Hey ladies

Thanks for all the good wishes. Not such great news today. Saw the little heartbeats but baby measuring smaller than should be for this stage. Only 3.9cms and apparently should be 6.5-7. So another scan to be arranged for next week. She said miscarriage is higher risk now but there is hope. Anyone ever hear about this size of embryo making it?

Ninde - I am keeping you in my thoughts! i am hoping the baby will catch up!! You saw the heartbeat and that's a realy good sign! how many weeks are you now - 7weeks? did the doctor tell you this or the US technician. sometimes these Ultrasound technicians dont know what they are talking about. 6.5cm sounds really big for 7 weeks.
i am sending growing vibes in your direction. please dont worry just yet!

take a look at this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prenatal_development - it tells you the range of size for each stage. i would double check with her on what she meant.

Lyd10: the lady was certainly not a doctor or a nurse so she must have been a technician. She wants me to see my on next week but I think that's just because the clinic are fertility and I suppose they did their job. Do you really think that even though the little one is small we might be ok?

To everyone else thank you. I guess its a waiting game. Its amazing how young I feel since we got the news and how I wish my mum was around.

Ninde - i defnitely think you should not worry and speak to the doctor. in our clinic the technicians are not even allowed to give their opinions about anything they see on screen. because they dont know what they are talking about - she might have not read your chart correctly and erroneously thought you were further along then you actually were. who the heck knows! if you are worried then talk to your doc. but dont take technician's word to heart. like i said in our clinics they are not allowed to say anything about what they see on screen.

You might not know me. I have been visiting the IVF and PAT boards almost everyday but only posted several times on PAT board.
I just want to let you know that at 6w3d my baby girl only measured 6w0d and I prepared myself for the worst. In the following ultrasound appointments she was always 3 days behind until 9 weeks. At that point she caught up and measured right on target. I am now almost 25 weeks and she is very healthy. So don't lose hope.

LYD is right; don't buy into what the technician says. I'm not sure about the size in cm, but my baby has measured 4 days behind since the very beginning. Even on week 32 US, she was measuring 3 days behind and was in 25th percentile. I'm at 36 weeks now and the baby is doing just fine; she's just a little on the petite side, but no big deal. I'll just have an "easier" time pushing her out. Since I'm going au natural, every bit helps Good luck though!

Ninde- I'm confused...the CRL (crown to rump length), which is the measure of the embryo, was 7.5mm when I went for my u/s on Tuesday & that was right on target for 6w5d. Your measurement is in cm!!! Mine is way smaller! The only thing I see on my u/s picture is CNO 8cm. I don't know what CNO means. I think you'll be allright. I will be saying lots of prayers for you! When do you go back?

Wow I know you must have had every single emotion run through you this week. The lab scare was just that, but we know only the RE can tell you what's really going on and I pray this next visit is a much better one that you willl get to talk with your RE and he will give you peace of mind. For now, try to give your mind and body some much needed rest and relaxation taking this one day at a time. I will keep this in my prayers too. xoxoxo Christy

Ladies again thank you

Moorebaby I think I've confused things by saying cm. The technician said everyone talks in in in cms but I may have misheard her. Our scan says .399mm which is 3.9mm. What I didnt ask is what age does that measurement equate to so we can know how far behind we are. I'm also not sure if age is determined post day of transfer or retrieval. If its post retrieval then I was 7 wk2 days yesterday but if its calculated post transfer then I was 7 weeks.

Lyd 10: I think the clinic allows the technicians to do it all and perhaps that's fine in usual circumstances it would have been better if doc had been there.
