Jen: I am surprised that you are being asked about an amnio already. Normally, they wait to see what the results of the first and second trimester testing are. I was 37 during my last pregnancy and my scans were great. Both my OB and the doctor who did the scans said that based on the results, there was no reason to do an amnio because the baby didn't have a single negative marker. I suggest that you do the non-invasive tests first and then decide if an amnio is right for you.

My birthday is September 9.....sorry I have been a bit silent I am not feeling super happy or confident and it scares me to death that we won't bring this baby home....I know in reality we most likely will but my heart is having a hard time catching up with reality so I am a bit depressed.....our SS (Secret Surrogate) has canceled some appointments & is sort of jerking us around but we know in the end what she is really after is the money she is receiving so I am sure it will work out after all we do have Emilee to show for the last time around so I know it will be ok but it is hard when I am not the one carrying the baby I just wish sometimes she was safe in my belly.....this is a tough time.

On a lighter note the new bedroom is built now just needs to be painted & floored so we are getting ready and either way Em will have a new purple room! Sounds like everyone is moving along nicely can't wait to start seeing all the sweet new little baby faces that are going to start popping up on our board!

Katie, sweet Katie! I can't imagine what this must be like for you. I mean...I worry incessantly about evelyn and I have some control over what I do and I know for sure she will be mine. What you are feeling is totally normal and to be expected. But you are right...you have Em and there is no reason to think it won't turn out the same way this time. I am SURE everything will be fine. And you are getting so close. Prayers and love being sent your way!

Hopingforamiracle- Strangely I have never thought to test again after I get a high reading. I will try it the next time it happens and will let you know. My levels have actually been lower since I have been on bed rest. I am not sure why the baby is measuring small. I think its just genetics personally. She is on track to be under 7 pounds which is alright by me!

Mora- I hear you! I feel like I am going to explode and its getting so hard to get comfortable at night. I am counting the days hoping she makes it as long as possible...but I am counting down at the same time.

Hi Ladies,

I am officially coming over to this board. I have been lurking forever and have been so afraid to post here, just kinda nervous that something was going to go wrong. I am officially heading into my 14th week so I am feeling a little more confident. Still not at ease, I am a nervous wreck before every ultrasound. I decided to buy a fetal heart monitor (should be delivered by next week) hoping that will calm my nerves - it will probably be just one more thing for me to freak out about. Just cannot help myself

My first trimester was sheer misery. CONSTANT nausea and then there was bleeding around 9wks due to a subchorionic hematoma. I have not had any bleeding for the last week or 2 (thank God). My nausea is MUCH better - really only morning sickness now. So there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

My EDD is June 8, 2012.

Jen - In terms of the nausea I will tell you what finally worked for me. Peppermint tea and SeaBands. I also ate 6 SMALL meals a day. I also find that the morning are not as bad if I eat a cracker when I first wake up. Hang in there.

I had no change at my dr. appt yesterday.. ..yay!!!! So hopefully my hopes of making it to at least the 15th will come true. I am still on bedrest. Anytime I stand up to go to the bathroom or walk I have contractions, but not painful though. My tummy is just hard as a rock all the time, except for when I lie down. But as for now we are still cooking!

Hoping- I tested three times in arrow last night after dinner to see how consistent the results were...120, 126, 138! Bah!!! I have lost faith in my glucose meter. Oh well...there is no harm that can come from eating well I suppose.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I had some major scares this week.

Last time I posted I had some spotting after an internal U/S on Friday. That only lasted a short bit and I was good until Sunday morning at about 230am. I woke up and had more blood and this time the spotting included mucos and small clots. I thought for sure I was loosing the baby. Ugh... so I called my RE and he told me that based on what I was telling him it wasn't a M/C but just normal irritation from the U/S. They upped my does of PIO from 1cc to 2cc's to try to calm down my Uterus. That brings us to Tuesday.... I got up to get something from another desk in my office and felt a gush- major gush. I ran into the restroom and was basically gushing blood everywhere. This was a full on faucet of blood coming out. It was all over me and the toilet. I called my RE immediately and he told me to come in. I drove 30 minutes to his office thinking I had lost the baby. Got into the exam room and continued to gush blood in buckets all over the table and floor. He did the internal U/S and to both of our surprises we saw the little baby with a perfect heartbeat . The RE said I had a Subchorionic Hematoma in my Uterus below the pregnancy and that was where the bleeding was coming from. He said I had a 50/50 chance of the pregnancy progressing because of how large it was. Ugh!!
Well that takes us to Wed... LOL. I started wondering if I needed to get a Rhogam shot because I am RH-. So I called my regular OB and he confirmed I did and had me come in. Because of the bleeding he wanted to do another U/S (my 4th one in less than a week). I was so scared that he would find my precious bean with no heartbeat but instead he said "That is a gorgeous and perfect heartbeat!!!" When I asked about the Subchorionic Hematoma he said he only saw a very small amount left and I must have bled it out the day before. PRAISE GOD!

So as of right now I am 52 hours blood free! I did have a little mishap in the lab today however and passed out while they were taking jugs of blood from me. Ugh-- really??? Drama Drama Drama!!!

So I have affectionately named this baby "Drama Bean" instead of "Drama Queen" since it seems this little one wants to make me crazy for 9 months

Oh Jen!!! I am so very sorry about that scare. What a nightmare. I love your attitude about your drama bean though. Cute. Glad things are looking up and you are feeling better about it.

I look forward to officially adding you to the list in our weekly email. 14 weeks is right about the time you really start enjoying your pregnancy and not worrying about it so much. Even with all my recent complications I still enjoy it more now than I did in the first trimester. Happy 2nd trimester to you!

OMG Jen. It must have been awful to go through what you did! I am so glad your 'drama bean' is fine! LOL @ 'drama bean'. I am almost tempted to plagiarize that name. You have a great attitude!


Bliss - I spoke to my dietician this week and she said 15% error is within acceptable limits. She also said that when you feel your results are off, you can also do a control test with a control solution (did your nurse order one?). And after that we did a control test on one of my strips and realized that my strips failed the control test - it was off by +13 and in addition to 15% error. She immediately did another control test with a different batch of strips to rule of meter error and replaced my strips and said it is a good idea to do a control test with the first strip from each batch. She also disregarded the 3 off-readings i had and said it was probably the strips.

Felicia - welcome to the board! Isn't it exciting to just be on a pregnancy board? I used to look at these pregnancy boards and ivf success boards longingly wondering if I will ever post a success story.

AFM, I am finally 30 weeks today and hoping to hang on as long as I can. I pray that all of us make it to full-term or at least 36 weeks. It would be fun to have at least a couple of us be induced at 42 weeks . (Just talking in terms of gestation - dunno if it is a bad thing to have to be induced or to go over 40 weeks!)

Oh and my birthday is on the 12th of October.

Update

Just had OB appointment today. Baby measures 6lbs and 7oz and in a head down position facing my spine. The weight is above average I don't know the percentile though. I hope she is not going to come out over the 9lbs lol.

So far the cervix is long and closed. OB said it's not going to be anytime soon. That's good because it leaves me more time to do the things I need to get done before she's here. But we'll see.

Not much they can do for my carpel tunnel. Hopefully it will go away after delivery. I gained > 40lbs so far and my ankles on some days swallow badly. Also the sleep these days get more difficult with all the tossing and turning, and getting up every other hour to pee does not help!

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies, it does feel good to be here but I am such a worry wart that I am still a nervous wreck.

Jen - I am not the one to ask about when to resume sex. DH and I had sex 1 week after my 2nd BFP beta (we could not hold out anymore). So sorry about the Subchorionic Bleed. I know how crazy it is, I was right at 9 weeks when I started bleeding with mine and I am proud to say that I have been blood free for almost 2 weeks now.

AFM - Well I got my fetal monitor and as I thought it is just one more things for me to obsess about. It is insane. I cannot hear anything. I FINALLY found my own heart beat but after reading the manual realized that it is common to have difficulty hearing at less than 20 weeks But there were so many women online who bought the model I have who heard their little one's heartbeat at 14 weeks without trouble (which is why I bought that model). So frustrating!!! They also say it is hard because the baby is moving so much and is so small. Plus it is difficult if you are a little obese (which I am). So I guess I need to just give it up. Just thought it would be nice to hear the heartbeat Oh well. I am just trying not to freak out and start thinking that something is wrong. Told you, I am just such a mess.
