HAPPY NEW YEAR Ladies!!!! Sorry I haven't posted much, but last couple of weeks have been crazy here. My IVF cycle has been moved to April due to they had no donor to match me this time :( So we are doing natural cycles with monitoring & some medication until April. Seems like we are going backwards, but I can't just spend my wheels until April. I need to feel like I am doing something. I will post personals after the weekend. I am so tired from work & all my joints are killing me gotta to love having Lupus. (sigh)

We - I can't believe you've already had your FET! Praying for not only a BFP this time around, but a sticky baby and a healthy pregnancy!

Kala - I see you have just had your FET as well. Sending you a lot of good vibes, too!

Blue - I hope you had a great time in Vegas! I think the trip was a great idea.

Ninde - Sounds like you had a wonderful New Year's Eve. I hope 2012 will bring only good things in your life:)

Lyd - Thinking of you, loving those betas, and hoping for great news at your first ultrasound!I hope your OHSS symptoms are lessening a bit and that you're feeling better.

Jayne - It is wonderful that your work is so meaningful. I understand your frustration with being unexplained. It's like repeatedly banging your head against a wall. It's not such a horrible dx to have in the beginning, but when nothing is working and there is no explanation, it becomes more and more difficult.

Sushine - I think the Attain program is a great idea and I agree with Lyd - I have faith it will work for you, especially since they wouldn't accept you into the program unless they think you are a winning bet :) I hope you had a great time with Belles.

Leora - I am so glad you have the play to focus on right now. This whole beta debacle is making me want to run my fingernails down a chalk board in frustration on your behalf. Let us know what the clinic says today. To answer your question from a while ago, my RE had no problem with DH writing the prescription for Zofran and then DH filled it at Superpharm, so we didn't go through the kupah at all. I think only certain Superpharms carry it, but it is not so expensive - something like 5 NIS/pill - so if you would need to go though the hassle of the paperwork again once you are pregnant, maybe getting it outside of the kupah is a better option. Also, I know you commented a few days ago about how you don't really trust your clinic so much. I know there are many positive things about your clinic and that you have built up a relationship with them, but I have been thinking more and more that you might be happier somewhere else, especially if you are now faced with a break before your next fresh cycle anyway. Let me know if you want to discuss it further - it probably best lends itself to a phone or in-person conversation since there is a lot to say on the topic.

Indigo - Sending lots of good vibes your way and hoping for great news in a couple of days!

AFM - Not much to report. I am a little concerned I haven't been eating enough/gaining enough weight. I hope the morning sickness will start to fade in a few weeks and that I will get an amazing appetite :) I am still quite fearful, but I am hoping that psychologically, this will begin to change once I hit 12 weeks (though of course reaching 12 weeks doesn't mean we're out of the woods). I am so excited for the new year and I hope that in 2012 all of our wildest dreams will come true :)

Hi everyone, Happy New Year!
Risked, its good to hear from you. I don't think you have to worry about eating enough this early on. The babies are tiny still and they get everything they need from you even if you are losing wait. Eating quantities becomes important in 2 and 3 trimester.
Minded, glad to hear you had a nice nye. Sorry about your sister.

My water is slightly better but I still look pregnant. I an freaking out a bit because I have to go to work on Tuesday and I really don't want people asking questions so early on. I will be 5 weeks on Tuesday and normally that would be nobodys business.

So, I was thinking today, what if this actualy worked this time? What would my due date be? So I went to a website that calculates due dates for people going through IVF. The website is http://www.ivf.ca/mobile.php
It helps you calculate you due date if you had a three day transfer or a 5 day transfer. There is also other useful information as well. Well, in any case, I calculated the due date, hypothetically of course. I found out some interesting information. According to the dates, ovulation day was 12/25. Of course I had an FET so that's not accurate but it's based on the 5 day transfer date. My hypothetical due date would be 9-16-12. Interestingly enough, when I looked at this date I was confused because the date seemed quite familiar. It turns out that I did not remember that my last FET was on 9-30-11, exactly three months to the day of this FET. That FET made my due date 6-16-12. Ironically, the new hypothetical due date is exactly 3 months to the day of my last due date which of course I MC. Not sure how I feel about that one. Well, I hope you guys find the website helpful. This is the only one I found that can calculate due dates for IVF cycles. I guess this is what happens when you have too much time in your hands. I need to get out of the house today. Probably will go see a movie with DH and the kids.

Happy New Year, ladies! I wish our dreams will all come true in 2012. Next year this time, we all have a healthy, pretty baby in our arms.

Marie, thank you for update my status. I like your fireworks and quotes. I tried this web site before. It is indeed useful. I will try it again after having the pick-up.

Kala, how sweet your DH is! I can vividly picture he rush to you and share a glass of wine with you..., very romantic!

Ninde, Thanks for asking. I started the stimulation on 23 Dec. The protocol is new; starting from day 11, the dose of Menopur was reduced, which was interesting. I am very curious about the outcomes. About Chinese lanterns, I saw a girl lighting one when we were watching fireworks. I was really worried when I saw her attempt to release the lantern. She failed several time, probably due to the strong wind. Eventually it worked and the lantern gracefully rose up to the sky. The scene is very beautiful. Oop, I forget to make a wish!

Jayne, I know the feelings of being told everything is fine, normal and perfect and still no babies. I wish I have a job to turn my attentions to but somehow still happy that I have time to remember all the timing and appointments.

It was a harsh holiday period. I am happy it is now over and I can start the New Year with new prospects. Happy New Year again to everybody!

Happy New Year Everyone!

BlueEyedDreamer, I look forward to hearing all about your Vegas trip, most of all "I bet" it was good to get away from it all.

Jayne, I'm in the same category really, unexplained fertility. RE put me on Levothyroxine mainly b/c my thyroid levels were borderline for the clinic's preference, but compared to the national average my levels are fine. I'm arranging to see a nutritionist to see if there is anything she can recommend, I'm so set on eatting the same things so a nutritional diet might be beneficial. But I can relate to how you feel with everything checking out ok and still no baby. On the flipside, I'm glad work is a good distraction, we know advocate care means so much to those patients and their family.

Ninde, Thank you as well for asking... My granny is on strict bedrest, no standing, no lifting and I know it must be hard for her AND all the workers. Pain medication is given to her per IV but my aunt has ordered to keep her on the mildest medication possible but not let her suffer at the same time. My aunt said she has visitors come in and is ok as long as she doesn't move. Surgery is out of question with it being a great risk for her age, but she's is so strong-willed and a fighter at 90 years old. We were all amazed how well she has coped without her Papa after he passed 6 years ago. How are you doing with the osteo?

LaureN, Rosie and Lyd10, Congrats once again! The betas are sounding so strong and we cannot wait to join you in 2012.

Mara, Thinking of you girl and praying you get plenty of rest and your mind doesn't go crazy in the 2ww. I cannot wait to celebrate your BFP!

AFM: Out of the blue on the way home from church today, dh asked me what do I know about adopting...He went on asking me if we would adopt someone right here in the county or state of FL, reminding me FL is the 4th largest state in the U.S. but I still would like to adopt outside the state. Doesn't mean much right now, but I was just happy to hear him talking about adoption. I told him why don't we meet with someone to ask all the questions we have, it wouldn't mean we would be committing to anything right away. He still wants us to go through the IVF this summer, but he thinks I don't have much confidence in IVF hence why I brought up adoption 2 weeks ago. I explained that I just need some pressure taken off, and feel adoption would ease my mind some- knowing we have a back-up plan to bringing home a baby. Of course tonight I'm now reading up on surrogancy and learning that Florida is one of the few states that hasn't banned it. The Florida law states that no actual compensation is permitted for the gestational surrogate and I had to go back and read that again, pretty interesting but of course we would pay her. He said it must be of someone we both don't personally know... he then said he knows of a former student who lives in Ga that did surogancy to help pay her way through college, and she majored in nursing. I though PERHAPS, It would be less complicated then adoption and it would be biologicially our baby IF we could use our own embryos so now the question is at what point do we decide to seriously look into this...He said he would be willing to talk with a family lawyer. It's seems so much easier then going through 6 possible cycles of IVF this year, but then again anything worth having in life is not meant to be easy. He still thinks I would miss out on the chance of carrying our own baby, you know that special bond and it would make me somewhat jealous that she's carrying our child and it would be an emotional episode? However our focus should remain on our long term goal and we should keep these options are all around us. So my prayer for 2012 is to start a family and that's keeping it simple.

sorry I've been absent and no personals - I'm having a crazy week!

We are full into our performance schedule -- 6 shows this week! Today (Monday) no shows, but yesterday we had TWO (matinee and evening). It's a crazy week.

On top of that, the main secretary is ill, so I'm covering her work. I usually have very little to do - and I'm loving being busier at work, but that means less time to update my ladies!

We had bloodwork/ultrasound/doctor appt yesterday --- bad news. Beta is still going up (now 414) and still only a teeny (3mm) sac on ultrasound. The doctor wanted to "wait and see" more, but I threw a fit. I can't stand waiting anymore.

My doctor is super hesitant to give methotrexate and I don't understand why. He says it's a very toxic and dangerous drug and I'm better without it. I know that 'without it' is better than taking it, but I can't stand the waiting anymore! So we are trying something else --- he said that we can't be sure if this is ectopic or leftover tissue from a uterine miscarriage ("incomplete abortion"). So he gave me a round of Provera -- if this is leftover tissue, hopefully getting a period will 'flush it out'. If after my period, my beta still goes up -- then we'll talk about methotrexate again. GRRRR but at least we are doing something.

So I'm now on Day 2 (of 5) on Provera.

In other news - I'm slowly convincing David that we NNEEEDDDD a good vacation. So I'm planning a CRUISE! :D Hopefully, we'll fly to Barcelona on Feb 18, then take a 9 day cruise through the Canary Islands and then fly back. I'm so excited! The biggest issue is that we would leave on a Saturday (Shabbat for religious Jews) and that the cruise isn't Kosher. We aren't sure we are giving up being Orthodox, religious Jews, but we want to take a break from it. My in-laws are crushed. But it's not really their decision.

If David gets the time off work, I'm booking it!

(one wrinkle is that if this pregnancy ends soon, we might push off the next cycle because of our vacation, but I'm fine with that. It's a bit depressing that our next cycle will be in March - and if it works, I'll only be due in December next year --- a whole year from now.... boooo....)

Hi ladies,

Ok...so I usually don't POAS until beta day, but I broke down and POAS'd yesterday and today. Yesterday would have been 11dp3dt and today 12dp3dt. When I first did them both they were both negative...however, yesterday I did it really early morning, so I went back to bed. Woke up 2 hours later and there was a very very faint line.

So then this morning...did it again...again negative...but then went back to bed...this time I looked at it half an hour later and there was a line again...and it was darker. What does this mean??? They were dollar store tests...so not sure on their quality. The box says nothing after 10 minutes is trust worthy. I'm feeling very bloated and crampy and breasts are super sensitive...but all of that could be due to progesterone. Am I making things up by seeing an extra line?

What do you guys think?

Maria - congrats on being PUPO! Wouldn't it be great if we both got our BFP's...we could be pregnancy buddies.

Leora - a vacation sounds like exactly what you guys need. Some down time to reconnect. I'm sorry you're going through this craziness.

Happy New Year everyone!

Re: Fall/Winter Board Combined (Sept2011-Feb2012) This is it

OMG I'm soooo frustrated. I was so confused about my treatment that I wrote an email to a family friend (in the USA) who is an OBGYN -- he wrote back that Provera is totally useless and this plan is poor medical management. He said he would do a D&C (or Misoprostol) to rule in/out the 'incomplete miscarriage' idea, and if the beta levels don't drop, to do methotrexate immediately. He said that Provera won't cause a period, and that a period is not enough to 'flush out' anything in the uterus.

Now I'm so frustrated and confused. I told the RE yesterday that I thought this was a bad idea, and that I'd gotten second opinions that said so.

I don't know what to do.

I could go in to see the "on-call" doctor at the regular women's clinic - but they tend to be mean, brusque and annoying.

I called my high-risk OB from my first pregnancy (the only OBGYN here that I've liked at all). I convinced her secretary that even though I'm not dealing with a high-risk pregnancy at the moment, that I could come and see her. I'm seeing her tomorrow at 11:30am. I don't know what she'll say.

Indigo - I hate to be the barer of bad news - but you really can't trust HPTs after the time limit. Sometimes, a line showing up later can be a really early BFP -- but at this point (~14dpo+), you really should be seeing a better line. I hope that yours is one of those stories that ends up with a perfect pregnancy despite a low beta, but I wouldn't get excited yet. Good luck on your beta....

Indigo,
Remind us when is Beta? Not sure if I would trust a cheapo pregnancy test but it' just me...You should definately get a better brand and test with first morning urine to help confirm everything.

Leora,
A cruise sounds so fabulous and glad work/opera is giving you a nice distraction as you wait for the Provera to kick in. Staying busy right now is the best thing you can do.

Amanda, sorry about the donor matching issue. I may be cycling with you as early as April since dh and I are trying to get our tax refund before we start cycling again. I'm currently pulling all receipts together to itemize everything as medical expense. It may vary from state to state but in Florida I checked it out and it's legit to write off fertility treatment as medical expense. It would be worth checking it out if you ladies haven't already done so.

AFM: Clarification: I haven't gotten approved for IVF ATTAIN program yet, our coordinator said that we should be good candidates for it, she said it's common for couples to try one IVF on their own and then try to get approved for the program. The coordinater asked if we wanted to go ahead and start the paperwork but we agreed to after the holidays. I sent her an email last night so she should calling us sometime this week to complete the application. I will let you know as soon as we get approved but funds to cycle will be better in late Spring- early Summer. DH and I did agree there will be no more IUIs, even after our RE suggested to try one more. We're ready to move on.

Leora, I'm so sorry about your doctor troubles. I tend to agree with your USA obgyn opinion. that's exactly what my doc did during my last chemical. He went in and did a mini d&c - flushed stuff out and sent the sample to the lab to see if there was fetal tissue there. And there was fetal tissue there, so he felt good that he got it all out and it wasn't an ectopic. Then he watched my betas go down.

#3 IVF ectopic
