Barbara, I laughed about you wearing dark underwear and not having the light on in the bathroom! I'm sure everything is going fine for you. Ultrasound is Friday, right? Oh, I have a question for you too. After your first Beta, what were the next steps? Another beta in 2 days? Then, if all looks good, when is the next Beta and first ultrasound? I can't remember from the cycle that gave us our son...
Sorry, I meant to answer this sooner but got caught up in all my spotting drama.
What my doctor does is test your initial beta. Then test two days later. If the second result is over 1000, then they stop beta testing and schedule an ultrasound. If the second beta is not over 1000, they schedule another beta in four days then schedule the ultrasound if your beta is over 1000.
For me, my first pregnancy did not get over 1000 until the 3rd beta and my second pregnancy was over 1000 at the 2nd beta.
My first ultrasound was at 5W2D with my first pregnancy and with the second it was at 5W3D - the extra beta on the first pregnancy did not seem to effect the scheduling of the ultrasound. There, they look for the sac and you might see the yoke sac as well.
My next ultrasound was at 7W2D with my first pregnancy and 7W3D with my second pregnancy (although I had one sooner due to a bleed). This is the one where they look for the heart beat.
