Hello guys, I did end up in the hospital yesterday after all. At midnight I just fell light headed and nauseous and super bloated, like a balloon. So we called my parents who drove over to sleep here with DS while DH and I drove over to the hospital. They gave me IV fluids, checked my blood work and ovary size - although I do have a lot of water in the abdominal cavity they did not recommend draining it because of the risk of infection and bleeding. But I did get prescription for some good pain killers and zofran. Which will come in handy as I am pretty nauseous already.

The upside of the whole ordeal is that I got to find out my BETA, which is 215!
my doc is back in office and we just spoke. I am going in the office on Friday for repeat beta and progesterone measurements.

Leora - so sorry about how long this takes!!! This is the most maddening part of this.

Ninde - thanks for asking. It is difficult to sleep. I am a side sleeper but with this I can only sleep on my back. I am sorry your hip hurts. I find that it's hard to work out hard t my age because I have so many injuries that start to act up, knees, hips, feet. If I had to lose 10lb on short notice like you I probably even wouldn't be able to do it through training because my body wouldn't be able to take it. I would probably just have to restrict myself to 1200cal a day and hope that does the trick. Good for you for working so hard! Please be careful not to injure anything. Have you tried spin cycling classes? They are are a good way to burn calories while being low impact on your body.

Lyd- congrats on the beta...sucks on the pain! Cant wait to hear your beta later this week!
Bonnie- how exciting getting the ultrasound. And I think.you and I will both have our utrasound on the same day next week....the 4th. I will be 7weeks and 1 day at that ultrasound, but it will be my first with this pregnancy. We are hoping to be able to see the heartbeats at the ultrasound.

Question for everyone else... The estrogen patches...how long do they.generally keep you on them? And on the progesterone shots, do they keep you doing them until you are 12 weeks, or through to the end of your 12th week?

Wow, LauraN,so you haven't had an U/S yet? Your doc sound like my doc -in no rush to take a look at 5 weeks. He will wait till 6.5 or 7 before looking iniside. But it sounds like you are pretty sure you ll have at least 2 in there. Which is a good guess, I would say. To answer your question, my PIO goes till 10 weeks. And I do not have estrogen patches, cause my estrogen was very high due to fresh transfer. But with my frozen I went to 10 weeks with everything.

I talked it over with DH and we are both warming up to the idea of twins. He is less concerned about carrying them to term -he thinks we have excellent medical care and if bed rest is required then we will figure out how to support it. He was more concerned about financial aspect of three kids, which I was not worried about at all - people raise kids with little money all the time. But men are men and they worry about finances. So now I am excited about the possibility of twins!

Lyd- thanks for the response. I am such an inpatient person that it is driving me crazy, but they like to wait until.6 1/2 to 7 weeks so that you get to see the heartbeat. I think it would be great if you are going to have twins....and on the money , I think.people get caught up with having everything that they think their kids are going to want, but it is so not about things.I was a single mom for 11 years and my youngest was 5 months old amdy oldest 2 1/2. There were a lot of stuff that we didnt have, but, the boys are doing great and are no worse without having all of the stuff. On the PIO...I hope we only have to go 10 weeks...my butt is so sore and so bruised up.

Now is the time for me to get into high gear and get my body as ready as possible! Any tips and/or advice? I'm starting on Jan 2...gives me time to enjoy New Years Eve! :) My BMI is under what "My RE" wants. I'm going to give myself about a month before I go get my blood work. I want to weight in less than I do now. Going to see if I need Metformin again (I'm sure I will ) and get my Thyroid medication again. Last time I was told my GOOD Cholesterol was low but my BAD was fine. Which began my healthy eating craze even more! I don't think I've been back for more test because of our move here. So getting back to the healthy eating again. I stopped about 3 months ago. Luckily I never started back on soda's or sweet tea except one or two times a month. I drink water or grapefruit juice.

Oh and does your RE like everything good as far as blood work BEFORE they treat you? Like Cholesterol, hormones, Thyroid and the many others? I ask because we'll be flying to do our IVF and if things are okay prior they may put me on hold. My last RE was treating me and did NO B/W at all!

My RE only cared about my thyroid. Thats the only one they checked for me. Also, our issue was male factor, so the eggs were not in question so much, except for the age thing.

LauraN, I agree with you. More kids could actually cost less! 'Cause you are not driving them to various activities as much, because they can play with each other and entertain each other at home . Wow, a single mom with 2 year age difference! I admire you! Sometimes I almost have nervous breakdowns with my only DS - and my DH is by my side to help. Thats really impressive how you pulled that off and at such young age.

Gina- the only thing that my RE cared about was my thyroid as well, HOWEVER, please let them know if you are back on your meds and/or that you've been on them before. The reason, is that my thyroid levels were "normal" before my first cycle, but not really in the ideal range, but it didn't raise any red flags. BUT, I was also seeing an endocrinologist(long story, didn't like him and so now I'm seeing a different one), found out right after my BFP that my thyroid went wacky and was not normal anymore, thus medication. Well, since I was now on meds, they wouldn't start my next cycle (I ended up with a chemical) until my thyroid was where they wanted it, which was well below what it was before. So, just know letting them know about the tyroid condition is very important. From what I can gather, keeping it below a 2 or 2.5 is "ideal" for baby making. Mine before was in the 3's and 4's, then went up to the 5's after the pregnancy (up to 4.5 is considered normal), then now, being on meds, brought it down to under 2. I'm about to go get tested again sometime this week and then have my appt within the next few weeks with my endo so I'll find out if I need to add meds now. Another thing, do some research on the grapefruit juice. That has interactions with many different treatments and medications. I'll try to do some research and post anything I see that would affect the IVF or thyroid/metformin meds.

Hi Ladies,

I'M BACK!!! Wish I wasn't, but glad to see some familiar faces :)

Leora - Hello my dear friend, I'm so sorry for all the heart ache you have been through. I was hoping to log in tonight and find you with a little one. I admire your strength and courage to always keep going. You are an inspiration.

LYD10- How awesome! I think you and I cycled together along time ago. How wonderful that you have one son and now, maybe more on the way!!

So, I have some good news...we changed clinics and are with a new RE now and he advised that my husband have another semen analysis done. I wasn't holding my breath, because every SA has come back with Zero Sperm, so I was expecting the same. Well, he had 4 dead sperm in the semen analysis. Now, for most people, that would be terrible news, but for us, we were falling out of our chairs! The thought of potentially having our own biological family was amazing. I've been working through the tough choice of using donor sperm and not having our own kids, but when you run out of options, you only have so many choices. I had 8 IUI's with donor sperm with no luck, so we were just planning on moving on to IVF with donor sperm. NOW, with this great news, we are going to have DH go through a TESA with ICSI and see if that works! I am just overjoyed. I'm trying not to get my hopes up because there is a chance that they won't find sperm with the biopsy (already happened once to us), so I'm more realistic, but it's hard not to get excited.

Today was my first day on birth control, so I'm expecting the ER/ET to be sometime in February. I see a few others are cycling at that time, so I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and support each other through this crazy process.

Lots of love,
LauraN

Gina- looks like grapefruit can have some interaction with estridol and progresterone. Not exactly sure what kind of interaction yet. I would just doubt check to be safe.

Tiger- welcome! And that is great news on your DH. Good luck with all of that! So that is exciting about being able to start your cycle in Feb. There are several ladies that will be cycling with you!

Lyd: congratulations, that's fantastic news, yay!!!!! Now for the ohss to ease off! And thanks foor the suggestions. I think I've messed my metabolism up from years and years ofyo-yo dieting. I'll try the spin as well as the weights and im hoping to get some rebounding classes in too.

Rose: arnt those hormones wonderful!!!

Bonnie: great news for you too :D

LauraN: we also only have scans at 7 weeks here, Noone does them before that.

Tiger: nice to meet you :D I'll probably be transferring end of feb if all goes according to lan so will be lovely to get to know you :-)

Gina: I dont know anything about thyroid but it seems in general its good idea to cut out caffeine, dont eat too much fish because of the potential of high level of mercury and lots of water.

Afmm: remember I told you my friend married sinead O'Connor? News broke today that 16 days later they have ended the marriage. I spoke to him and he is devestated. Her blog was so dam self righteous and base about it. I know they are both adults and both responsible but I cant help thinking this was all about getting publicity for her new album and her tour. Its awful.
