Hi All~ We're about to try for number two as well. We had our 3.5 year old girl with our first IVF attempt and are now doing and FET with our one frozen blast. Praying it works. I guess the embryos are not supposed to age (embryo age 37), I am 41, May all of you get your heart's desire and those who have been disappointed, may you have strength to perservere. We should start the injections in a week or so...I was put on birth control about one week ago because when my cycle started and I called the doc, he was on vacay!! So he should be back monday and they will get me started on injections within a few days, I would guess. we have decided for lots of reasons, if this doesn't work, we will probably not initiate a brand new IVF cycle. They gave me about a 40% chance for this FET. Will be in touch. :)

I've rediscovered this forum since two years ago when we were going through our first IVF (we got our beautiful baby girl, now 15 months). It was nice to find a thread exactly addressing what I'm going through. We decided to try for #2 this summer, since with infertility there really isn't a lot of luxury of time. We have two frozen embryos, which are both of ok quality. It was agonizing for me to decide on going the IVF route again. I really never thought I would want to subject myself to all of this all over again. But then the consideration was that the FET could fail, and we'd just have to do the IVF anyway later when egg quality could be worse, or even if we were successful, I would not have any embryos left for the option of a 3rd baby. I know for a lot of women dealing with this, just one baby would be a blessing, and thinking to possibly wanting a third almost offensive, but struggling with my PCOS has made me want more children than I might have if I were "normal". My husband didn't at first understand this since neither if us had imagined having more than 2 kids, but he supported my need to preserve my fertility and we decided on another round of IVF to hopefully be able to save more embryos for a possible 3rd.

Anyway, getting ahead of myself... So I was all ready to start with my box of meds in mid June when my baseline level were off and the doctor found I was growing a follicle on my own. There was the chance my body was deciding to be normal (although very unlikely in retrospect: I was on bcp and lupron), so we excitedly tried the old fashioned way. Waited 2 wks, no period, neg preg test, it has become a 30mm cyst. So mid July I went on Provera to induce a period to get hormones back, which worked, but the cyst was still the same size. I opted to have a cyst aspiration, as I really want to get this moving along already, so we were able to stim right away. I responded well (maybe even too well, we had to coast for the last couple days), and my trigger is in 2 hrs.

It's weird how this second time has been just as frustrating and stressful as the first time. In a way it's better because I am busy with the child we already have, so my mind is not completely consumed by this. Yet in another way I seem to have higher expectations. Which are so very very dangerous. I just hope we can do this without any more disappointments, knowing that we're already very lucky. I am not looking forward to the waiting or worrying. That us, if it's even a positive at all :|

Hi dtao! I think I remember you from two years ago, as we had our little ones one month apart. I'm sorry this time has been just as tough for you. For me, it was a piece of cake because it was an FET. I cannot imagine doing a fresh cycle again, but I totally understand why you did, given your desire for three! Hang in there. The 2ww still sucked this time, but I was so busy I did not have as much time to dwell on it! Wishing you all the best, and so glad you joined us! :D

Hi guys- i am on the summer thread but i am also trying for #2.
Congrats, dogzrule! That's so wonderful that your FET worked and i wish you a calm and uneventful pregnancy!

Dtao - i am in the same boat as you. i started trying for #2 last winter and eventhough i had frosties leftover i decided to do a fresh cycle for exactly the same reason as you. my age is even worse than your so i wanted to get more eggs as fast as possible. we got the eggs in winter but the fresh cycle produced an ectopic. then we did a FET in the spring with the latest batch of lefltover emrbyos and it was still a negative. now i am just finishing up a 2ww wait on my last FET that used the lembryos of the first fresh IVF and i am still waiting on the outcome. the HPTs are coming in weird - faintly positive but not really growing. so i am worried its a chemical or another ectopic.

anyway - i am totally with you as to how much harder the road for #2 is for me, then #1. #1 - god bless him - we were very lucky to get on 2nd cycle. Now i am finishing up my 5th cycle ( counting all fresh and frozen together) and i am pretty exhausted.
i started out the process for #2 hoping we can have 3 kids. now i will be lucky if i can give my DS a sibling. i realize nwo how hard it is and how lucky we were to get our DS.

oh biy - thank you for listenting guys. its lunch break now and i am off to dollartree to get more HPTs... cant wait for my beta on wednesday - but i am really not very hopeful - the HPTs are so faint and going the wrong direction.

Lyd-- I'm glad that we can be buddies during all this. I have my fingers crossed for your next beta. I know it's really hard to stay positive at times. My husband is definitely better at it than I am, but then again we do bear the brunt of all of this, don't we? Whatever happens, I will always think of the daughter we do have and remember how lucky I am to be a mom.

Dogz-- I do recognize some of the names on this board. I should have kept up with everyone here, but I guess at the time I felt so badly for everyone who didn't get pregnant that I just stopped posting.

Hopefully tomorrow's retrieval goes well, the eggs are of good quality, we get to freeze enough, and I get pregnant this time. It's so unfair that this seems to be a lot to ask huh?

Good luck everyone who is 2wwing, ERing, etc'ing...

As for me, I begin a short (fresh) cycle yet again in a few weeks, after I get my AF. Bought all the meds, bring it on!

I am sorry, dtao. fingers crossed you'll get close to 100% fertilization rate. your signature says your DH sperm is fine - so you should get good fertilization.

AFM - got another faint line this morning on HPT. just taking it one day at a time. beta is tomorrow morning. the doc wont call till 5 or 6 most likely.

LYD- yay, sounds good! I know u have trauma from your ectopic, but chances r slim that lightning struck twice. Keep us posted :).

Only 2 have made it so far. I can't believe this time actually trying to do IVF would yield such disappointing results. The first time we were going for IUI, which was converted to IVF. I got 7 eggs, 5 fertilized, 2 tranfered, 2 frozen. I thought (my doctor did too) that we'd for sure do much better this time around. Especially the way the follicles have been looking all along.

I've been reading about "empty follicle syndrome", and studies are saying that the protocol was bad if the woman is young with normal FSH levels. Something about LH and incorrect trigger. Doctor is telling me not to worry, but I just can't. Anyone else look into this?

Will have a 3 day transfer after all.

dtao - how are you doing? when is your transfer?

i got a positive #1 beta of 66. so i am cautiosuly optimistic. i am experiencing bad cramps now- which is not something i experienced with my first pregnancy so it scared me. i am hoping the bleleding doesnt follow. with my first pregnancy i had SH and bleeding and cramping and was on bedrest for a week during week 5 i believe.

i am going in for my beta #2 tomorrow morning.

Lyd congrats! My betas with my daughter were only 21 and 53.

Transfer is tomorrow at 11. I asked to see if we could get them in today, but was told that's not done. I'm so scared!
