Hi girls! I have very early gestational diabetes, I have been on a diabetes diet for 20 days now. Not only did I not gain anything in my first trimester but I lost 2 lbs. I also had OHSS so I could have lost more since it was hard to gauge my real weight with all that fluid.
My OB does not seem concern and said baby is measuring fine and I will lose weight while the baby will gain weight if I eat right. My nutricionist and endocrinologist say it is bad to lose weight.
I am on insulin and have high fasting numbers, I feel like I am hungry druing the day even though I snack.
I had this with our son but at a later time, I ended up gaining 21 lbs with him.
Any insight is appreciated! Thanks!

i was insulin controlled w gest diabetes as well although i didnt require alot or any sometimes i lost 18lbs my ob told me it was perfectly fine and women who arre a little over weight can lose weight and be fine i delivered a 6lbs 13 oz healthy baby girl. truthfully if u control ur sugars and are over weight obviously idk if u are but u prob would lose weight i wouldnt worry baby is growing fine and the right diet will continue that to happen
Rio- I don't have GD but I do have PCOS and I am on metformin which is frequently used to treat diabetes. I was on the heavier side to begin with. I immediately dropped 7lbs during the 1st trimester. I never gained it back. I stayed the same weight and baby kept gaining and growing just fine. I stayed on metformin throughout my pregnancy and as of last check up they say baby girl is 8lb9oz. I am still 2lbs under my start weight. I feel better and look healthier. As long as baby grows, and you are healthy you two will be just fine! Big hugs momma. You are doing great.

I had GD with my son, however, we didn't find out until 24 weeks. I think I had it at least 6 weeks earlier than I was tested for it. I had trouble controlling it with diet, so they switched me. I didn't gain much weight until my 3rd trimester. I think 5-7 lbs the first 2. My aunt actually lost about 43 lbs during her first two trimesters. (It was terrible ms for the whole time.) Her baby was born at 34 weeks and weighed over 6 lbs. You need to follow your diet as prescribed and listen to OB. If baby is growing fine, don't worry about what others say.

I had GD with my 1st DD (discovered at 16wks) and didnt gain any weight (was actually loosing) up until 28wks and gain 10lbs until 40weeks my dd was 7lbs. I have it with this one to and i gained about 10lbs so far. One way to tell if your eating enough is to check ketones, mine were sometimes + but my endo wasnt concered since it wasnt everyday and it wasnt a high level, my DD is fine
Are you pregnant or going through IF treatments? I ask because, the tests used to diagnosis gestational diabetes are a little different than outside of pregnancy.
Regardless the tests are pretty easy, you can go to most any clinic and ask to be tested. Fatigue, thirst, and athlete's foot are plenty common symptoms for people without diabetes too, so I'd suggest you get tested before assuming that you have diabetes and getting to worried without cause at this point.
Most people who present symptomatic with diabetes feel much better after starting treatment, there are a some cases of advanced disease where symptoms of tingling do not resolve with treatment but many do.
