for some reason its not letting me post the photo. will try again later.
but on monday we got home after being out running around feeling fine the whole time, got home at six pm and i was feeling my lower back hurt some, so i asked dh to massage my back. i threw up some but nothing significant. thought it was the fast food we had for lunch. oh well dh asked if we should go to the hospital and i said no coz i was not in pain just uncomfortable. Well he packed his bag and told me he better get his rest incase we go in. so i stayed up watching tv till 11pm. i went to bed feeling fine. woke up at 12 in pain. i was cramping on and off. i told dh and he again asked if we should head to the hospital and i said i think its just braxton hicks they will send us back. i laid back down and lol they kept coming back to back. so i decided to time the contractions. 7minutes apart. i told dh they are 7min apart and he said we should go. well i gave in and by they time we got to the car they were 5min apart. the hospital is about 30min drive. well on the way there i was looking at the clock and contractions were 3min apart. boy was i scared. when we pulled in i was registered and send to ld. the nurse checked me and said i was 7cm dilted. no time to waste. i asked for pain meds but she told me they have to register me and wait for the doc. so i was moved to a delivery room. they did not even have time to start an iv. i asked to use the bathroom and was told they will not let me go incase i push out the baby. the nurse asked me to lay down but i was in pain i told her to wait for the contraction to end. lol my water broke. the pressure was so intense. two nurses helped me to the bed and the nurse said, there is your baby. what a happy ending a little boy.

Hi ladies - I've been stalking this board for a few weeks now and finally decided to take the plunge and post. Congrats to all the new mamas and babies this week - so many births and it is only the first week of the year! I'm looking forward to sharing the pregnancy journey with you all in 2012!

We did IVF with donor eggs back around Thanksgiving and found out the first week of December that it worked and I was preggo! My betas came in pretty high so we were thinking twins might be a possibility and then we went to our first U/S right before Christmas and found out we are having TRIPLETS  - all 3 had heartbeats that day!!! We are 8 weeks 2 days today - so still very early. Due date if it were a singleton would be Aug 15 but they are telling us to plan on July.

We are SO excited, now that the initial shock has worn off, but are definitely a bit scared with the potential complications during pregnancy - so we have been taking things pretty slowly. So far I have had some spotting a few different times but the doctor's office doesn't seem concerned at all - they said the uterus has to grow a lot with triplets so it is expected that I will bleed. Still freaks me out though - just happy NOT to see any clots.

I've had weekly U/S and everything has looked great - the babies are all growing at about the same rate and have healthy heart beats - we got to hear them last week and this week. My fertility clinic would only release me to a perinatal (no ob because high risk with 3) so I found a perinatal group and have an appointment with them next week. At my U/S appointment today the fertility clinic released me so I won't be going back there again - just to the perinatal.

On sharing the news... With seeing so many family members over the holidays, we did share our news even though it was very early because we don't get to see our family in person too often (many are scattered over the country).
Question for you ladies - at what point did you/will you tell your employer?

Kbillsy: I am a teacher and had to have other teachers cover my class when I had ultrasound and blood tests.... My principal knew we were doing IVF, so thus she knew as soon as I got my first beta... But I know lots of mamas at my school waited until the second trimester...

Dallas- what a scare! So glad you made it through and everyone is okay. The babies are perfect!!!

Nwquiz- you are one tough mama! To think you were in active labor all that time! Great birth story. So glad you took the time to share. I know firsthand how hard that is once the little one arrives.

LYD- way to go on the beta! And the doubling time is just fine. Those betas are measured so finitely that a difference of a few hours is truly no big deal. Thrilled for you mama.

Smoon- she is amazing!!!

Welcome to our newbies! I'm on an iPhone and just had a baby so it will be a bit before I can give you a proper welcome.

AFM- Evelyn Gail arrived via c-section yesterday at 8:41 AM. She is 6 pounds 3 ounces and 19 inches. She is breastfeeding like a champ and came out of the womb rooting! It's amazing and I love it. Good story on the c section and pictures to follow later. Everyone is thriving and all went very well.

Does anyone know with twins, do you get two diaper bags? Or do they make bigger ones for twins?

I don't think that you want two diaper bags... It will be tough enough to lug one around when you have two babies. I have a single baby and my standard diaper bag is plenty big. When our new baby comes, there will be plenty of room for both of their things in the bag. When you go shopping for a bag, you'll see that there are a variety of sizes and styles to choose from.

Word of advice: Try to choose one that isn't too girly or outlandish for your husband. My hubby does a lot of bag toting duty and is thankful that the bag is subtle greens and greys. I can imagine that with twins, your hubby will be dragging the bag around quite a bit.

Okay- so here is how I ended up having a C-section...

You may recall that I was super nervous that the plans for my induction were going to change a THIRD time since our game plan had been changed by the various Docs so many times. Well Thursday morning we had an ultrasound in order to ensure that the fluid levels had remained relatively normal. Lo and behold after three bleeding episodes and at least 10 ultrasounds we finally found the cause of the bleeding. The ultrasound tech Thursday was actually able to move the baby's head off my cervix and what did we find? PLACENTA!!! Turns out my low lying placenta was actually marginal placenta previa.

I was certainly relieved to finally know the cause but was also concerned that knowing what the culprit was the OB on call would want to continue to wait and monitor. But alas, the OB felt very strongly that it was a reason to move forward quickly as they worry with previa that you will go into labor and bleed heavily. So it was set...we would NOT have an induction and instead would have a c-section on Friday morning at 8:15.

And boy am I glad we did! What we found after the doctor delivered our amazing little girl was a placenta with previa and also a very large clot that where a portion had torn away from the uterus. The doctor told me that someone was watching over us because had we induced we most certainly would have been in an emergency situation. Wow! All this time and so many opportunities and we pick this up the day before our induction. Just like every other aspect of this pregnancy it was nothing short of a miracle.

Come Friday I had one more scare when the nurse took my temperature and I was running a fever! I had been nursing a cold since the 29th with a bad cough and sinus congestion but no sign of infection until the morning of the c-section. After talking it over with the doctor she felt the risks of waiting were higher than the risks of delivering with an infection, especially since Evelyn had been receiving my antibodies since I got the cold 8 days ago.

Finally it was full steam ahead! I was really calm and DH was spectacular, especially when they told him to look over the screen as they pulled Evelyn out. We hadn't expected that and I was so worried because this is the man who turns ghost white during vaginal ultrasounds. He looked though and is glad he did. He immediately began crying and so did I. She quickly began crying perfectly with her 37 week old but mature lungs. It was remarkable. They quickly cleaned her and did the Apgar tests and then brought her to Mommy for kisses. I cannot explain what that moment felt like and I have never been more purely happy in my life.

When they brought her to me she was already licking her lips and rooting. A very good sign for an early baby! Sure enough when we went to recovery she latched right on the very first try. It was so magical! So far I think breastfeeding has been my favorite part. I could breastfeed all day long!

DH has been simply fabulous taking care of her as I healed. She has been a very good baby and the nurses have nicknamed him "The Baby Whisperer."

I never would have guessed it since I have a well researched birth plan that I started in July, but this birth experience has been everything I had hoped it would be and even more. Sure, the plan went completely out the window with the complications and the C-section, but it was still a beautiful birth and an incredible moment supported by loving people and caring staff. I wouldn't trade it for the world as it brought our dear sweet Evelyn Gail safely to her family.

And here we are!

Alisa: What a beautiful picture! You look so happy. Your Mother's Day baby has come full circle and you're officially a Mom now - how wonderful. What a story too *whew*, I'm glad that they took good care of you and made sure that you both came through safely.
