Christy - I really hope you start soon!
AFM - visit to the hospital went well last night. Thanks for all the advice. I *know* she is a toxic friend and I've been distancing from her, although she hasn't 'taken the hint' so maybe I need to do something direct. Everyone (including her) is still assuming we are best friends. I haven't cut her out of my life yet, but definitely distancing... I'm taking everything she says with a GIANT grain of salt.
The baby is cute. Small (5lb 7oz/2.6kg) but doing great. She keeps calling him "early" and saying she was so surprised how he came so early -- but 38 weeks isn't really early! She had a super fast 6 hours labor - no time for an epidural. By the time she got to the hospital, it was time to push.
We stayed for an hour last night hanging out, the 4 of us (well, 5, but baby was sleeping most of the time!). I held the little guy the whole time. The only time that was REALLY hard was when the 2 of them left to find a nurse to get a diaper and DH & I were alone with the baby. DH had been sitting across the room, avoiding the baby (he has a harder time than I do with other people's babies). He came over and started touching the baby and looking at me. That was hard. Even just typing this, I'm starting to cry.
I really hope this happens for us someday....
This morning was HELL!
Yesterday, I woke up with (what I KNEW) is a UTI. I get them alllll the time. I'm usually super good about urinating after sex, but I forgot on Saturday (ok - to be honest, I was in a happy daze and was too damn lazy), so 'just my luck' I have a UTI. I went to my regular doctor's clinic (they have an on-call doctor in early morning hours for things like this). Urine test and antibiotics -- easy-peasy, but I hate the painful urination feeling. Luckily, I got myself some good drugs.
Then off to the IVF clinic. The lines have gotten RIDICULOUS! Apparently, they are short-funded and can't hire more staff. The u/s tech also complained that most women take forever to get undressed/redressed. is it only me, but I dress specifically keeping mind that I'll need to take my clothes off and on quickly? I always wear shoes that zip/velcro instead of tie, one layer of bottoms, etc. She says it's worse in the winter because people have shoes/tights/leggings/etc... ugh!
1.5 hour wait for my u/s!
Nothing on the u/s, not even the teeny sac we saw last week. I'm still waiting for them to call with blood results and instructions. I'm betting on more waiting -- because unless the beta is lower than before, we still won't know if it's going up or down. I'm betting another blood test on Thursday --- I just hope I don't need another u/s!
I met "Rosie" for dinner last night. She is so cute with a little baby bump!

I think we are going to try to change clinics. I'm not sure I would want to if I had to "waste" cycling time, but we are stuck until March anyways, so might as well use the time.
I spent HOURRRSSS on the phone this morning, trying to figure stuff out about switching. In the end, I made appts with 2 different clinics --- 1 is the same type of public clinic like where I am now - but closer to work (I picked my current clinic because they were closest to my old job -- now the commute is a big schlep!), and the other is a "private" clinic, but I would be using a "public" doctor to do my cycles there -- ie, use the public (ie FREE) clinics to meet the doctor and do the monitoring, but the private hospital for the ER/ET (and their embryology lab). Rosie did this and had a much better experience than at the public clinics.
I have one appt on Jan 22 and the other Feb 5....
and we leave for our cruise on Feb 17!
Anyone been to Barcelona? We have an extra day there -- any tips on what to see/what to skip?

(sorry I've been slacking with personals. I'm reading all the time... just a lazy (STRESSED OUT!) bum)
