My daughter drew and colored this picture for Lucas. I put it in a frame I had. She is so sweet and talented.

Kat- love Lucas' room and the picture your daughter made is fantastic! Glad you had a great weekend with your family. Hope your pain stays away.

AFM- I fed Chloe at 10pm then we all went to bed at 10:30. At 7am I woke up and FREAKED thinking something was wrong with Chloe that she didn't wake us. But she was sawing logs and was fine. Holy crap, my 7 week old just slept 8 hrs in a row!

Blair- I'm doing much better now, thanks. Surprisingly I have only one UK outfit so far. I need to get a move on! Hope the girls get to go home soon.

Kat- feeling better now that I'm back at work. The three day weekend gave me too much time to think and obsess. I LOVE the way your sailing theme turned out. Little Lucas is a lucky guy, with a very talented sister.

Lou- yay on a good night's sleep!

tohavefun- jacob certainly is handsome!! wow, to be so cute fromt he get-go, he's gonna be a knock out. Our little ones seem to come out looking like lil' old men :) btw, i had a mean nurse too, some of them are just stuck in the old school ways. I hope BF goes well for you.

lou- I'm insanely jealous chloe slept 8 hrs :) I can barely get my toddler to sleep 8 hrs!!

lou71 wrote:SD, kat, or anyone- what is co-sleeping? Does that literally mean having the baby in your bed at night? If so, how is that safe? I have Chloe in a bassinet in our room and my pediatrician is pushing us to put her in her crib down the hall. I'm not ready for that yet!
Hey lou- Co-sleeping can be defined as having the baby in the bed or in the same room. as far as I know the american academy of pediatrics (AAP) is still against co-sleeping (having the baby in the bed) and feels that it is a safety risk. The AAP however is for having the baby in the room though from what I recall. I think there is data that shows having the baby in their own bassinet or crib actually reduces the SIDS risk up to 6 mths. However the reverse I think is true for having the baby in the bed (increased risk of SIDS, I think). I personally enjoy the benefits of cosleeping (breastfeeding ease and bonding) too much to comply with the AAP guidelines...I'm surprised that your pediatrician is telling you to move chloe though??? I can't think of anything I've heard from any of my pediatrician friends that supports moving the babe out of the parents room so young, I'm sure that she'll be just fine if you chose to move her, but there doesn't seem to be a good reason for recommendation. My non-medical opinion is that babies are best sleeping where ever gives both parties the best sleep!!!

Failed the three hour test... I have GD. :( :( :( Just barely failed though so it looks like we can control with diet.

Bliss: I am sorry you failed. Unfortunately, it can get worse as it goes on and you may end up on meds for it. The worst part though is not being able to eat what you want. That drives me crazy. Hope yours continues to be able to be controlled through diet. It is unfortunately, not uncommon for ladies around our age to have it.

Bliss-- so sorry that you were diagnosed with gestational diabetes, but glad to hear that you'll likely be diet controlled. I'm sure that babe will be just fine and I know you'll take great care of yourself. The GDM diet is probably something all of us should be following anyway, in light of my 9 lb 2 oz baby, I probably should have been more careful myself...

Blissful so sorry you failed. The diet does work though and is not all that bad. I agree with Sd we all should follow it more. It's really cutting out juices, sweets, white carbs and eating more fiber rich carbs. I find that multi-grain pasta taste much better than the whole wheat pasta. Unsalted almonds and cheese's are great snacks. They have lot of sugar free treats if you find it really hard to give up the chocolate. I love the sugar free chocolate pudding :)

Nwhiz-Glad you are doing well. We are almost there. Can not believe it and still in shock sometimes and feel like I'm dreaming.

Lou-Sorry I missed to question about co-sleeping but looks like everyone explained it. I know I did it because I was 17 when I had my son and my ex and I decided to each stay at our own parents house and save our money while he finished college and I finished highschool. I basically had no choice to have Ty's crib in my room and between working myself and finishing up school I was so exhausted some nights that when he woke up for a feeding or just to fus I found it easier to let him come to bed with me.

AFM: Had my weekly stress test and us. Everything looks great. Next week they will do a weight check on him, kind of interested on how much he weighs as 2 weeks ago he was 4lbs. 25 more days to go :)

Oh, by the way, they did a weight estimate on Monday. Denver came out measuring about 9 lbs! That has a deficit of up to 1 1/2 lbs. It was hard to measure him because he is very low. He is in position to be born. Lost my mucus plug yesterday and have had a fair number of contractions today. He may not wait until Monday to be born.

Alright I have not fallen off the face of the Earth! Work and two Los makes it so that mommy has no time!
I always try to read but then typing - ahh to have both hands free - I remember those days!

nwquiz - ahhhh you are so sweet! Thank you so much for your kind words and for making it to 32 weeks!!! Woohoo to you Snow White :)

SDtrying - wow you are a brave girl and congrats on Darius!!!!!!!! How is your DS doing? I am with you on co-sleeping, did you read Dr Sears book on it? Night time parenting?

Blair Congrats on your sweet girls, brings tears to my eyes that you now have your babies. I felt so bad when we were both on the same boat a year ago or so and you got bad news, now I can relax since you have your wonderful LOs :) I am so happy for you and DH!

Sweetpea - oh the drawing is so sweet! How are you feeling?

Mamaboo - good luck with Denver!!!!! We will need pics!

Bliss - pm me if you want, I am the GD queen! :) Had it with both babes and got my diet and all dialed in, had to do insulin but really it is a pain but no big deal, both of my babes were healthy as can be so feel free to ask me anything, I posted a while ago something on gestational diabetes and my diet and tips, do a search here on the pregnant forum and you will find it! Sorry about it!

Lou I see no reason to move her. I have Lizzy on the bed with me. I love it, she dream bfeeds and sleeps great and so do I, we are so in tune that we wake up at the same time. Dr Sears has a good book on it. I know AAP says not to but most people sleep in fluffy matresses, blankets, pillows and I know of a case a mom was drunk and smothered her baby so I totally see why they say not to, but if you do it responsibly and by Dr Sears guidelines, it is the most amazing thing, your sleep cycles regulate, it is really a bonding thing. I love holding her while it is quiet and it is just her and I.

Chris - congratulations momma! I am so happy for you! What a handsome boy!

kjm ouch hun, sorry about the painful sore on your breast, you are a champ for bfeeding your babes!

Amanda - love your chunky monkey!

Mellow - she is so gorgeous!

Annas - your guys is so handsome, I got a cute little girl for him ;) when are you thinking of trying again?

Margi How was the ceremony?

Ryann- oh the pic of you and DH kissing the babes is gorgeous!

I can't believe our lo is going to be 4 mos! We had a follow up echo today and she was not happy about it so funny complaining but not crying, trying to play with the US tool thingy! She is so strong she can stand up on her own for 3 min without any help except for balance! DS is so in love with her, he is so precious but growing too fast! He is now potty trained, yep, he just decided litterally from one day to the other!!! WOW!
