Sunshine- that is awesome news on your thyroid #'s!!!! I hope mine is down there when I test. What did your number start out with and how long have you been on the meds and what dosage? I'm really nervous because I had a conversation with my nurse yesterday and she recommended me get tested now for my thyroid #'s to see where I am at. So I started out at 5.163 back on 8/30 and starting 9/4(??) started on 25 mcg's and then 9/21 started on 50 mcg's...... not sure on my med name, I know I started with the same one as you, then my new endocrinologist put me on some name brand one...starts with a T? Once I get my lazy butt up (and I am working, I just work from home), then I'll go look and tell you the name of the med.

I went for my baseline u/s and bw this morning. Everything looks great and we got the green light for our embryo donor cycle. One step closer....I started my estrace today. I take 6mg daily becasue my lining is always on the thinner side. I will decrease my lupron tonight and have a lining check next friday the 21st. Transfer is schedule for Nov 2nd! This is it! I can feel it!

anton- I am so sorry that things are at a stand still right now. I think it is just hard on him.. I know that men are so funny when it comes to their emotions. I bet he is hurting inside and just wants to protect himself. I know that it makes it no easier on you. I pray that he will come around and at least give the natural ivf a try. I am sorry and its awesome that you are standing by him and not fighting him on his decision. It may take time but I hope he comes around and gives you the chance... Sorry...

AFM- Sorry if I forgot anyone. I have two boxer dogs (furbabies)... It has been raining so I decided I Would keep them inside.. I let them out and catch them digging in the mud... Amazing what they did in 10 minutes. I get them bring the to the front to wash them off-cold water and drizzling... (we have our house on the market to sell so cant afford stained carpets).. Two dogs to wash, big pumpkin rolls down the drive way, downstairs smells like wet dog... How fun fun... I love my dogs but I was really unhappy with them... So... They do keep me inshape... Was not too happy with them but I know that they love me and they dont mean too... I am just waiting for the next step. I look forward to taking the pills to make the lining ready... Uh nov 3rd cant get here quick enough... Hope you all have a great day!

I'm going for some blood work soon. I need my Thyroid check, get back on Met (I'm sure most RE's want you on this and I stopped taking them LONG ago) and something for anxiety that is safe when TTC.

What else should I get checked that will be needed for IVF? Figured I could get that done so I can work on what needs to be fixed so I'm not prolonged later.

I noticed many go on BC before beginning IVF, is that something I should wait on for my RE to put me on them? I've only used BC once and it made me bleed for 3 weeks straight. Forgot the name but I'd remember if they are offered again! The other times I was giving something to start AF when doing IUI's and Clomid. BC was just given to me the first time I saw an RE.

Gina - your re should check you for everything that needs to be checked and then out you on BCPs if need be. What's Met?

Lauren- Thanks. Sorry Metformin. Well it will be a good bit before I move on to an RE (well they may send me to one off base in here in Germany first) but we want to fly to Maryland for our IVF. Just trying to get everything close to where it needs to be. Been a couple years since I'v gone in for blood work.

Wehavehope- Here is an UPDATE...AF came! Went to the Dr this morning at 7:30am for my lab tests and sonogram to check my follicles to see if im A-okay to start stims tomorrow night.

Got a call this afternoon from the nurse saying that labs all came back great and all levels are low. Only thing they saw on my sonogram was a good medium sized cyst on my right ovary. All my follicles look small and good to go though. I have been having pain on my right side in my lower abdomen for a week or so and well...that cyst explains it! =)

Nurse said that it shouldnt interfear with the IVF process. Hopefully the cyst will continue to shrink since I just started my AF today but the cyst could also possibly grow with all the hormones from the shots. They will just have to keep an eye on it and know that the cyst does not contain any eggs and is not a follice once they go in and do more sonograms the next week or so.

Otherwise, I start stims tomorrow. I will be starting Gonal-F 225 units for 4 days and then may introduce other shots if needed for extra stimulation, which would be Menopur.

Im nervous but excited to get through this part of the IVF. =)

I had a question for you also...When you had your OHSS, can you tell me a bit about that expierence. For example, how early did they catch it, what meds you were on, symptoms you had, what they did to reverse it, etc. Just curious. =)

Hello everyone.

The meds are hitting me already. Have been very weepy lately. I started a new job last week and it is starting to become stressful. It is with the same company (got a promotion) and I'm starting to wish I had kept my other job which was stress free. Maybe it's just the Estrace, but my feelings are so easily bruised these days.

I just needed a hug from someone who would understand.

Samantha-good to hear from you. I am so happy to hear that you were given the ok to start stim meds. With regards to you question, my RE had mentioned the potential for OHSS due to my diagnosis of PCOS. It put me at slightly higher risk. Other than the bloating I realy did not have any other symptoms of OHSS prior to retrieval. My RE, however picked up on it right away and called me about 2 weeks prior to retrieval and said that he was reducing my meds becuase my E2 Levels were quite high. So we did that, however it only helped a little. So finally, he called me and said that he was going to change my trigger shot from Hcg to Lupron and that he was going to monitor the situation but truthfully he did not feel comfertable with transfering any of my embies back righ away because my E2 Levels were still quite high. He said "Im jsut reading the tea leaves". He said he had seen this before many times and that if we went through with the transfer and I got preganant the sysmptoms would be much worse and I would end up in the hospital. I few days before transfer I literraly felt like my ovaries were going to pop out of my abdomen. The sonogram tech said that my ovaries were literally the size of small grapefruits. On the day of transfer, the RE on staff that day ended up retrieving 26 follicals, 19 of which were mature follicals, and all 19 fertalized, and 10 were good enough to freeze. I can tell you that I was very unhappy and disappointed with not being able to transfer any fresh embies but in looking back and am happy that my RE made the decision that he did and that he monitored me as closely as he did. After the retrieval I was in fact quite sick for about 1 1/2 weeks. I gained almost 10 pounds of fluid but my RE managed to control the situation and keep me out of the hospital. I can tell you that we are all much stronger than we think we are. I was so miserable the week and a half after the retrieval. I look back now and I say to myself, "how in the world did you make it through that"? Well I did and we all do what we have to do to make this dream of ours come true. With God's help we can all endure much more than we think we are capable of enduring. I hope the information helped. let me know if you have any more questions.

I remember some of ya'll from my last IVF round. It sounds like there is a lot of great support here and I would love to join all.
A little bit about me: I did my first round of IVF in Serbia and was blessed with my baby girl, Lejla on 6-28-10. Now Im preparing for FET around Christmas. So, let the frustration begin! My RE here (who did all the "before" work for my IVF) wont do anything with me until I have 3 natural AF's. I stopped BFing on Sep 12 and still no AF I don't know what to do, I already spent $2500 on tix to Serbia. Can I get an AF dance up in here?!?!?
