Does Vitamin D / D3 cause births defects in early pregnancy?

Post by Julia »

Hello everyone,
my name is Julia, we've been trying to conceive 4 years, lately i went through my 3rd ivf and im now 6 weeks pregnant.
my RE described me vitamin D3 10000 IU once per day from the last stimulation day and now that im 6 weeks pregnant im still taking it. but i had some concerns since i didnt see ladies who took vitamin D during their early pregnancy and im now afraid that maybe it is harming my fetus... :(
does anyone has any idea if Vitamin D / D3 causes births defects in early pregnancy??
and does anyone took vitamin D in early pregnancy ??
any feedback will be totally appreciated, thanks.

I dont think vit d does any harm and I think most ob's and RE want there pt's on this even if they dont have fertility issues I think in all the things we have to worry about I would put this near the bottom. :) and, i am taking vit d as well and i had my second IVF transfer done on saturday.

I took Vit D supplements throughout this pregnancy. My OB new this at my 8 week appointment and didn't say anything against it. I was also tested for Vit D deficiency at 12 weeks. You need sufficient Vit D to help promote calcium absorption.

Vit d is safe. It is very important for the baby. My neurologist stressed that to mr.

maybe you could lower the dosage. 2000iu should be sufficient.
