Indigo-woohoo!!! Am so happy for you. Can't wait to hear about your great Beta tomorrow.

AFM-will probably POAS again tomorrow morning, I'll be 4dp5dt tomorrow. The last two pregnancies I got a BFP at 4dp5dt. So well wait and see wha tomorrow brings. On a happier note, we just booked our cruise for the summer. We will be going on the Oasis Of The Seas. I am so excited. This cruise is the largest ship in the world and has two rockclimbing walls, an aqua theater, zip lining on board, an ice skating rink, a carrousel, and so much more. We booked two connecting Boardwalk View Balcony Cabins overlooking the Boardwalk and the Aqua Theatere. We will be on deck nine. The kids are super excited as well. I think I'll keep myself busy for the next couple of days at least looking ay pictures of the ship an planning our excursions. Yay, I can't wait.

Lyd-unfortunately it goes to some places we have already been, but what the heck. We are going because of these ship not for the ports necessarily. This one goes to Jamaica, Mexico, and Labadee which is one of Royal Caribbean's private islands off the coast of Haiti. I am really looking forward to this cruise. We have been on alot of cruises but this one is amazing. I can't wait. How are you feeling? Here are a few photos of the ship.

OMG,this cruise looks fantastic. We went on an Alaska cruise 5 years ago but the ship was small. This looks phenomenal! You ll have so much fun!
I am feeling ok. Thanks for asking. The water belly is coming down very slowly. Still have a 2nd trimester belly and 7lb of water inside. But I am not complaining. If that's the worst thing that happens this pregnancy I will be very grateful! I picked up some oversize sweaters to wear to work this week because I don't want any questions I don't know how to answer yet.

Indigo! Congrats! Did the line come up right away? I hope so, that way you don't have to worry anymore about the accuracy! I don't trust tests after the time limit, however I do trust the Dollar store tests. They have always been accurate for me and gave me my first positive.

Maria- The cruise sounds amazing!

Leora- So sorry about the mess you are in. I hope you get somewhere soon.

Christy- Thanks for the info on the attain program. I like how they say "up to" but not a definitive amount.

Patricia- How much have you changed your diet along with doing the exercise program? I know it is tough! What are you doing for cardio? You do have to watch out for fluid retention when pushing cardio to the limits. Good luck!

AFM- Vegas was totally awesome! Yeah, we did come home on NYE. We got in at 11:30pm Sat night. We partied it up the night before and had a pre-NYE party. We stayed at the Golden Nugget which is downtown (not on the main strip) and we loved it. The hotel was great and it had a large pool with a shark tank in the middle. The water slide when through the tank!

Our highlights included: the thrill rides on top of the stratosphere, seeing Absinthe at Caeser's Palace, and staying up all night watching an AC/DC cover band at the pre-party festivities and gambling!

We are both totally sick now but had a blast. It was really nice to get away and not think about anything from the "real" world.
Here are some pictures of the rides on top of the Stratosphere. The scariest was the Xscream which is like a giant teeter totter that plunges you over the edge of the building. We sat in the front row which is the only way to do that one! It's quite intense. You are rushed over at 30 mph and then it stopped you just in time. There is nothing like dangling in the air at 1000ft off the ground!

Hi everyone~

Nicole~glad you had fun in Vegas. Are you sick from drinking too much or an illness? I'm sorry. No fun. Ride looks crazy!

LYD~if it makes you feel any better... I look 2nd trimester pregnant from all of my junk food today and I'm not even pregnant. Just PMS-ing. Should get period tomorrow.

Maria~ cruise ship looks amazing. I wish I could talk my husband into taking a cruise because we're looking for a trip in April but he won't budge. I want to plan something so we have something to look forward to. I would love to visit India but I think our son is still too young. My top three countries that I have vacationed are New Zealand, Costa Rica and Africa. All fun. Good luck on your test tomorrow.

Indigo~ big congrats! Yippee! Looking forward to hearing your beta number.

Ninde~ I know you're anxious to start but going into a cycle being healthy and fit seems like it would result in better outcomes. Weight loss is so damn hard. I'm thinking of you.

Sunshine~ We did the attain program with our first IVF(18K). We ended up getting a refund of 14K back because we did not have any frozen embryos. Then we bought a 2 cycle package with our refund (14K) which paid for our last IVF (BFN) and will pay for our next cycle. If it doesn't work, I think I want to try a new clinic for our donor egg cycle/second opinion. It's all so much money. Ugh! That does not include all of the meds.

Leora~ totally lame. I'm really sorry this cycle will not end for you. The drama must be overwhelming. I think I would be planning a vacation too. Just curious... if you guys were to take a break from being Orthodox Jews for awhile, would you consider donor sperm?

AFM~ worked today. Not quite as crazy as my last shift. Just tired from working 13 hours. Should get period tomorrow. Glad that I decided to wait until my Feb cycle to start stim meds because mentally I'm not ready yet. This sounds harsh but part of me feels like all of those hormones are poison. I hate taking them because they make me feel so unhealthy and they freak me out about getting cancer and clots. I'm looking forward to a healthy month of running and getting fit before I take it on again. In fact, part of me wishes that we would have decided on egg donor with our next cycle. I'm over the genetic connection. I just want to be a mom to more children.

Amanda - ugh! I'm so sorry your cycle has been postponed until April. I'll probably be cycling with you then, though. Let's here it for springtime!

Lydia - so Tuesday is your "week" marker, huh? Happy 5 weeks! Add a ticker, they are super fun! Sorry you are still so bloated though. There's nothing anyone can do? (Besides the awful "fluid drainage") Any idea why you have OHSS? I know your e2 levels were high, but how did your clinic let this happen? --- also, what did you do with your ectopic? Methotrexate?

Maria - at this point, there are a million dates in my calendar of life -- when we cycled and got pregnant, when we lost those babies, what would have been my due dates (even with BFN cycles). ---- on a different note - we've never done a cruise before! Any advice?

Kerri - woohoo for stimming! Any idea when your retrieval will be? How is the stimming going?

Christy - I think adoption is a great "back up plan" for if the IVF doesn't work. That's why we are sticking to this waiting list (7 years! gah!). If the IVF doesn't work by then, we'll definitely be adopting. I hear ya on 'no more IUIs'. Good luck focusing your energy on the IVF Attain application!

Indigo - well, sorry I was the "nay-sayer" -- congrats! Be obsessive and post a picture, please? :D Good luck with your beta today!

Bonnie - 6 weeks today? Great! Good luck on the u/s tomorrow.

Patricia - hmmm.... that's a tough decision. Will they weigh you, or just take your word for it?

Barbara - 10 weeks! awesome! I hope you start feeling more energy in the 2nd trimester.

Nicole (blue eyed) - we flew once on NYE (celebrated 2006 on an airplane!) because it was a great deal! The plane was almost empty and we paid peanuts for our flight :D Your pictures are convincing me that a vacation is JUST what I need!

Amy (Jayne) - unfortunately, the donor sperm issue wouldn't be solved. In general, *WE* are fine with using donor sperm, but the Israeli Rabbinate is not. There is separation of religion and state here for most things, but a lot of the 'life cycle' things (weddings, divorce, funerals, etc) are run by your respective religious authority (ie, the Rabbinate for Jews but different authorities for other religious groups). If our child is considered a "true *******" (ie, conceived by an illicit relationship - such as incest or adultery), s/he would not be allowed to marry here in Israel, or be buried in a regular cemetery (only one of the 'outside' ones for suicides and other people who aren't allowed to buried in a regular cemetery). Of course, we could try to keep our use of donor sperm a secret from the government, but that's complicated. Ugh.

in short - *we've* never had a problem with donor sperm, but it's a huge bureaucratic nightmare.

AFM -

I've decided NOT to stress about this. I'm already in the middle (day 3) of my Provera, so I'll just wait another week and see what happens. I'm not seeing another doctor (either an OBGYN or a different RE at my clinic). For my appt *after* the Provera, I'll request a different doctor.

Of course, we won't know anything until TWO blood tests after the Provera -- one to get a baseline and the other to see if it's going up or down.

UGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH. I had hoped this would either be my longest pregnancy, or my shortest. Now, it's (almost) neither. UGGGGGGHHHH

Also - I'm getting a bit nervous about spending $3,000 on a vacation. The cruise is about $1,700 (for both of us) and the flight to Barcelona is about $800 (for both of us). Factor in travel insurance and the mandatory $12/day/person gratuity on the boat and we are up to $3,000 before our spending budget. That's a lot of money. I'm trying to convince myself that we deserve it and we'll love it and we'll rarely get the chance to do this again. But it's still a lot of money!

We just got our property taxes bill in the mail- and that's $1,000 (yes, in a ridiculous manner, the TENNANTS pay the property taxes on a rental apartment here, not the owner). Gulp.

We can cover this, but only by dipping into savings. Gulp.

oh - and several people asked about the possibility of me having a D&C...

since I've already had 2 D&C's, and I have an issue with pre-term delivery (even though I haven't been officially diagnosed with cervical incompetence) --- everyone (including me!) is super hesitant to do another D&C....

Indigo - Good luck with beta today! I am rooting for you and hoping for good news.

We - Hoping this week will bring you good news by its end. I know this part of the wait is maddening. This past cycle I was totally convinced until 5dp5dt that I was out as usual, then I started getting the tiniest hint of some symptoms and the next morning I got a positive. I am still very optimistic for you, but I know this part sucks. And yeah, you are right, each cycle is definitely different in terms of symptoms or lack thereof during the 2ww so it is very hard to generalize based on past cycles. By the way, that cruise sounds pretty sweet :)

Sunshine - Interesting looking at the criteria for the Attain refund program. I really think you will qualify. I totally agree, though, what exactly does "up to 70%" mean, and what is the criteria they use to decide whether you get 70% back or whether you get 50%, for example? Also, if you get pregnant and G-d forbid later miscarry, do they view that as "success" or are you able to continue on with remaining cycles or get the refund if it's the last one?

Bonnie - Good luck with your ultrasound tomorrow! Nice ticker :)

Ninde - Such a personal choice, it's hard to advise. Personally, I think I might postpone a month to work on the weight loss because I think being squared away with that in advance would make the whole cycle experience less stessful than wondering if anyone is going to give me a hard time about it and whether I will really be able to lose a significant amount of weight while downregulating. On the other hand, I completely understand 100% the desire to move things forward as soon as possible - waiting around can be very hard. You know your body better than any of us, and I am sure you will make the right decision for you. I guess another consideration is how you personally feel about your weight and health right now - if you will feel healthier and more confident entering a pregnancy at a lower weight, that might be another reason to hold off for another cycle, but if it doesn't make a difference to you beyond your clinic allowing you to cycle, perhaps another reason to move forward.

Happy Bunny - Great news and congrats on "graduating" from the RE.

Blue - Love the pics and glad to hear you had a blast!

Leora - Didn't see your latest update when I wrote you this morning. It will be great if the Provera can do something for you. When will your next appointment be after the Provera? Not trying to complicate things further, but if you are interested in trying the miso/Cytotec, I do wonder whether it might be easiest for you to do it while you are already bleeding. I think the trip sounds wonderful. I think if it's in the budget, you should splurge - it sounds like a one-time thing and you guys deserve a fantastic getaway. Oh, also, DH told me that Zofran is now approved by the health ministry for m/s in the 1st trimester...it's apparently a very new thing. According to him, to get it from the kupah, you now just need to bring a letter of permission from the prescribing ob/gyn to the pharmacy along with the prescription and no need for any more documentation.

P.S. I don't get it...why doesn't what happened with the twins in July fit under the dx of "cervical incompetence"?

AFM - I am having a crappy day. I woke up with a big headache and it took me forever to get out the door. One of the computers in the lab crashed so by the time I arrived, there wasn't a place for me to work (so I am sitting here in the computer lab in another building). Since I am not physically in the lab, it's not as if my boss has seen me at all today, so I may as well be home. I am feeling so totally unproductive and I am really cranky. I also lost everything I worked on yesterday on the computer that crashed, so now I need to recreate it, which is pretty annoying. I am seriously considering just going home early and trying to sleep off the headache. I am also frustrated with myself because I am so lazy these days. Also, our apartment is a disaster zone - DH is unwilling to pick up the slack and seems content living in a pig stye, so we desperately need a cleaning person to come regularly, but finding someone who will come consistently is a lot easier said than done:( In the large scheme of things, my complaints are petty - this I realize :)

Hi ladies,

Very confused now. Yesterday's test was a definite positive within the proper time frame. This morning a definite negative when I POAS'd. In my way for my beta. I'm sure it'll be low if at all. Grrrrr.

But I must say it was very exciting to see a positive yesterday. I've never had one before.

I'll let you know my beta later today. Hoping for a miracle!!

Indigo.

Re: Fall/Winter Board Combined (Sept2011-Feb2012) This is it

Post by Kerri_789 »

Leorira, I am so sorry for your beta issues. My IVF experience had me lose my trust on any doctor. This lose of trust is somehow restored by my new clinic and new doctor. I hope everything will turn out all right for you. We all have been working so hard and we deserve our own babies.

AFM, I was very excited to receive the call from the day monitor crew yesterday: my pickup is scheduled tomorrow (4 Jan.) morning. The new protocol took care of my follicle maturation and embryo implantation problem at the same time. I had heavy abdomen and bruises in my injection parts during this stimulation, which did not happen before. My last echo (2 Jan.) showed I have 8 follicles in my right ovary and uneven sized follicles in my left one. I hope I have a lot of mature eggs to work this time. Just like previous IVFs, they will do ICSI to assist fertilisations. I hope to have enough embryos to be frozen this time. If the plan stays unchanged, we will have the transfer on Saturday (7 Jan.).
