I had menstrual like cramping the day of my beta test. I was positive that my period was starting and that my result would be negative. The cramping stopped after a day or so and I went on to have a very healthy pregnancy.

I had cramping throughout the first trimester. DD is now 2. :) I did have a previa though so I guess that could be something to watch for.

I had cramping and bleeding a couple of hours ago, so I'm glad to see your post. I was convinced I was miscarrying, and pretty much figure I am. The cramping has stopped, but I still have some very light bleeding. Not full on like a period, but more then spotting. :(

I did, but it was late in the day, so he was gone. But my nurse called back to get all the details and tell me how common it is blah blah blah. She said to wait and see how it goes the next few days, but she will tell my doctor in the morning. We'll see if he wants me to do anything beyond waiting. The cramping was over in a couple of hours, and I barely feel it now. The bleeding is kind of like the last day of your period, and it's slowing down quite a bit.

Hi,

I'm affraid I'm going to give you more blah blah blah, but hopefully you'll feel more reassured.
While a miscarriage is still a possibility, (and we'll cross fingers that it is not), I had some spotting and very mild bleeding about 5 days after my beta and I am now 27 weeks pregnant.
I had light bleeding 4 weeks after my first beta in my first pregnancy too and went on to have a full term pregnancy.
The cramping was threre in both cases and it could be just your uterus expanding.
I have also experienced very heavy bleeding and significant cramping during my first pregnancy which lead to me losing one of my twins.
Moral of the story: light spotting and cramping is not unusual at all with IVF. Heavy bleeding with severe cramping is more worriesome. I had read some posts however of women on this board who have had heavy bleeding and did not miscarry.
So just try to relax (easier said than done), think positive and keep us posted.
Good luck!
Nancy

Thank you, Nancy, for your very encouraging post. My doctor was unconcerned, which is reassuring. He did say that if it happens again (because it did stop) to quit the low-dose aspirin and go in for another blood test to check my levels. So for now, we just wait. U/S is still in the 24th. Why can't it be now????

It is somewhat of a relief to have found this thread. I have had mild cramping for a couple of days now. Yesterday, day after my first beta, I took a hpt, and it was negative. My doctor has a stupid policy of not releasing results until the second beta, and I got impatient. Then, after getting the negative, of course, I realized why we're always told NOT to take them. I have been in agony since, convinced that I am not pregnant. Husband convinced me not to take another one. I think I won't pit myself through that again. Second beta was today anyway, but since I didnt go until late afternoon, I won't get results until the morning. I am seriously debating whether I want to know the results... If it's bad I might just break down and be unable to teach at all... I am so scared my stomach is tied up in knots and my heartbeat is keeping me from sleeping. I wonder if the cramping could be from being nervous too...

hi dtao - how have you been!!! so you are finding out the results tomorrow? i am keeping my fingers crossed! i've been thinking of you. you told me your first beta with your daughter was like 30, right? that's my story too now - low first beta but good rise - so i am on pins and needles waiting for u/s this friday. for some reason i dont think i will see the fetal pole :(

since your first beta with your daughter was low - the hpt probably didnt pick up this beta either.

good luck tomorrow!!!!!!
