Bodie and Jenmink- Thank you for thoughts and prayers for my Grandmother. Hopefully she'll get the extra help she needs there and does better. She just needs to join in with every one. No being able to gain weight is what will make her go down quick. They will give her therapy to help keep her moving around. She so thin she's gotten so weak. If things get worse though, my son and I will hop a space a flight back for $7. Military cargo plane.....fun fun! lol. Not sure if hubby can go but he'll try. Flying like that makes it hard when they aren't with us, puts us almost last in line to get on.

Jenmink- Not in a cycle yet, just waiting to save up more money. Just offering my support here and getting lots of useful information for when I do begin. Hopefully around summer time next year. It's hard waiting but nothing I can do. :)

Amanda- 4, that's awesome! Imagine if they all split though! :) How many to transfer is something we've often thought about. Even though we get 6 fresh cycles with the shared risk, I don't think we'll still go with 2 at the least. Depending on good they are, then maybe more. I just need LOTS of them! Frozen cycles won't count towards our tries.

Ninde - my skype (well.... my husband's) is elman1o1 (that's a "o", not a zero) -- I'm never logged on unless I have a date set up! We are 7 hours ahead of EST (if you are in Ireland - and I assume you're on the same time as the UK - we are 2 hours ahead of you. We are 1 hour ahead of Europe -- is that clear? :D ) -- no worries about "ignoring" my post -- sometimes we write at the same time! The red tape here in Israel is also ridiculous. I'm worried about not getting approved becuase I deal with depression. I've been stable on meds for YEARS and both of my therapists will testify to that, as will my psychiatrist. I hope that's enough!

Neffi - ugh. Pregnancy stuff at work sucks. Someone at my office is pregnant with twins. I just started working there, and they don't know anything about my past (when asked if I have kids, I say "no" -- I don't HAVE kids, but I've HAD kids is my justification for that answer). I hope your son feels better! How annoying that the u/s tech wasn't sure and you have to go back! I know u/s measurements are never exact, but that's a huge difference!

Amanda - CONGRATS! I really hope this is your time! Will you be POAS? Looks like those are 3-day embryos (right? I'm not so good at telling from the pics)

Julia - how sweet that DH comes to every appt! With our first IVF, I would probably have wanted mine to come, but he was in basic training (mandatory army service here) and couldn't. Once I was an "old - pro" I realized that for the regular SnS (!) visits, I didn't need him there. Actually, of our 6 transfers, he's only made it to 3! --- congrats on triggering!

Lauren - the hormones and the stress make us all nuts :D I'm so sorry about your husbands job. Can he start looking for a new one now? What does he do? Are there jobs in your area?

Gina - so sorry about your grandma.

kerpupples - well, I'm hoping that this frostie doesn't become a playmate for my boys.... since they have passed. I want a baby to bring home and who lives longer than I do! --- it must be stressful to know not which part of the study you are doing and whether you'll be doing a fresh or a PGD-FET -- which do you want to do?

Bodie - at 6w2d you should be able to see hb (on the u/s screen, probably not HEAR them yet) - but don't freak out if you don't! I'm so excited for you!

Maria - hang in there....

Becca - I hope all goes well tomorrow. I know what you mean about wanting a certain nurse. I love all the nurses and the regular phlebotomist and u/s tech --- I hate when someone is on vacation and I have someone else!

Christy - yay for IUI on Saturday! When do you start POAS? :) Image

how have you never done shots? I thought you did a IVF? Did you always have someone else do it? It's really not that bad!

Jen -- ooooooh.... how shiny! I love the blinkies! :D HURRAY for such wonderful embryos! You did PGD last time, but not this time? Testing for something specific, or just for 'normal'? I'm excited for your transfer on Saturday!

blue-eyed - amazing how bare butts lose their sexiness -- I know a lot of husbands who would love to be woken up by their wife's bare bum -- but we had to do PIO and DH injected me.... the bare bum lost the sexy-appeal really fast! :D

AFM - AF is here! 2 days early.... and now I'm stuck. I am supposed to go to the clinic on CD1 for a baseline SnS, and then start my Estrofem tablets, 3x/day. But my clinic is closed Friday AND Saturday. I don't know what's worse --- to start the pills without the baseline, or to wait until CD3 to start..... so after trying to reach someone, ANYONE to ask and failing (even physically going to the clinic to see if anyone was there and just not answering the phone!) - I decided that I will start the pills . I've NEVER had a problem on the baseline SnS, so I'm hoping this'll be okay. I'm too nervous about missing the cycle if I wait until CD3 ---- so I'm now taking 2mg of Estrofem (called Progyna in the USA) three times a day -- first SnS on Sunday!

Hi everyone~

I'm back. I feel like I need to reconnect to the infertility community. I took a few months off after our blighted ovum experience with our first IVF. I have been taking hormones for almost two years (off and on) and I needed to find myself again. I was hoping that it would happen naturally for all of those people that say, "if you stop thinking about it, it will happen" but it didn't. I just did my egg retrieval yesterday and they got 8 eggs.

Leora~
I am so sorry for your loss. (((hugs))). Good luck to you in the new cycle. This IVF stuff is such the roller coaster.

Looking forward to being back.

Hi all. To answer the questions about my DH's job....yes, we will be eligible for unemployment, it is waaaayyyy less than what he's getting while working, and will last for 6 months max. His field is computer programming, he's been managing the department for the past 4 years and has been at the same company for 11 years (where we met). He is already looking for another job and has been. I strongly agree that when one door closes, God opens another one, or potentially a window :P It worries me a little to be going through another round of IVF (with the loan, etc) knowing that right now he won't have a job in a few months, but we decided to move forward despite that. In generally we are very hopeful that he will find something else, although the job market here isn't the best. My son was out of a job for 2 years. We are also looking at some other alternatives, like my DH going back to school to get the degree he never finished (we've been talking about that for a while because I want to go get my Masters, but feel strongly about him having his degree first), and maybe not working, just going to school full time and then being a Mr Mom. We just really aren't sure what the future holds for us and most of the time I'm ok with all of it, but yesterday, for whatever reason I wasn't handling life ok. This morning, so far so good. It's a beautiful crisp morning. The dogs are totally loving the cooler weather - I hope it sticks around! Ever since my stomach surgery I've been cold nature, BUT, I would so rather be cold natured than hot natured. You can only take off so many clothes before the cops are called...hahahaha!

I hope you guys have a fantastic day! :P

LauraN- you do sound better today and I'm glad to hear it. You're so right about the door closing, opening window thing. It always does. I've had it happen too many times personally to think otherwise. Glad you have some options and that you ee them.

Leora- this is a fresh cycle I guess? Well DH had mesa early this month, they got 4 vials and froze them. They are using icsi tomorrow. So idk if that's fresh or what but we have no embys yet. Yay for AF coming! How frustrating is that when u need someone and no one is around!? Do they have an after hours thingy?

Amanda- I'm so happy for you! That's a miracle picture and you guys should be so proud of it!! Thank you for sharing .

Sunshine- you are so heavily in my thoughts. I'm praying that All goes super well, and you will be done with all of the long trips to your RE's soon. At home growing babies! Keep me posted.

Gina- sending prayers up for gmom for u. So hard to go thru something like that.
I'll have to redo this after for more personals, my brain is spinning!
Just got back from nashville, getting one more e2 and my plan for er, et! Oh my gosh. I'm so excited. We go in tomorrow at 1015 for the retrieval and then go in november 3rd for the transfer. I didn't know they would tell us the date for that yet! This is really happening. I can't believe it. I be'll back, hope everyones well. Please also, can anyone tell me if you hurt after retrieval? Enough to need pain killers?

Julia- how exciting!!!! I had a little cramping after the ER, but that is all, nothing major. If you can get pain killers, by all means get them  but for me, not necessary. So, will you be doing PIO starting the night of your ER? and estrogen patches? some folks on here do the progesterone shots (PIO) while others do the suppositories.....my clinic does the shots, period, they don't really give you the option.

Lining was only 5.....waiting for a call from RE. This cycle will be canceled and I have to start over again! UGH! The annoying part is that they dont know why my lining broke down in the middle of the cycle and went from 9.1 to 5.....

Neffi, I'm so sorry to hear this. Is the cycle definitely canceled? Any way it can be salvaged? Argh, that's so frustrating.

LauraN, we are starting PIO tomorrow night at 7. I'm so scared about that damned shot. Been dreading it this whole time. As far as the pain killers go, the dr that started this with us (who we have not seen since but I geuss that's common) had said they'd be giving me percosets for a procedure. I'm assuming its this one. I don't want to seem like a drug head but I'm petrified about getting home and hurting so I think I might demand a scrip to go home with. They didn't warn me that the days after the hydrosonogram I would hurt. Theyre not doing that to me again. They gave DH pain meds after his mesa, I don't see how mine is different. I hope they don't think I'm nuts lol. Actually, I don't care if they think I'm nuts. We have given them claw to 30k out of pocket, no insurance picking it up. They can think whatever!

Julia- totally agreed with who cares if they think you are crazy! I begged for the numbing cream to do all my shots with (yes, even the stomach shots) because I have a BAD needle phobia.....like it was UGLY my first cycle...the very first shot, I put the numbing cream on, and after 4 hours of being unable to give myself the shot and I wouldn't let my husband touch me with a 10 foot poll, I was hysterically crying (the fear of needles is so real to me)- I was nauseous, starting to black out, etc. Anyways, I asked my DH if he would go get our neighbor(she was a nurse- she's moved since then) and she came over and gave me the shots. What was funny, is that I didn't even feel them (thank God for the numbing cream!). so, for the stomach shots, I was totally fine, even let my DH do the rest, but I never could bring myself to do them myself. Then, when it came time for the trigger, I thought I was going to have a coronary! But, again, I put the numbing cream on AND iced my butt down to where they probably could have done surgery on me and I wouldn't have known! Anyways, after 30 minutes of hysterical crying again, I let him shoot me, and BAM, again, felt nothing. So, in saying that, you could ask (like you could call them now if you want) and request the numbing cream script (the non-generic is EMLA cream- mine is the generic) and you use that and ice your butt spot down and you probably won't feel it, or at least it won't be so bad. If you don't want to ask for the script, my suggestion would be to put an ice pack(like those freezer packs) on your butt (sounds funny, but if you put it in your underware it kinda holds it in place) for 10-15 minutes...20 mins really numbs it! I do both..... If you want more info on the EMLA cream, let me know, because unless you read the entire insert or you are a nurse or something, no one tells you how to actually use it- I am a friggin pro! Now this time, my DH may not be around for 5 days worth of shots...just the stomach ones, so my needle phobia is kicking in already, although we don't start those until the 18th of Nov.....so we will see if I can do it or not, or if I will walk around the neighborhood begging anyone to shoot me....hehehehee....Again, you can PM me if you want more info on the cream and/or ice prep for the shots.

Just gave myself a shot of ganirelix, didn't go a well as yesterday, learned it easier standing up- then laying down. Today's appt. showed follicles measuring 26mm and 17mm on the right, with 14 on the left and the rest smaller, lining 8.5. Told me to take another shot after the b/w but stupid me brings in the empty box (I grabbed the wrong one this morning since I had changed purses from work... so when I got home 2.5 hrs later I finally get the voicemail to go ahead and do the shot now. How crazy is this? I explained that yesterday's shot was done around 2pm since the FedEx guy was late delivering the additional meds I really needed. This would make the shot approx. 24 hrs apart, and I've been ovulation testing and so far no surge so I should be ok. Waiting on the phone call from my RE for instructions if tomorrow will be the big day and if this ganirelix will be out of my system by tomorrow morning? The trigger shot should be tonight as we are thinking unless of course it changes again? Just waiting to see. But I need to ask you all if the hcg shot will knock out ganirelix? I mean should I worry that these two shots are only 8 hours apart with the IUI possibiliy being scheduled at 10:30 tomorrow? Ganirelix blocks ovulation while the hcg triggers it, so how effective would the trigger shot be if I did the ganirelix at 2:00 today...Ok I have officially driven myself crazy, just ignore me for now, I will eventually figure this all out! The uncertainities kill me, I'm going to try to make the best out of all this, and let Him be in control...just so hard to let go!
