Crown Rump Length: Gestational age = 6 weeks plus (CRL x days). This relies on the growth of the normal fetus of 1 mm per day after the 6th week of gestation. For example, a CRL of 16 mm would correspond to a gestational age of 8 weeks and two days (6 weeks plus 16 days = 8 weeks and 2 days).

So a CRL of ~4mm means 6w4d. A heartbeat at this point is great. If you are 7 weeks, that is only 3 days behind, which is not fantastic but not awful.

Are you sure you are calculating your weeks correctly? The day of the retrieval is "2 weeks" pregnant. This website is great for calculating IVF due dates http://ivf.ca/duedate.php

Just to share my story -- with my miscarriage, everything measured great at 6w2d - but at 7w2d, the baby hadn't grown and the heartbeat had slowed down. At 8w2d, the heartbeat had stopped and the baby still measured 6w2d.

With my boys, I had a major bleeding scare at 6w2d (gushing and gushing blood - I was sure we had lost them and was worried about bleeding to death!). I had 3 u/s in 4 days -- and I was really nervous when they didn't appear to grow appropriately (1mm a day is normal growth). But things were FINE. Sometimes techs don't get the best measurements.

So bottom-line -- I won't lie - it's not fantastic news if the baby is measuring small -- but it's not necessarily bad news. Maybe the baby was in a weird angle and the tech didn't get a great measurement. Maybe the baby is really a few days behind, but fine. Maybe you are a little off with your dates.

Try to relax and focus on the little baby growing inside you. Waiting is sooooo hard. I'm sorry.

Leora: Thank you so much. I spoke to the clinic this morning and they reckoned that I was showing just under 6 weeks at the 3.9mm which surprised me. Now she also said that implantation may have been a bit later and if thats the case the days may be slightly out. They have put the scan off until Monday 3rd with the person who will actually be my OB. I again was a bit surprised because I thought it would be a week but he has a fantastic reputation so I'll go with that. He said that he is happy for me to fly next weekend unless I spot but I'm just not sure about that. Thank you for your honesty and also the information as it helps so much to have more knowledge.

I also really appreciate your sharing your story, that was very kind and generous of you.

Moorebaby I think I've confused things by saying cm. The technician said everyone talks in in in cms but I may have misheard her. Our scan says .399mm which is 3.9mm. What I didnt ask is what age does that measurement equate to so we can know how far behind we are. I'm also not sure if age is determined post day of transfer or retrieval. If its post retrieval then I was 7 wk2 days yesterday but if its calculated post transfer then I was 7 weeks.


I had horrible dreams but your posts have really given me hope. Thank you.

Ok, I'm still confused. Is it .399mm or 3.9mm?

My RE actually told me that fertilization occurs the day after retrieval. So, you would count 38 weeks from the day after the retrieval. I always thought it was 38 weeks from the actual retrieval. So, my EDD was adjusted from May 9th to May 10th. Based on this I'm 7w1d today. My retrieval was on Wednesday, August 22nd, making the 23rd the actual day of fertilization. So your ER was a day before mine, so that makes you 1 day ahead of me, 7w2d.

I've decided not to fly. I havnt broken the bad news to the training college yet and I know they will be unhappy but I'm hoping they might consider me delivering it via skype. Its not ideal but I'm trying!!

The 17th was a Wednesday. Today is a Friday. So that means you're 7w2d. This past Wednesday would have made you 7w.

I'm relieved to hear that you cancelled your flight. We sometimes cannot tell if flying is safe but at the same time we have to do what is best to protect our baby. I used to blame my flight to Chicago is what caused my last miscarriage because I remember the abrupt landing and my own heart racing, only one week later to find no heartbeat in my own baby. I cannot dwell on the past but we can learn to play it safe when we can. Take Care of you (and that little one too). Christy

Ninde-nice to hear from you. How are you feeling? When is your next u/s. I am praying that your little been continues to grow strong and that you can bring home a happy and healthy baby. Please know that you are in my prayers always.

AFM, thank you for asking. I am getting very close to my FET and posted this on the Fall Board today.

The nurse just called me. The lab work showed that I am non-ovulatory and my E2 level is great 689. For FET's they like to see an E2 level in the 200+ range so my level is really good. My lining was 8.6 and they like to see the lining above 7.0, they nurse said they would be weary to proceed with a lining below 7 so my lining is good to proceed. She said that with the continued Estrogen patches and the addition of the PIO injections my lining will continue to thicken prior to FET date. Now to the issue of the dates. The nurse said that something got a little screwy with my calendar. With that said, I am good to begin PIO tonight. The question is going to be if we absolutely want to transfer the 6 day higher quality embryos then we will have to have the FET on Saturday 10-1 and it will be a different RE that would do the transfer. If we are ok with transferring the 5 day slightly lower quality embryos then we would keep our date on 9-30 and my RE would do the transfer. DH and I discussed it and we will keep our FET date of 9-30 and transfer the last 5 day embryos we have left. The othe two sets we will have left after this FET will be two sets of day 6 embryos. The lab had advised us and my RE that it's a wash because they have statistics that show that they have a slightly lower success rate with day 6 embryos. So slightly lower sucess rates with day six embryos but higher quality or slightly higher success rates but slightly lower quality with the day 5 embryos.

So we are set. FET will happen on Friday, September 30th with my RE and DH is going to go in with me this time. We will transfer 2 5day embryos, one is a 3BB and one is a 3BC. Last time I got pregnant with 2 day day grade 3BB embryos but the pregnancy ended up with a MC. Praying for a good healthy pregnancy which will let me bring home a baby this time. I will be taking it easy from transfer day on Friday and not planning on going back to work until Tuesday. My dear friends, please say a prayer for us. I'm a little bumbed about the sudden change in plans. DH is hopeful and is trying to get me yo understand that nothing has changed. He feels confident with the 5 day embryo transfer because of the slightly higher success rates. I'm trying to look at it that way but I was already looking forward to having the other two embryos transferred. I need to trust in God that he knows why he has made this change in our journey. I haven't talked about the patch yet I know a doctor who said the other day I think I had to change the schedule Friday so today I called and we go over it in detail (the calendar was so confused). Good luck with the job and what you decide! And if you think that the part-time job to focus on chicken I have a family and is the best. We all know what is best for us so go ahead.

hiya ladies ive been stalkin for a while,after a summer of working 14-16hour days im ready for a little break then straight back on this roller-coaster of ivf......this will be our 3rd time of trying with icsi its my hubby with the prob im afraid, but before we start we've got to go for chrome-zone blood tests can any one shed any light on this please?and also ive found out i have a small fiborid so they want to put a small camera inside to check everything i cant remember the name of this though?so anyone know if you have fiborids it can stop you gettin pregant even with ivf/icsi?because im in major panic now.....thanks ladies!!!!
