Start stimulation yesterday. Will be a busy Christmas!

Just discover apart from the protocol in use, there is a major difference between my old clinic and the new one: the new one advise FSH (e.g. Menopur) and antagonist(e.g. Orgalutran) to be administrated in different hour, one in the morning and the other in the evening, while my old one told me to do both in the evening. I wonder how you administrate the medication?

Kerri- yeah on starting the stimms. I dont understand your question on how you do them...can you.explain more? I used the same clinic for my first and second cycle, but my meds and med schedule was different. My second cycle sounds just like your new cycle. I did 2 shots in the morning and 2 in the evening. So for me, I alternated sides. In the morning the shots went on the left side of my stomach and at night, on the right side. I believe I did follistim and lupron in the morning, then anothee lupron and then the menopur at night. What meds are you doing? This protocol worked out fantastic for me! I am now 5 1/2 weeks prego.

Afm- the trip is going well. I am starting to have dreams of us telling his family, and the dreams.dont go well. So, I just woke up and I am irritated and have a headache. I hoping it goes better than in my dreams. My dh and I are making brisket, aug rotten potatoes, sauteed green beans and salad for christmas eve dinner, then toorrow, we go over their cousins for the turkey, etc. you guys have a fantastic day!

Laura,

I am following a kind of GnRH antagonist protocol, which consists of the estrogen priming prior to the stimulation and a mid-cycle LH surge induced by GnRH agonist. It is my 5th IVF and I am doing it with a new clinic a bit further away from my home. According to the doctor, if this protocol doesn't work, then it means I have a fundamentalism problem. Anyway, a typical antagonist protocol involves the injection of hMG or FSH (Follistim and menopur in your case and menopur in my case) and antagonist (Lupron in your case and orgalutran in my case)in the later phase. Starting from Day 5 or 6 of the stimulation, antagonist is injected daily. My new clinic told me to inject hMG or FSH in the evening and antagonist in the morning. I used the GnRH antagonist protocol before, but the nurse told me to inject both FSH and antagonist in the evening, which is a bit like yours. That is something bothering me.

Kerri, I don't think the timing of the meds matter as long as you do it the same time everyday. I've had cycles when I've done them either way - all together and separated by 12 hours. The last cycle was separated and it was my best cycle yet. But the doc doesn't think it has anything to do with timing.

AFm, I am feeling super bloated. I was warned that if the cycle works and I get a positive, then that bloated feeling will return. And sure it is back, like after my ER. I am drinking tons of Gatorade, gained 4lb of water and told my doc about it. But so far so good, just hard to move around and breathing is hard a bit when I am going upstairs.

Ninde, bloated with water that is being retained in the abdominal cavity. Its a very mild version of ohss. Just have to watch do Dwight gain and drink lots of Gatorade to keep pushing he water to of the system. the severe version of ohss has lots more water gain, difficulty breathing and hospitalization. I did check with a doc on call. Seaside I sound alright just keep doing what is doing. Monday my regular doc is back.

The weird thing is my HPT is lighter today than yesterday which bummed me out. I think it's due to me drinking gallons of Gatorade and my urine being very dilute. I hope so! I would hate to feel this bloated and end up with a chemical!!!!

Kerri - just so you know, being young does have some advantages (ie, I have plenty of time to do as many treatments as I want), but really isn't a comfort. The way I feel is - those who are older have a lower chance of success, but got the chance to enjoy their 20s and live so much of their lives without this stress. Yes, because I'm young I have a better chance of success in the long run -- but I also have so much more of my life to live under this shadow. I hope that makes sense. I say to reach out to her. Tell her that you feel so much of the same stress. I find that no one has the exact same story or feels the exact same way about things, but it's so nice to know someone who understands, even if only a little bit.

Congrats on starting stims! I take Menopur and Orgalutran - and I've never been told anything about not taking them together. I usually take them both around 5pm in the evening.

Lydia - usually I'm a big fan of peeing - but step away from the pee sticks! Don't obsess about the darkness of the line -- so many things can affect that (urine concentration, dye concentration in that particular stick, etc). Try to wait for your beta tomorrow! You are definitely pregnant! But I definitely know how you feel -- a BFP is only the beginning and we both know how much can still go wrong before that baby is in your arms. But BFP is definitely a step in the right direction!

Gina - good luck with your husband's wrist! I've had plenty of operations (unfortunately...) but everything will be fine! Still bleeding? That's so weird. Can you ask a doctor about it?

Karen (kbillsy - your name is Karen, right?) - WOW! Congrats! I would check out the "Triplet Moms and Moms to Be" group on BabyCenter -- you'll find lots of info there. Good luck! Carrying 3 will be a real challenge!

Patricia - I hope your supplements work too. We've asked about supplements, but we were told that my egg quality is fantastic, and D's sperm count is so low, it's doubtful it would ever make a difference (ie, we'd still need IVF/ICSI) so we've been saving our money instead of buying supplements.

I definitely agree that way too many couple's leave counseling until too late. I recommend counseling to any of my friends who say things are a little rocky - it's easier to fix a small rip than patch a giant rift. But, yes, this guy handled this SOOO immaturely and meanly.

I can't forget about how far along I *should* be and it's so hard. <hugs>

Maria - I hope you are enjoying starting you PIO on Christmas. I'm sure you've never wished for a giant needle in the butt, but that's what you've got this year! :D 12mm lining sounds right on track!

Nicole (blue eyed) - Wow - all that baking sounds great! I was lazy and made muffins from a mix. --- I'm so sorry that your in-laws reacted so badly - but this is terrible news and crying is appropriate. I'm sorry that he was prying with questions instead of supportive. I agree - this is always hard.

Laura - wow! Jan 4th is a long wait. How far along will you be? I hope you had fun telling your family on Xmas eve!

Bonnie - oy, I'm sorry you are still dealing with draining! That's sucks. But your beta sounds awesome! You have a follow up beta again or a wait for an u/s?

Ilene (bodie) - 14 weeks pregnant - what a great Christmas gift!

AFM - well.... we didn't get a white Christmas here in Jerusalem -- we got a WET one! Huge amounts of rain - which is fantastic for our drought ridden country - but a little annoying!

I had to go to the clinic this morning for my beta blood draw. Of course, with my luck, I had forgotten my raincoat at work on Thursday afternoon, but figured it would fine getting it Sunday morning (and not worth the trouble to get into the office on a weekend). I hate umbrellas, so I don't even own one. I had to do some walking, so I decided (stupidly) to wear my sneakers instead of my less-comfortable rain boots - and forgot each sneaker has a hole in the sole! So now my feet are FREEZING and my socks are soaked.

I'll run out to buy a dry pair of socks and maybe a cheap pair of slippers later. I start work really early, so none of the surronding stores are open yet!

I'm (VERY IMPATIENTLY!) waiting for my beta results. Hoping for at least a drop....

Merry Christmas!!!!! Have you seen Santa yet?

DH and I went out for a nice dinner and then went to see Mission Impossible in IMAX which was a lot of fun. We rarely go to the movies so it was extra fun. I'm excited for Christmas morning just like a kid. We are going up to visit the in-laws tomorrow for dinner. MIL called last night to talk with DH and she was crying on the phone. This isn't exactly how I envisioned spending Christmas but it is what it is. I'm glad it is out and we can move on. I'm sure they will ask more questions but as long as they don't pass any blame, then I will deal with it just fine. They don't know about my medical issues so they make comments about my medications sometimes and MIL likes to tell me I'm fat. I will keep a PMA and get through just fine.

My good friend and I are going for mani/pedi day on Monday! Looking forward to that.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannakuh, Happy Kwanza, and if you don't celebrate a holiday then have a happy tomorrow.

Night night!
