BlissfulCS wrote:Hey Mama's,

I need some advice. Since Friday night I have had persistent, mostly dull pain in my left abdominal area. It's not cramping or throbbing, just persistent light pain. It happens to be exactly where the baby is. It is mostly mild but at 5:30 this morning it was strong enough to wake me up. It seems to be worse in the evenings and at night.

I feel silly calling the doctor if it is just the normal aches and pains of pregnancy. Especially since I have my anatomy scan a week from tomorrow. However it does not feel like ligament pain, it's too consistent for that I think. It does just seem natural though that I might be a little uncomfortable in the area where the baby is.

Is this normal and just part of pregnancy as you get bigger? I'm 19 weeks but would guess I am measuring a little ahead.

Thanks in advance for your advice!
Bliss, it is hard to say by your description, but IMO anything strong enough to wake you up is worth of a checkin with your doc. Let up know, hope all is well. I can't believe you are 19 weeks! So, exciting!

Thanks SD! I did call and he said he thinks it is just the normal aches and pains of pregnancy. Since then the pain has subsided. Of course that would be the case... :-) If I hadn't called it would still be hurting and I would still be torturing myself trying to decide whether or not I should call...

Quick post:

SD and Lou - Your nurseries are so SO cute!!! I'm so jealous. I can't do much to the walls in our baby's room because it's an apartment, but dangit, when we buy a house, I'm going all out!

KJM - I'm anxiously looking forward to seeing Hunter's and Ella's pics!! :)

Bliss - so glad to hear everything is fine! :)

AFM - Picked out a doula today!! She's great and we share a lot of the same views, so I'm pretty happy with my decision to hire her. Also went to my first Bradley Method class yesterday, which was great.. a lot more informative than the prepared childbirth class I attended at the hospital. It's an expensive class ($225), but I think it'll be worth it. Have 7 more Saturdays of that class. I may or may not be able to complete the series, but it's okay; at least I'll get core of the information. STILL have to finish putting together our nursery. I mean, the crib, dresser, and the chair are all put together and stuff, but we need to start setting other things up, too. My DH is so lax about it as if it'll still take her a couple months to arrive. I don't think he's being realistic enough. I need to get on his behind to help me finish ordering the last of the baby things and finish off her nursery. Is it too early to be washing all her clothes to hang up? I don't want it to catch dust unnecessarily.

Lou I LOVE the nursery too, well done especially the pink trim chair railing. Wondering if you considered painting the window trim in cream to flow even better with the room? Maybe take some masking tape to create a straight line, but not sure how the window frame is done if the glass might be in the way to do this? Overall this room looks perfect for your princess. :D

hope- I'm sure your nursery will be ready and just perfect. BTW, we have decals on the wall that are fantastic. They're really easy to peel off so that would work for an apartment if you want. I can totally relate about wanting your husband to step up the speed regarding getting things done. Unfortunately it doesn't seem that the nesting gene is on the Y chromosome!

Bliss-- so glad you are feeling better! not to get too personal, but constipation which is common in pregnancy too often shows up with left sided discomfort....

SD- I don't think anything is too personal on these boards. ;-) The Doc mentioned that too and while things have been a little better for the last 4 or 5 days, that has been a big problem for me. Probably all of the above is causing the pain. :-) Thanks for the advice. Its great having you on here.

KJM huge congratulations on the birth of Ella and Hunter I am so happy for you and ha I called it you really were next :D

Margi you look amazing honey and I am so glad to hear you are doing well

Lou you also look great!!! I love the nursery

Rio I am so sorry the scar is still bothering you I can't believe it is still hurting! I really hope your doc can think of some way to make it heal faster you poor thing :( I can only imagine what you are going through. My scar hurt pretty bad for 3 weeks and my mood was just terrible so my heart goes out to you. On a happy note I am so glad Lizzy is doing great

Sonya I am so happy hearing from you. I can also relate. After Leora's terrible loss I literally cried for a long time and DH started urging me to stay off the boards for fear that it was too upsetting. I am so glad she is starting up again and will be there to cheer her on. On another note I am also having to give baby Paul a couple of formula feedings because my milk supply is good but not enough for him. He already eats 3oz every 2-3 hours and I only make 18oz of breastmilk a day so need a bit of help with formula. My Pediatrician seems to think its completely ok

baby blue your boys are adorable and so big already

I am 28 weeks today! Yea, I made my first goal. I am to continue on bedrest for the rest of the pregnancy. However, I am okay with that. I need all the rest I can get right now, I am sooo tired most of the time. I am just so happy to be this far a long, I feel very good about how things are working out. I no longer have to go back to the high risk Dr, and baby looks great.

Lou/Blair/SD Gorgeous nurseries! Everything seems so put together I love it! Our LOs are going to share the second master while they are young so it is now a toddler's room more than anything, I don't think I am brave enough to post pics! Lou love the touch of pup on the crib!

Mamaboo - congrats on the big milestone

Annas congrats on one month old Paul goes by fast doesn't it? hope you are doing well too!

Bliss - I had some weird lower pain and he said it was stretching too, never had it with #1 you end feeling all kinds of weird things and it is good to check with OB!

Hope - google vinyl wall art, there are tons of cute things! Glad you found your doula! And yes start washing and in my opinion piles of clothes on shelves work better since you will be in a daze and busy and with no time to hang ;)

SD crack the whip on that DH of yours ;) I think the part on sleeping through baby crying is on the Y chromossome!!!!

KJM at the point you are every drop is a celebration, don't get down by qty it is about quality, are you saving the precious drops and giving them to the babes? I had Lizzy in NICU for a short time and had to think hard and massage a lot to get milk to come in and it did, it took longer with DS even when he was with me but once it comes, it comes strong, so good luck and hope your babes are healthy and can go home soon!

AFM I need to vent big time. 3 years ago and 2 months after having DS I had my gallbladder get infected and removed by a general surgeon. Out of the 5 small incisions (laparoscopic), 2 did not heal very well and my body "spit out" the internal stitches and left me with a bigger scar than it should be, the doctor then told me to note any other surgeries and tell the doc that I reject stitches. I ended up with a big keloid of a csec scar for 1st csec that hurt for 1.5 yrs and now I am convinced it was because my body made a mess inside of the stitches (my dermatologist confirmed the possibility). So a couple of weeks before my csec I brought this up to my OB that my body spits out and rejects internal stitches, he quickly dismissed me and he said "that's not a concern" I love my OB and he is great about everything else and very caring so when he said that I totally trusted him. Well hot dog! Along about 2 inches of my scar I now have stitches coming up, either poking hard white stitches or the whole loops!!! No wonder it hasn't healed for 6 weeks, my body is trying to get rid of my internal stitches. So now I am very upset and crying and frustrated thinking if he had at least heard me we could have dealt with this sooner instead of telling me no way it would happen. Or 6 weeks of hearing "this is normal" when it is not! Or I would have felt like at least we tried and oh well it happened anyway. I don't want these two inches to turn into another nightmare for me for 1.5 years especially since this is my last csec (he had to remove the whole first scar with the keloid this time around). Also I could have addressed this much sooner since I had no idea this is what was going on... I am pissed and frustrated and upset. I will call my OB tomorow and see what he says but not sure how much we can do at this pt, my dermatologist said if needed she could do a cortisone shot on the scar to prevent a keloid. I am not even prone to keloids :( ARGH
