annashope wrote:Wow Barbara that is amazing beta I can't wait for the ultrasound :) I am definitely inspired by you and your story gives me hope that it will work for us a 2nd time too. Congratulations! how are you feeling? I have been meaning to ask you have you breast fed at all? did you have to stop for IVF? I am still breastfeeding so still no periods and I am curious how soon you can get pregnant once you stop bfeading?
I kinda felt like I was asking too much for it to work a second time and was confident that it wouldn't work.

I did breastfeed but only for 3 weeks because I was never able to produce enough. Oddly enough, my doctor never asked me about breastfeeding, he only asked me about my period. At the time of my consult, I'd had the odd/not really a period after the baby and a second real one. My start cycle testing was on my next period so it seemed like I got a period, made an appointment, then *poof*, I was on a cycle - everything moved really fast. My doctor didn't blink an eye that I was there so soon.

A bit of second timer advice... Try your best not to compare your cycle to your previous successful cycle. For me, my cycles were nothing alike. It's as if I had an expectation that things had to be the same to get the same result which is not true. I was filled with doom and gloom about this cycle. It's tough to resist the urge to make comparisons between your cycles but try to remember that any comparison that you make really doesn't mean anything.

I feel good... I'm very weepy this time. I knew to POAS when I cried because I saw a pumpkin pie, then at a school bus then over a Christmas candle. I suspected that something was afoot because I'm not an emotional person. The nice part is, I'm not getting that early scary cramping that I had with Brooke - I guess my uterus already knows what to do.

Barbara thanks so much for your advice. I also did not have quite enough breastmilk but I have been supplementing with formula every 2nd feeding. DH was a very sickly baby and so I was determined to get some of my immunity into Paul. I am still feeding with both breast milk and formula. I can usually get 3-4 4oz of breast milk a day and the rest is all formula but I guess because I am pumping every 3 hours...no period. I get occasional teeny tiny bit of spotting for an hour or so and then nothing. I am trying to figure out when I should stop bfeeding in order to increase make my chances for number. So based on what you are saying I guess if I stop about March or so I should be able to resume trying by late Spring/Summer right? Paul was a successful natural IUI after a failed IVF and a failed FET of 3 perfect expanding blasts so we are determined to give ourselves 6 months of natural iui's before trying anything more serious.

I am glad to hear you are feeling well and I can understand the weepiness. I was so weepy with Paul I cried at every sentimental commercial  I will be following you progress :) Good luck

Anna: I'd say that late Spring/Summer is a reasonable expectation if you stop b/f in March if your doctor has the same mindset as mine. If I were you, I'd go for the IUI as well since that worked for you. Also, I'm sure that IUI will be less stressful than IVF.

Hello again gals! How was your weekend?

Michele, how are you doing? How did your husband's tests go (one on Saturday and one today, right)? We are thinking of you for sure!

Neffi, how is your lining looking? I hope it was a GREAT appointment today for you!

AFM, we brought my son in to our appt last week and it went well. My husband actually carried him in quickly and out quickly, so he wasn't even in the waiting room for any period of time! Today, my ultrasound showed I'm ready for my ER. ER will be on Wednesday. I get so excited (and yet nervous) for ER.

Everybody else, any new updates for you guys?

Talk to you soon,
Alexis

I have another quick question for you guys. With an ER happening on Wednesday, do these lab values look ok to you? Estradiol (E2) 2739, LH 4.21? I looked at my past cycles and my Estradiol was never that high before retrieval. I hope this is a good sign and not a sign I will be hyper stimulated this time! Have any of you had hyperstimulation?

Thanks for your insight and experience!!

Alexis: On my first cycle, my E2 was 2147 and my LH was 4.24 just before my ER (I kept a spreadsheet, lol). This cycle, my RE really pumped up the meds (nearly doubled the FSH) but I did not ask about my labs like I did before. I did not overstimulate on either cycle. I got a full feeling with bloating but nothing like the OHSS symptoms that I've heard about.

First I would like to say that I am glad to have meet you ladies since this is something that we have in common. I know this page is for mothers who already have childrenand are having a hard time to try to conceive a second child via IVF but its one of the best pages that I have found. I am very excited/ nervous/ scared about my procedure but have faith that everything will be ok. I am having this done in Matamoros which is located in Mexico with Dr. Garza. I have been trying to prepare my husband and I on maybe what to expect when we start our IVF but I don't think you can ever be too prepared. Do you ladies think that I should stop reading articles about this or if I should continue to learn more . I hope to hear a responce soon from you ladies.

Thanks,
Wendy :D
Hello! I also want to go to Dr. Garza around February/March. Can you please send me his info, idk how to send you a private message. Thanks

Alexis: Best wishes for an awesome ER tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you.

Neffi: Hopefully, your lining will continue to develop. Has the doctor discussed any treatment alternatives/enhancements to help build a thicker lining?

AFM: I'm waiting for my ultrasound on Friday. On one hand, I want to obsess over my betas but with only two betas, there isn't much to obsess about. These IVF waits make it seem as if IVF has the power to slow the passage of time - perhaps physicists should look into this.

Alexis~good luck on egg retrieval tomorrow! I hope you have tons of strong eggs. Please give us an update when you are feeling up to it.

Neffi~so sorry your lining is not quite there yet. But do not fear--you still have time to get that extra .5 or more!

Happy Bunny~good luck at your ultrasound. I hope you see a powerful lil heart beating! Gosh--I'd forgotten about the whole waiting game and how it does your head in and how it just keeps going, even after the BFP! Pretty much until birth! Hang in there.

Michelle~Sorry you are having a rough time right now. I hope your husband is all clear with a healthy heart and tons of good sperm. So sorry about your friend.

I have started taking my Chinese herbs and am going to accupuncture once a week. I am also taking DHEA in prep for next IVF which should be in January. Trying to do eveything I can to get ready. I really should start working out too so I can be in top condition! Who knows if this stuff helps--but at least you feel like you are doing something. For my successful cycle I was taking herbs and doing accupuncture. DHEA is new for number two as I have heard it helps produce more and better eggs in older women. But I was real disappointed in it last cycle with only getting 1 follicle! I thought it would be the magic solution and it wasn't. But my Doc says it can't hurt to keep taking it.

Hi everyone, quick update as I am still pretty down and just don't even want to be on the computer. I am sorry to keep you guys hanging.

DH finally got the all clear for TESE in the OR. I have been on lupron for a week or so and went today for baseline. They saw a small cyst but said estrogen is within normal range although slightly elevated. I am all set to start stims on Friday.

I am nervous this time. It could really be our last try. And with both of us having tough surgeries it is going to be quite difficult for at least a fews days here trying to take care of Ella. We are hoping my mother-in-law will be able to help a lot.

Sending good vibes to everyone. Thanks so much for all your thoughts and prayers for my friend. Her service was last night and man was that tough. I can not even describe how emotionally drained I am from the past week. I will be in touch again soon...I am thinking of you all and praying you get your babies this time!
