I was supposed to start my second IVF cycle today, but my FSH was too high. It was 15.7 FSH and NYU wants 13.5 before allowing me to go on follistim or menapur. My estrogen level is 57, which is normal. I had unrelated health problems so I have waited almost a year since my first IVF and was really looking forward to starting again. So disappointing, but at least the moon is full and amazing!
Does anyone have suggestions about lowering my FSH? I am wondering about different foods and supplements. I am taking some herbal supplements prescribed by my acupuncturist now...
Thanks!!

I may be wrong, but I'm not sure that you can lower it. From what I understand, FSH is the indicator of what is going on at the follicles not the problem itself.
Perhaps you can retest for the next few cycles. I've read that FSH levels tend to fluctuate and that repeating the test over several cycles gives a true picture of what's going on.

Fsh can fluctuate. My understanding though is that once it is high that is the baseline. I would work with a clinic that is willing to take high IVF patients. Dr tortoriello at the Sher institute in NY is amazing!

Thanks so much for your comments. I met with my RE and it looks pretty bleak. I am going to try to start a few more cycles, hoping that my FSH is low enough... Thanks for the NYC doc reference, I'll check that out!
