Just pop in to see if someone had urinary tract infection right before ET. How did your doctor treat the infection? I had abdominal pains for the whole day yesterday. I woke up this morning with the urge to urinate. I suspected that I may have urinary tract infection and later the urine test confirmed my doubt. My general physician prescribed the antibiotics, which I really wish to have an alternative...

Kerri-I am so sorry about your UTI. I don't have any personal experience with UTI's before ET bit you should be just fine taking antibiotics. Doublecheck with your RE anyways but I'm sure it's going to be ok. Hope you feel better soon.

AFM-still POAS every day. So for so good but I know Bette then to get excited. Beta is scheduled for Monday. Below is another picture for the POAS enthusiasts

Gina- I totally understand where you are coming from, our plan is to apply and finance the loan through the IVF Attain Program, and hopefully through them it will be approved--so we can only try! To find the nearest clinic that offers this program you can visit them online at http://www.attainivf.com. Dh and I will call them back this afternoon to gather more information and start the application. I'll let you know what we find out...Any other questions feel free to send them my way.

Ninde- You sound like you could use a nice cruise with Leora and Maria. Be so nice to get away from it all.. Myself I've never been on one, dh says he would go bizzark on any kind of boat for more then a day, but I told him they do port and you can get off and explore the islands. Idk but I think the experience to Aruba 10 years ago with massive 2nd degree sunburns was enough for any other exotic vacations, so since then he's preferred to keep his shirt on. Anyway I hope the calmness sets in soon, but I feel with all this upcoming treatment we need to find some relaxation techniques. Dh gave me a yoga mat for Christmas and I stretch everyday, it feels good to take up some form of exercise/hobby.

Kerri- Talk to your RE to find out best treatment for the UTI infection, most of all keep drinking plenty of water.

Maria- So I'm thinking only 3 more days...yay yay yay, I really cannot wait to celebrate your BFP!

Lydia, Thank you and maybe it will be happening before summer. You did the right thing by going in for 3rd beta, anything to help ease your mind is always best and I'm glad you got comfirmation that everything is going well.

Today is my son's 13th birthday. My son was born on Three Kings Day or Epiphany. For those that share those beliefs, today is a very special day. But more so for me because my son was truly the best gift that God could ever have given me. I've never knew that love could fill your heart, soul, and your entire life until my son was born. I told him today that I loved him before I even met him. It's a love that can not be compared to any other. His father and I were so scared and felt like we were not ready when we found out I was pregnant. I thought I was too young at 24 and I didn't know if I could be a good mom or tge kind of mother my little one truly deserved. But we were ready and didnt even know it. His father was so pround when his first and only son was born. I was beside myself with love and joy. Staring at this little being that so beautiful and a part of me. He is such a special child for many many reasons. I wish his father were here today to celebrate and rejoice in this right of passage of going from being a child to being a teenager. It hurts my heart to know that he is missing this moment and that my son has to be missing his father today. I am very proud of him. He is such a loving, caring, and string child. I couldnt be prouder of my son and want to wish him a very happy birthday today.

Happy birthday my son. No matter what happens in life I will always love you and be there for you. I love you with every bit of my being.

I have been reading all your posts for some time now and just now got the courage to write.

I am 39 and looking to start IVF. I have my first meet and great with the RE on January 16th and I'm so nervous. My husband and I both came from very abusive relationships. I have 3 children which were concieved naturally, 16,20 & 21, and he has a son who is 8. When we first got together we had agreed that we would not have children because I had my tubes tied when I was 23. Now, we both want a child together. Neither one of us shared with our exes what we share together. Is it weird that nearing 40 we would both want a child? My children know that I have my tubes tied but and they are the ones who have brought up IVF and how much they would like to see us have a child together. Of course we have decided to have a baby on our own terms but it is so wonderful to know that our children want this also.

I would love some words of wisdom from all of you as I start this journey. I hope that if all goes according to plan by the end of the year we will be welcoming our new baby. Is it naive to think that it could happen on the first try at my age?

First PIO shot went off without a hitch, though that IM needle sure looks scary when you've gotten used to the SubQ shots. And I decided to POAS this morning to have a reference. I'm an idiot and bought the strips instead of sticks, so I got to pee in a cup and dip. No photo of this one, but there's just the one control line so far. Last night I was imagining (or feeling, who knows) implantation twinges. Oh, what this 2ww does to our minds!

Bonnie and LauraN- how are you guys feeling?

AFM - went to the doctor this am for U/S - everything still looks great - I'm 8 weeks 2 days today and the babies are measuring 8 weeks 1 day, 8 weeks 3 days and 8 weeks 4 days so they are all right around where they should be. They officially released me since I am seeing the perinatal dr next week - they said the perinatal will take it from here on out. They gave me a schedule for tapering off my estrogen and progesterone over the next few weeks - I'll be done with both by early Feb! I'm beat from being back to work this week - looking forward to resting up this weekend!

kerri - i thin yo'll be ok taking antibiotics. also cranberry juice is supposed to help. but not nearly as eefective as antibiotics obviously.

AFM - nothing much to report. busy day at work. which is good. making the time go by. i will go for 4th beta on wednesday next week to prepare myself for the u/s on friday. i dont like surprises. this way if the 4th beta is looking not so good - then i'll be prepared for bad news on friday. but hopefully the beta will be looking good and i'll prepare myself for good news on friday.

Question for all- During the time of your IVF cycle. How many trips to your clinic are needed? Average amount? I know things can change etc..just trying to do a little planning . When we go, we'll stay near by the whole time. They won't let us do blood work here and just go a few days prior to Retrieval and Transfer like Shady Grove would have.

Kerri - my clinic actually had me take doxycyclene prior to transfer, so I don't think antibiotics are a problem. And yes, cranberry juice helps too. Hope that resolves soon - I've only ever had one and it was NOT fun!

momma - welcome! I'm nearly 39 and am trying for my second child. It can most certainly happen on your first try, has for many ladies that I've seen here. This is a great place for support.

Gina - you don't want to know how many trips I've had to make to my clinic. That's frustrating they won't let you do your u/s and bloodwork remotely. Mind if I ask which clinic?

Gina: It depends what protocol you are on. I found a sample calendar on-line and it's similar to what I did. http://www.advancedfertility.com/sampleivfcalendar.htm

What is not on there (that we did) is the pre-IVF blood work, the semen analysis and the cycle start blood work and ultrasound and I think that I did an ultrasound during the Lupron phase that isn't on the calendar and a blood test after the HCG injection day. Also, if you are pregnant, then you have about 3 betas and 3 or 4 ultrasounds until you are released to the OB at about 8-10 pregnant.

Basically... You can read a few good books just on the time that you'll be spending in the waiting room for all the seemingly millions of visits.

Ker: that's fantastic, and enjoy the implantation twinges again sometimes I smile when i see the differences between the US and irish clinics - there is no way they would take photos of the embryos for us!!

Lyd: try not to worry too much, I think your numbers are really good and im really hoping for you x

Gina: im not sure if your clinic will be the same but my clinic says that 6-8 visits may be necessary

Afm: took down the decorations down this evening and the house looks so much less happy
