He's arrived.
Duncan James arrived on the 27 June at 18.31 weighing a whopping 7lbs 9oz. He is still in neonatal care and will be probably until his due date another 5 weeks. I have been let out for few hours to get some clothes and to see his nursery which dh has finished and it is absolutely gorgeous.
I had an emergency caesarian due to pre eclampsia. My dh made me phone the hospital as my eyes were all puffy and my face was swollen. Good job he did as i was taken straight through and he was delivered 5 hours later. The anethestist said it was the biggest 33+wk baby he had ever seen.
I never thought that it would happen as quick but he is absolutley gorgeous. I would just say that if you have any doubts about swelling phone your midwife, if i had left it who knows.
Hope you are all well and babies are growing nicely.
Will catch up eventually as i am staying with him until he comes out.

OMG!!!!!!!! I am stunned! Glad that you and he are ok. What a weight! Imagine if you had gone to full term with him!
Does he just need a little help with breathing etc?
Many congratulations, and it sounds as if he'll go from strength to strength.
take care,

Gosh, Duncan's one heck of a premmie in terms of his size; I've never heard of such a young baby being anywhere near that weight. It's a good thing that you got to hospital when you did and obviously he's in the best place at the moment, although I can imagine how tough it is for you.
Hoping he's well enough to come home before too long.

TTC 5 years. Daniel & Charlotte born 22.03.02, 1st ICSI treatment. TTC for 4 further years. 2nd ICSI cycle abandoned, 3rd cycle BFN. Looking forward to being a happy family of 4.
my god what a weight, wonder how heavy he'd have been had you gone full term.
Anyway, hope he's home with you soon.
Take care,

ttc for almost 4 years, diagnosed as unexplained. Just about to begin treatment when we were lucky enough to concieve naturally. Our beautiful baby boy, Daniel, was born on 27 Sept 2003. Now expecting again, baby due 22 Aug 2005.
Can just stutter out a congratulations to you both on the birth of little (?) Duncan as in a state of Just can't believe it and you have buggered up my EDD board - honestly!
Seriously I am thrilled - also curious as to why he needs that long in neonatal at that weight - assuming breathing or sucking? or both?
Actually sucking does not need that does it.
Now looking at myself to check no swelling - obviously not picked up on urine or blood pressure recently which is a worry - lucky you both did what you did.
Take care and loads of love

ttc 9 years. 38 yrs old, dh 8 hrs younger!First IVF in Aug 2002 and had ectopic.2nd IVF neg.3rd FET and negative.4th FET and positive but sadly lost our little boy at 20 weeks.5th FET and Alice Isobel and Emily Charlotte born 5th Aug 2004!
Big congratulations to you and your dh and welcome to Duncan!!
TS sent me an email telling me your amazing news - I was so surprised, I've left my two to their own devices to come on and send my love and congratulations to you all!!!
When my girls were born (also at 33wks) they said initially they thought they would stay in SCBU until the equivalent of their term date, but they got the hang of eating (with a mother like me, its hardly surprising!!!) and so were allowed home after three! So hopefully Duncan will do the same and the three of you will be home together very very soon!
I know how hard it is having a baby in SCBU - not just physically but also mentally. So I'll be thinking of you all - and if things seem a bit tough at any point, keep holding on to the thought that it won't be long before you're all home together.........and then the fun really starts!!!!!!!
I'm so pleased for you - remember to take things easy. You need to look after yourself too!
Suprised they did not pop out eating walnut whips and bagels - sorry had to be done
Nice to see you on
Love

I remember when you said about his name ages ago and I said the singer from Blue was called that and now he is here with you. Where has that time gone?? Although he was early so that mus account for it. I will stop drivveling on and sign off.
I am so happy for you and I hope he doesn't have to stay in SCBU for too long.
You must be so proud. Great weight too! Well done.

congratulations on the arrival of baby Duncan, I am so pleased for you and dh. I remember we tested + around about the same time, you have brought it home to me how close my own little arrival is due.
I can't get over the size of baby Duncan, my friend had her son 4wks early due to pre-eclampsia and he was only 4lb odd so for Duncan to be 7lb 9oz is amazing.
Hi Helen,
Congratulations from me too! I am glad that you and dh caught your condition on time and that Duncan is such a good weight! Hope he will be out soon with you as Nikola suggests.
once again CONGRATULATIONS
