I read the news earlier this morning but waited until I got home from work to post...it's been a rather emotional day, I broke down at work took something totally out of content and so personal, my boss had never seen me so upset. It's so painful to see you go through this again, maybe it's easier when you're numb and early into the pregnancy but my heart breaks for you and David because of all the shit you've been through. Hun there are no words. Although I have not been posting, I have been reading everyday and praying for you. I hope that there are plans to figure out why you have had the repeated miscarriages. You definitely do not deserve this. I always admire how strong you are and your ability to pick up and move on - you are truly a special person. So far so good. Lsat fridays US showed a nice heartbeat at 150BPM now! Got the blood work back from Boston this morning and the TNF-alpha number has dropped some so the prednisone is working. I am pretty happy with my RE right now as he is really keeping on top of things. Go in for another US on Friday!

Just got through catching up for the past few days and my heart goes out to Leora and David. I agree with the other girls that you should definitely have testing done...

Hey guys

Leora, i read your news this morn too. It sucks. What else is there to say, right? But at least it's a really fast resolution and you can move on to the fresh which have almost always worked for you.

Afm, had my sns, everything is fine. Have about 8 follies on each side. They decreased my meds a little bit. And retrieval will likely take place on Wednesday, dec 14. Which is 1 day after my 40th bday. Here is hoping this cycle #6 will work.

Hey Lauren-
I never asked, but i'd imagine that, since the trigger makes u ovulate, it provides an ideal 'atmosphere' in the uterus for implantation. So the repeated shots keep renewing that for me. Hoping it works .

There really is nothing to say. This sucks.

I'm actually a bit numb and oddly not sad. It feels like the pregnancy was a dream and I've woken up. Weird.

In any case, I met with the RE today (the one that I really like). While in the waiting room, another woman started up a converation with me. Poor her - she didn't realize what a shitty day I was having and how little I wanted to be in the IVF clinic. She asked if it was my first time. I told her my whole story. She was completely stunned. yeah....

Anywhoo -- Dr. K asked if I minded that a student sit in our meeting. I said sure. She quickly summed up my case for him (PCO, MFI, 7 transfers, 4 pregnancies, 2 preterm deliveries in which none of the 4 babies survived and 2 miscarriages). He was a little shocked, too. Amazing how many people in my life don't think about the scope of what I've been through in the last 2-3 years. I guess when my friends see me everyday and most of our discussions are about TV or food, they forget that I'm living in this hell constantly.... I think the doctors and nurses at the IVF clinic are the ones who are the most amazed at the fact that I'm still trying (and you guys!).

Dr. K said that we could start as soon as my beta drops to zero and I 'get a period'. Since my beta dropped from 1187 to 312 in just 24 hours, I'm hoping that 'halving' time continues and we get to start our new cycle around the New Year.

When we talked about what other testing we could have done to explain our losses (I've already done repeat loss blood tests, HSGs, hysteroscopy, etc), she asked if I had a karyotype done (ie, a full chromosomal work-up). I haven't, but David has. Most of the doctors we've talked to said it's unnecessary, because 4 of 5 (now 6) babies HAVE made it past the first trimester and died because of extreme prematurity, making it very unlikely that I have a chromosome problem I'm passing down that would cause miscarriages. Dr. K recommended that I do the karyotype just in case.

The only problem is that a full genetic workup (I've already been tested for a few specific genetic diseases, like CF, familial disautonomia, Tay-Sachs, etc) takes about 3-4 months to get the results.

We decided that we'll do the karytype, but not wait to start our new cycle. Because it's so unlikely that there is something wrong with my chromosomes, we'd rather risk another miscarriage and do another cycle.

I filled the paperwork with the insurance. Just seeing the abbreviations on my paperwork now SUCKS --- G4 (4 pregnancies) P2 (2 births, both premature) Ab2 (2 abortions, aka miscarriages) CS1 (1 C-section) LC0 (no living children). I should be "rubber stamp" approved for my next cycle.

In other news, I had a minor procedure done to remove an ingrown toenail - OUCH. Ugh.... So now I'm limping around. Hopefully should be better in a few days, but in the one little tiny ray of sunshine in my life - since I'm not pregnant anymore, I've gotten the "good drugs". I took 2 tylenol with codeine and slept HARD last night...
