Hi guys, I haven't been around since Tuesday. I went to work Wednesday and Thursday and it really took it out of me so crashed in bed as soon as I got home. Don't work Fridays so was grateful for the lie in. Last night I was up quite a lot during the night. I am getting cramping/pulling sensations on my left side. Today I was very nauseaus when I was out of bed. Is this normal? I thought I might have had a bit of a growth spurt and it was pulling at my existing scar tissue/endometriosis which caused the discomfort and the morning sickness today. Am I making this up?? If it continues tonight I am going to call the hospital tomorrow even though they have released me they said if I had any problems to let them know. I haven't met my midwife yet else I would speak to her.

Helen, I will be buying my lottery ticket tomorrow. How things would be a little easier with money!! If it comes down to it I would give up work to protect my babies. It would just mean a few less luxuries to live without, but we would make do. Let's hope it won't come to that though.

Gem I am so glad your scan went well. Can't wait to see my babies again. We haven't decided how much time I will take from work yet. I work in IT and if I was to go back I shouldn't wait to long as technology changes to fast. I'd love to take a year though. We plan on me finishing at 22 weeks. 3 weeks annual leave and then maternity leave. Maybe earlier if I don't start getting some energy soon.

Christina, glad to see some of your clothes don't fit you. Neither do mine. I have bought a couple of pairs of drawstring linen pants, just waiting for the nice weather to come back so I can wear them without being cold! I wasn't game enough to buy real maternity clothes like bina. I don't even know of any shops that sell maternity clothes around here!!

Tracey, or any twin mommies have you joined TAMBA and is it worth it. I don't have any family around and I thought it might be a good idea for buying some second hand things. Moses baskets etc as you only use them for 8 weeks or so (I think). Is there a specialist twin shop aruond because there doesn't seem to be much of a range of twin prams etc at mamas and papas. Just geting an idea of whats available. Not buying anything until after 20 weeks.

Hope you al have a great weekend. I am supposed to be going to a bbq tomorrow but it looks like rain. oh well.

Best wishes to you all

Hello lovelies!!!!!!
Well it HAS been quiet - no news is good news though I guess!
Lovely holiday - although was a bit of a wimp about sitting in the sun -just got a bit hot and flustered!
O dear though...............bikinis ladies..............its NOT a good look!! I wouldn't mind if I was far along enough to actually look pregnant - but I just looked like I'd eaten ALL the pies (or Pasta as we were in iTaly!!) :D
And as for my boobs......well thats another story!!
Anyway - was lovely -very rested and sickness appears to have largely gone -(although I did nearly pass out in a restaurant and have to have the waiter help me get up! - I think too hot and hungry) - anyway quite embarassing!

Gem - SO pleased about you scan - wow you are really on your way now - how is everyone taking the news?!
Tracey - hows tricks - you really aren't that far away now are you....are you pleased I reminded you??!!
Bina- oooo maternity clothes can't wait - I'm just in that in between stage where my tops are all comepletely useless and I've been too scared to try any trouser since I got back from holiday -defo put on a few pounds!!
Shellie - when is your next scan?

Can I ask 2 questions
1. is anyone else's pot tummy just under their belly button - I mean I know it is  - but my protruding bit isn't (I dont think) where the baby is its higher up? Is everyone else the same?!
2. Has anyone else got lumpy boobs - I have a hard slightly sore "pea" shaped lump on inner side on one of my boobs - is this normal?

2 VERY dull questions!! Bet you're pleased I'm back arent you!!

I have my scan on Monday -VERY scared - and I have to say ALMOST tempted not to do it. Nuchals seem to be the norm where I am but I belive alot of people don't bother. I dunno - I guess I will - but I can TOTALLY understand why people don't and just get on with it.

Anyway - not other news from me - pleased to see you are all doing so well

Big X

Hello all or should I say bonjour to Bina!

Glad you are all ok and back with the funny questions.....

Shellie - fear not it is stretchy pains from the uterus and you get them around 4 weeks earlier with twins because of two of them - all very normal but never worry alone and always call your midwife even if you have not met her! Yes joined TAMBA but found ebay to be a godsend - just ask me about shopping. I got loads of stuff off there as so much more required with twins. I am lucky I live near Kiddicare but look at their site - kiddicare.com that is loads of money saved. There is also twinsclub.co.uk too. Take it easy you will be more tired with twins.
Caz - glad to see you back - the stage you lot are at was awful as don't really look pg just like you have eaten all the pies  yes will be under the belly button but rapidly starts moving up and once it does - no stopping it! I have a bump under my chin
HAve a scan thursday so will let you know but cases are packed - yikes!
You will be worried about the nuchal - of course - it is only natural. Deep breathes and chances are very strong in your favour to be fine and think of the relief after.........
Happy weekend all of you - Gem you ok?
Love

Hi everyone,

Glad to see that everyone is doing so well. Things are fine here too. Got my first appointment to meet the midwife on 22nd July & am very excited. Had to go to the docs as I got a rash all round breast area, she said it was my raging hormones & I got cream to sort that out. As if my boobs are not sore enough now they are killing with itch!

Thanks for the advice re: drinking more has done the trick for the headaches.
Shellie just to tell you I got my due date for 7th Feb, day after you, we could be going through it all together again, well just like everyone else due in Feb. but we had ET & Ec on the same day. Also I get the dragging pains lying down its just everything stretching now. Also the the little blob just under my belly button, even at this early stage can definately see growth which is wonderful.

I too have been buying elasticated trousers as they are more comfortable & can't wait to grow some more :) :)

Well I hope all you mums to be have a great weekend :D

Take Care

Shellie,

Personally I wouldn't join TAMBA - I didn't join until my two were 1 because you get a discount on shoes at Clarks which is useful once you have 2 walking babies (I know you can't even contemplate that now!). I haven't got a lot else from joining. As Tracey says, Ebay is good for stuff and twinsclub.co.uk has a free 'buy and sell' board which is worth looking at.

help................nuchal scan tomorrow....and you guessed it, its just now sinking in and am SOOOOO scared they will find something awful.
I know I should know this but what exactly are they checking for (I know Downs Syndrome) but are there any other scareys I should brace myself for.
We had a scan just before 11 weeks and everything looked okay -although I don't think it was a detailed scan - but there was a heartbeat, arms/ legs etc. Am also having a blood test done tomorrow too (triple test one I think) -whats that about? More double checking for downs syndrome?

I don't know if anyone else feels the same - but the whole thing just wont sink in - I just can't BELIEVE that I'd be lucky enough to firstly be pregnant and then have a normal healthy baby. I just can't believe we could be that lucky. I know it sounds daft. But I just keep expecting the worst.

I guess I'd just like some expert advice on what to expect!!

Thanks lovelies :-)

CAz

Sorry missed you and by the time you get this should all be over and fine!
Triple or double blood tests were and still are the norm in some places for checking downs but more specifically chromosomal problems not just downs - there are other syndromes. The nuchal is the easiest way to get the accurate and quickest idea of risk for downs and other chromosomal problems. Both that and the bloods will give them an extremely good idea which they will get anyway from your nuchal straight away.
Of course you are nervous - post with news when you get back

hello
well - scan all fine - pppppppppppppphhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww
-I think they said typical risk for my age is 1 in 500 and they say after the test its one in 5000. So I'll take those odds!
quite a big day as told a few more people (only told my mum and sister before) - very chuffed
thanks for all you advice!

Caz

Don't get much better than that so you can breathe again - I know I felt much better after the nuchal result for me went from 1 in 140 for 1 in 1250 - yours is fabulous.

Was it good telling people at long last? I suspect so :D
Well done and another hurdle cleared
