Welcome to our forum for parents expecting in 2012. We decided to expand our Due in Winter 2012 board to include more ladies, many of whom we have cycled with in the past and end up stalking anyway!

Hi Ladies! I hope it's okay I join your board...I was definitely stalking the board from afar! I was on the IVF board and I was very fortunate that after my first IVF cycle, we are expecting I wanted to wait a bit to join the pregnant board as we are being cautiously optimistic until we get out of the first trimester. But I had my 9 week u/s with my RE yesterday and he says everything looks right on track! I have 1 more appointment with him on 8/19 and then off to the OB on 9/2.

I look forward to taking this fabulous journey with all you fine women and hear your stories/experiences.

We have not yet announced our news to the family - We have one couple that knows as they did fertility treatments and it was a source of information as I started out on the journey. We currently live in PA, along with my DH's family and my mom lives out of state. So we are flying her in the weekend of August 26th and sharing the news with the family then as I will be over 12 weeks by that point. I am still trying to come up with something creative to share the news!

Welcome Dreams- great to have you as the first new member on our new board. You have every reason to feel great about your pregnancy. My OB said that a HB after 9 weeks was a really good sign and safe to announce. So we did!

I didn't do anything super cute...Addy did though. I will let her tell you about it.

AOTW- I manage people over a great distance at work so I decided to tell by an email entitled "New Team Member". Everyone on my team was geeked! On the personal side, We told family and friends one on one. Then I announced on facebook by posting a picture that said "The Winslow family at their first Detroit Tigers game. That's me on the left, Bill on the right, and you can't see baby Winslow yet...that will take another 6 months." As you can imagine, the comments blew up. It was fun.

We are planning a gender reveal party. Not sure what we are going to do yet. I think it may be a bumble bee theme. We'll have a baby bee cake that says "What will it Bee?" When we cut into it it will be pink or blue and everyone will know! We wanted to do something special since our closest friends and family knew we were doing IVF and found out the beta results via text messages while I was away on business. We feel we owe them a little bit of a surprise! And frankly, we think we deserve one too.

Ladies- have a GREAT weekend. Headed to a golf resort to celebrate our last anniversary with just the two of us!

Oh man, Bliss - i would love to join this group. And let me tell you if not this cycle then next cycle - i'll keep trying untill i am on this thread!!!! i have it in me for at least 2 cycles before i give up and start coming to terms with raising my kid as an only child. so save me some room

Hi ladies! I will be joining this group as I am due April 11, 2012. I'm not telling anyone except for a few of my closest friends as it is still soooo early, and we have not had the first u/s yet, but I am confident that all is well. My husband, on the other hand, is telling everyone lol. Whatever! Glad to be a part of the group!

Okay...I'm dying to join this board, but I'm really scared after having a miscarriage at 6 weeks in May. I got my BFP with a beta of 980 11dp5dt and 2565 at 14dp5dt. Next beta is Monday, and ultrasound is 8/24. I'm super nervous about miscarriage, but trying to stay positive as these numbers are higher than they ever got last time. My beta doubling time is 51 hours which makes me a little worried. Last time I had a lot of bleeding, and this time I just have a little pink or brown occasionally when I wipe. My progesterone is only 19, but they say anything over 15 is okay. I'm just obsessing over it because of the miscarriage.

Anyway, sorry to throw all of my worries out there. I'm very curious to see if it's twins with the high betas...or even triplets We only transferred 2, so twins would be more likely. I'm hoping to be able to stay on this board with a happy, healthy pregnancy! I will be due April 7.

Wishing - Our u/s is the same day! And I think everyone here understands your caution. I too feel cautious because it is sooooo early, and we haven't seen a heartbeat yet. My doubling time was 35 hours, which has me nervous as heck that it could be twins. My numbers aren't quite high enough to totally mean that, but still. I am hoping for a singleton.

Dogzrule- I wouldn't worry too much about the beta doubling time. I've read a lot on that at this point because I was worried with mine being 51 hours instead of 48 or less. It seems that there is a huge variation, and as your HCG gets higher the doubling slows. Such a short doubling time for you may just mean 1 very healthy bean! I hope everything works out just as you want it to! We would be very happy with twins, but triplets scare the crap out of me! My numbers are high enough to be triplets, but my doubling isn't too fast, so I'm hoping it's 2 healthy beans! Now I just need to make sure I can keep up my progesterone!

Bliss- We told our parents, close friends that knew about the IVF, and my coworkers. I took almost 2 weeks off after my FET to try to keep down my stress, so I kind of had to let people know what was going on. We told my parents when we went to visit them after several positive HPTs...no beta at that point. My mother had bought stuff to make sandwiches for lunch, and I told her that I couldn't eat any of the lunch meat (I hate hot lunch meat). When she looked confused, I said "I'm pregnant!" We told DH's parents when we were out to dinner, but not creatively at all. After the miscarriage, we're so cautious that we don't make too big of a deal out of the positive beta. We won't tell anyone else until 12 weeks. I don't know how we're going to do it. I love the idea of the cake though!

Love the new thread....I am vacation still and trying to read when I get wifi......sounds like everyone is doing great! Having fun but kinda of can't wait to get home! My baby boy dreams have gotten more vivid and detailed like the two kids playing together at all different ages it is kinda fun....my husband says then for sure it will be a girl! No matter healthy is all we want. Will be back in full force after we get back from vacation.....

Everyone (co-workers, family, friends, etc.) knew we were doing IVF because I was very open with our fertility struggles . . . The day of our beta, people were coming up to me left and right, wanting to know . . . it felt so good to be supported and even better to tell them I was Pregnant! =) Like Bliss, we are also planning a gender reveal party since IVF kinda takes the surprise out of things . . . our u/s is scheduled for 9/7, so we're thinking of having the party on 9/17 . . . hope the baby co-operates!

Dreams - We told our parents with these M&Ms we had made that say #1 grandma/grandpa, boy or girl? and a pic of a pacifier. Since we told them over the 4th of July weekend, we went with a red, white, and blue theme. It took them all a few minutes to figure out there were messages on the M&Ms, but when they did their expressions and reactions were priceless.

We told all of our friends with DH wearing this shirt. Don't mind my dog, she saw the camera and jumped in the shot. She just assumed I wanted a picture of her


I really want to throw a gender reveal party, but I don't think it's going to happen. I saw a blog that just had some of the cutest ideas! So for those of you looking for any ideas, here a few that I loved:

For guests to have some thing to do while they ate and mingled, they had blue and pink pieces of paper for guests to contribute name suggestions and drop them into a bowl. They did the Chocolate Bar Game, which I find kind of gross hehe. Chocolate bars are melted into diapers and guests are asked to guess which candy bar they are. The last activity they did involved a list of Old WIves Tales about how to predict the gender of the baby. They pulled the mother and father to the front of the group and went through a list of these tales, they recommend an odd number of questions so there wouldn't be a tie. They posted the results with little blue and pink onsies.

For the food they had all of her pregnancy cravings. For the big reveal they had 50 mini cupcakes and filled them with either pink or blue frosting, based on the envelope from the ultrasound nurse. The cupcakes were topped with yellow and green frosting. With full sized cupcakes, sometimes when you bite into them you may not actually get to the colored frosting. With mini cupcakes, they are more manageable in size, so everyone would get to find out the results at the same time.

We are also going to do our gender reveal with cakes. It is tricky though bc I need 2 cakes. We will find out Thursday!!!!!!!!!! I will have to let the grandparents on each side know ASAP that day. So we are taking the cakes over to his parents that night, and I am having cakes delivered to my mom's (lives in Tenn.) that afternoon as well. I am going to Tenn to visit my family on Friday, but they said that in no way could I wait and do it in person a day later!!! Everyone is way too eager!

Hi everyone, if nobody minds I would LOVE to join this board. I am due March 14, 2012, my 9wk U/S is on Thursday and I can't wait! We never made it to 9wks with our twins (M/C Jan 2011) so I will be thrilled to get over that hill. We are expecting one little bean this time and have only told family so far. I have never heard of a gender party before but it sounds like so much I think I might have one too! So glad I found this board and I am really looking forward to following everyones journey.
