Thank you Ryann!

Also, she stunned us yesterday... She STOOD UP! She actually pulled herself up into a standing position and maintained it for about 30 seconds (she was holding on to my foot). It's amazing how fast they grow up.

Wow Barbara! What a big girl!!

Which brings me to a question....Neither of the twins will bear any weight on their legs. They will be 6 months next week, 19 weeks past due date. Should I be worried? I keep giving them the opportunity, but only Bella has shown any interest, and even that was only once. We have an appt of the 16th, so I'll ask then, but thought I'd throw it out there!

Ryann: We've been using an activity bouncer for a while now and I think that has helped Brooke get the hang of her legs. At first, she was too small for it so we put a towel in with her to brace her and a folded towel under it to help her feet reach. Perhaps an opportunity like that might interest them into checking out what their legs can do.

Thanks Barbara. They go on one every day, but kind of fold their legs backward, or just let them hang there.

Hey Everyone. guess i can join the parents board since i am finally one. been really busy since Jake was born in November. its great being a mom though. Anyone have any good advice the best way to wein off of pumping. I never really did breastfeed. just pumped. Now i am trying to quit. Wish i could do it longer but want to get my body back on track to we can TTC again.

Here are a few pics of my little man. they were taken just last week. He was 8 weeks this past friday. last time he was at the dr's which was 2 weeks ago he was 13lbs. We go back to the Dr's next week so it will be interesting to see how big he is then.

I found a nifty tool to create growth charts for babies:

http://medcalc.com/growth/

I entered Brooke's measurements from her last doctor's visit and the chart agreed with the values given to me by her doctor. Our Ped gives us the measurements written down but only verbally gives us her percentiles - if I don't remember them, now I can generate them myself! Awesome.

Chris-Jake is gorgeous! I pumped for 4 weeks. I just started going longer between pumps, stopped waking up at night to pump and then it just stopped. At 2 weeks I decided I would stop at 4 weeks, so I weened over 2 weeks. On my last day I just stopped and never leaked or hurt or anything. The last 3 days I only pumped once. Good luck!

My twins are 8 days old and I was hoping to pick your experienced brains for a couple of questions I have. Avery and Ethan seem to have poopy problems. Sunday Avery hadnt pooped since Friday so the dr told me to give her a glycerin supp. I did and she pooped..... only once. I repeated it on Monday, one poop again. Today is Wed and she hasnt pooped since the one on Monday and Ethan hasnt since Monday either. Any suggestions? I am giving the babies Breast milk 75% with about 25% supplemented with Similac. Could it be the formula? Should I recall the dr or any other suggestions? I thought that breast fed babies poop with almost every feeding. They have plenty of wet diapers.

Next question...
Any suggestions for scheduling? They are perfect angels all day and evening but seem to think that between 2am and 4am is wide awake party time! Whenever they have their feeding btwn 1am and 4am they dont wanna go back down. I give them their pacis to soothe them, but they immediately wake up and cry when the paci falls out in their sleep. What ends up happening is they get put into bed with us around 3am or 4am and fall asleep. Its not even because they are feeling our comfort... they are lying on the mattress, just like they would be in the bassinet.

Any suggestions would be of help.

Dallas: We had poop issues in the beginning too - I was full of anxiety about it. I wrote down every feeding and every diaper change so that I could show her doctor what was (and wasn't) happening. The doctor reassured me that everything was okay and that she'd start pooping soon (she did). I advise you to record their input and output so that when you talk to the doctor, they can see what they need to know.

Are you swaddling them at night? In the beginning, we swaddled Brooke to help her sleep. We stopped at about 6 weeks to allow her arms and leg freedom.

Dallas: my first DS made poopies with every feeding for 9 weeks! That is longer than most. However, his pediatrician said not to worry about it. My second DS can go a few days without making poopies at all. That worried me since my first was so different. However, the pediatrician said that breastfed babies can go up to a WEEK without making any poopies! You can call your pedi and ask if they think any differently. If my DS goes more than a couple of days and seems to be bothered by it, we give him half an oz of prune juice mixed with half an oz of water. However, you need to be careful with prune juice because it can cause diarrhea which can be worse. If they are not bothered by it, you may not want to do anything and just let nature takes its course.

Hey ya'll! I am OFFICIAL! Evelyn Gail joined us a t 37 weeks via c-section last Friday at 8:41 AM. She was 6 lbs 3 oz and is already back to 6 lbs 2 oz. I am such a proud being mama!

Chris- Jake is a doll!

Ryann- 6 months already? You can't be serious!!! Adore the pics.

EOE- baby crying will catch up on personals later. :-)

AFM- Took Evie to the doctor today because she had a dusky blue hue around her mouth for the last two days. I was a little scared but not really because I had done a lot of research already to know that it could be very serious, but can also be very common in new babies, especially those that are a little early. When I called the doc they were adamant I bring her in right away. Her oxygen levels and pulses were all excellent and her jaundice is all but gone. Doc says that the blue is caused by her circulatory system intermittently having challenges taking over running her body and that it typically will last a few weeks until things normalize. We just monitor her and wait I guess. She is super pink and perfect everywhere else. Anyway, we actually went out to lunch with the baby after the appointment. We went to a Chinese restaurant in town where we knew we would likely be the only customer (it is flu season you know ). The owner bought us our lunch since it was our first day out. I ended up having to eat and feed at the table. Daddy ended up changing a diaper in the booth. It was fun! Glad we were the only ones there.

Quick post for Dallas: Regarding poops, I have been told, as Mamboo said, that anything can be practically "normal". My twins started out with multiple poops a day, but now Sofia goes 3-4 days, and yes, she has even gone one week without a poop. I don't worry about it and wouldn't risk giving her any juice or anything because their digestive systems are so fragile and not fully developed. Now, when she does poop--watch out, LOL, it is huge, but doesn't seem to bother her.

Regarding sleep, I think they can tell they are closer to you and that is why they sleep better in the bed. We end up with a similar routine. They go to sleep in crib (or swing because of Levi's reflux) and then around 3-5 am they each wake up hungry. After being fed, they often don't want to go back to bed and so usually sleep in the co-sleeper we have in the bed, or in the crux of my arm- with no blankets, etc near them for safety. I know people have different opinions and feelings about baby in the bed; I find it very sweet and a great bonding time. It really has to do with your own beliefs and comfort level.

Best of luck!! And so glad to hear yours are "perfect angels" during the day!! Both of my LO's have this feeding frenzy period from 8 or 9-11pm where all they want to do is eat, eat, eat!! :-) I think it is called cluster feedings.

Crissylove: Both of mine are on Zantac for reflux which really helps. I too wonder (and hope!) when they will outgrow it?

Question for all you Mom's- It appears I have been "blessed" by having one of those babies that sleeps constantly. And I mean constantly! She feeds well (but with her eyes closed only seconds away from dream land), soils plenty of diapers, and checks out well at the pediatrician's office...but she is almost never fully awake and aware. She will cry at bath time and during diaper changes, but that is really it. Once a day she will just hang out and stare at me/us for only about 5 or 10 minutes. I know all babies are different and the pediatrician says its normal, but it is so odd! Did any of you experience this? If so when can I expect her to wake up a little bit? Will the worry never end? :-)
