of walking & bouncing, belly massage, and tried both gas drops and gripe water. Nothing in particular actually "works" to help it, it's just finding what works from our list of tricks for that hour, that night. I'll be really happy when the colic goes away though, I'll tell you that! :D

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hi - sorry for crashing - but just wanted to share - a lot of "colicky" babies are not really colicky but just have heartburn. have you tried talking to your pediatrician about it? we gave our DS prevacid and his crying stopped. they now think that colic is just heartburn. ask your pediatrician just in case. prevacid is perfectly safe and it helps a lot. at this age the baby's asofagus is too weak to close properly, so the acid can spill out and create heartburn for them. whcih hurts and that's why the cry. prevacid took care of it for us.
