Thanks Margi! I was just about to repost the birth story when I saw you post.

Yes ladies its rue...Evelyn is here! She arrived Friday via C-section. I have been feeding and sleeping so I haven't had time to repost. you know how it is. ;-)

Okay- so here is how I ended up having a C-section...

You may recall that I was super nervous that the plans for my induction were going to change a THIRD time since our game plan had been changed by the various Docs so many times. Well Thursday morning we had an ultrasound in order to ensure that the fluid levels had remained relatively normal. Lo and behold after three bleeding episodes and at least 10 ultrasounds we finally found the cause of the bleeding. The ultrasound tech Thursday was actually able to move the baby's head off my cervix and what did we find? PLACENTA!!! Turns out my low lying placenta was actually marginal placenta previa.

I was certainly relieved to finally know the cause but was also concerned that knowing what the culprit was the OB on call would want to continue to wait and monitor. But alas, the OB felt very strongly that it was a reason to move forward quickly as they worry with previa that you will go into labor and bleed heavily. So it was set...we would NOT have an induction and instead would have a c-section on Friday morning at 8:15.

And boy am I glad we did! What we found after the doctor delivered our amazing little girl was a placenta with previa and also a very large clot that where a portion had torn away from the uterus. The doctor told me that someone was watching over us because had we induced we most certainly would have been in an emergency situation. Wow! All this time and so many opportunities and we pick this up the day before our induction. Just like every other aspect of this pregnancy it was nothing short of a miracle.

Come Friday I had one more scare when the nurse took my temperature and I was running a fever! I had been nursing a cold since the 29th with a bad cough and sinus congestion but no sign of infection until the morning of the c-section. After talking it over with the doctor she felt the risks of waiting were higher than the risks of delivering with an infection, especially since Evelyn had been receiving my antibodies since I got the cold 8 days ago.

Finally it was full steam ahead! I was really calm and DH was spectacular, especially when they told him to look over the screen as they pulled Evelyn out. We hadn't expected that and I was so worried because this is the man who turns ghost white during vaginal ultrasounds. He looked though and is glad he did. He immediately began crying and so did I. She quickly began crying perfectly with her 37 week old but mature lungs. It was remarkable. They quickly cleaned her and did the Apgar tests and then brought her to Mommy for kisses. I cannot explain what that moment felt like and I have never been more purely happy in my life.

When they brought her to me she was already licking her lips and rooting. A very good sign for an early baby! Sure enough when we went to recovery she latched right on the very first try. It was so magical! So far I think breastfeeding has been my favorite part. I could breastfeed all day long!

DH has been simply fabulous taking care of her as I healed. She has been a very good baby and the nurses have nicknamed him "The Baby Whisperer."

I never would have guessed it since I have a well researched birth plan that I started in July, but this birth experience has been everything I had hoped it would be and even more. Sure, the plan went completely out the window with the complications and the C-section, but it was still a beautiful birth and an incredible moment supported by loving people and caring staff. I wouldn't trade it for the world as it brought our dear sweet Evelyn Gail safely to her family.

And here we are!

Nancy- I just survived our first night at home and couldn't live without my angel care video monitor. It was one of the first things I bought. It tells temperature in the room, you can speak to baby through the monitor base, has a timer, the video is excellent, and the best part is that is has a dependable motion sensor that will let you know if baby stops breathing/moving. I researched monitors and reviews thoroughly and this one had the best overall ratings. Whatever you decide...I don't consider it a splurge but a necessity!

Alisa-Evelyn is beautiful!! I'm so happy for you thingss worked out. That is so scary and I agree someone definitely was up there watching you. Love the family photo. Reminds me I've yet to take one;) So happy breastfeeding is going well. :) How are you healing after your c-section?

AFM: Everything is going ok. We had a few rough nights with little man being gassy. A few times we gave him some formula mixed with breast milk at night so I could get a break but it seemed he would be gassy and miserable and would grunt in his sleep. So cut dairy out of my diet and stopped giving formula and he was good than Sunday night gave him a full 3 ounces of Gentlease and woah what a rough night he was miserable. He doesn't really cry alot but he grunts and moans trying to pass the gas and sometimes will cry out when it passes. So yesterday and last night just boob and he did awesome. Hope he continues.. He's getting so big. The visiting nurse will be coming for her last visit today I'll let you know how much he weighs. Last Wednesday he was 8.5 pounds. His one month is Thursday. I bet he's close to if not 22" long and over 9 pounds. The doctor said if he had stayed in me full term he would be about 9 pounds 22" long and she is probably right.

Hope everyone is doing well.

CONGRATS BLISSY!!! I've had you on my mind since about Thr or Fri of last week!! I had a feeling. I'm so happy and in tears for you and your DH friend. It's unbelievable how far you've come. It's surreal to think almost a year ago you were all but signing the ppr wk for adoption because the hope you having your own baby biologically was so allusive. I can recall so much of your journey to get that beautiful little Evelyn. You guys look so adorable and soooo so natural. I'm so happy. I wish I can give you a hug in person, but please except my "virtual" hug.
My lil Sagie poo latched on the first time too and it just sealed the moment for me. It is the best part. I think that's why I went from only wanting to breast feed in the recovery room from still breastfeeding 3 mos into it.
Get as much rest as you can post c-sec. You'll need it. I know you hear and read it all over the place but sleep when Evelyn sleeps...the rest can wait.
Keep the pics coming.

Here's a pic from Sage from Christmas

Crissy! You are too sweet... I have really missed you girl! Thanks so much for rooting for us. You and the family are adorable! Such a good loking crew. The Christmas pic of Sage is amazing...growing so fast already. I want Evie to stay just the way she is for a little while. I am glad you decided to continue breastfeeding. I too just love it but its because SHE loves it. Sounds like Sage is the same way. I will accept your virtual hug and return it. :-) Too bad the kiddos can't have a virtual play date too. ;-)

As far as the sleeping thing...I would do that but when would I be able to post if I did? ;=)

Kat- thanks! Glad it sounds like your rough nights are behind you. Hang in there mama.

Alisa - CONGRATS!!! What a beautiful little angel! Glad everything worked out the way it did and that you ladies are both safe and healthy.

Kat - How ironic! I was just talking to my oldest son about this tonight... Ok, so the boys were supplemented with Enfamil Newborn from the beginning since it took 5 days (!!) for my milk to come in. Brady had horrendous bouts of gas starting around 4 weeks and then the crying started. Wow! My first experience with "colic" UGH! So, I figured it was something in my diet, and took him off the stored milk they were eating at that point (around 6 weeks) and had him on just formula. Gassy, fussy, AND water and mucus for poo. Switched to Gentlease. No change. Prosobee - gas finally eased up along with the screaming, but stools were like rocks. On a whim, I put him on Similac's Isomil. Poo was normal again! Now that they're 6 months, their pedi wanted to try to get him back on "regular" formula and we had a bunch of Enfamil Infant from before. Poo was back to water within 24 hours! Oh, and the fussing was nonstop for 2 days! So we switched to Similac (regular) and he's doing great. I'm pretty sure he was very sensitive to Enfamil. Just some food for thought since your situation sounds a bit like how mine started. Hope you and your adorable little big guy get it figured out :D

Hi ladies! Just wanted to pop on with a quick update :)

The twins had their 6 month appt today. D is 27" and 17lbs12oz and Bell is 26" and 16lbs10oz. SOOO big! Bell cut her first tooth on Saturday and D cut a tooth today, so it's been a lot of fun around here (insert sarcasm!). Doc doesn't think the babies need physical therapy for the not bearing weight issue that I've mention somewhere along the line, he said we will wait til 9months. Good news! I was told I need to stop swaddling Bell and I'm NOT looking forward to that :-/ Oh, and we are going to try and get D off the MPA formula and on to regular formula. Wish us luck around here :)

First off I want to apologize for falling off the face of the earth for awhile! Its been crazy and I realized I needed to pop in and say hello.

Bliss- congrats on such a beautiful baby girl!!! Glad you are bfding and enjoying every second of it. Post more pics soon!

Ryann- glad those babies are growing sooo quickly! Sounds like they are doing great. Good luck with no swaddling and the teething.

Afm- back to the md tomorrow for another Synagis shot. DH has to work so I recruited my mom to come stay with me. Since the girls haven't been wanting to go to sleep lately she's staying with me all day and night! The girls are doing great. We have been getting some smiles and Emory even rolled over. Of course she was just mad and didn't do it intentionally, but has done it 3 or 4 times. Will update everyone on the girls new length/weight after the MD tmrw.

Blair...can't wait to hear their updates! My mom and mil were vital the first few months!!! It has gotten so much easier now I can't even tell you! Packing the kids up to run to the grocery store to grab dinner has become second nature all on my own!

Went to the MD today for Synagis injection (no fun). Harper is up to 9lbs1oz and Emory is 9lb7oz!! I was glad to hear their weights are up because we are transitioning off formula to solely breastmilk. Will try and post updated pic later tonight.

I'm so behind on all the news!

Got caught up I think! :) Happy New Year ladies. Your babies are all so very beautiful.

Marlo is being a handful...Losing my mind is taking place. We are going to the Pediatrician in the morning to see what is going on, if anything. She's stopped sleeping through the night and won't take good naps, wont eat during the day (only at night) and is a cranky booty. Not sure what is up. She is 8 months old, 5 adjusted and weighs 13lbs 4.5oz now. Hates to sit down, only likes standing and being entertained. Since her last synagis shot, she's been acting up....Hope they can figure it out.

She is stinkin cute though! :) She's the best even though she is a handful.

Mellow- so sorry to hear that Marlo hasn't been feeling good and is acting up lately. Hopefully the MD can figure out what's going on with her.

Just wanted to post a quick picture from just before last weeks UK game. I was so excited that the girls finally fit into their UK onesies!! They are growing sooo fast which makes me a little sad. They are already getting too long for newborn and need 0-3 mths!! Where does the time go?

Blair: i know what you mean about it being sad that they grow up too fast....Time moves so quickly. My little Denver grew out of newborn size a month ago or so. Now, he is starting to push the limits of his 0-3 mos clothes! It makes me a little sad. I am glad he is growing and healthy, but it is bitter sweet.

Hi everyone,

Working and trying to keep up with my life has gotten be quite behind on this board! I'm glad to see everyone is doing well.
Chloé was at the pediatrician yesterday and weighs 13 lb 4 oz and is 16 weeks old. At 9 weeks, she was 11 lb 4 oz. We took her because for some reason about a week ago she has stopped eating like she used to and has a bit of a dry skin eczema on her face and back. I don't know what to make of her eating. She's not on solids or cereal yet. She was taking 23-25 oz per day and growing fine on that. Now I can't get more than 14-15 oz in her in a day. She just won't do it! It's been a week and we've tried changing her formula to no avail (from Similac Advance to Gerber Good Start). She doesn't seem uncomfortable. Not gassy, not throwing up, normal BM's. I just don't get it. Otherwise, she's totally happy! She just could care less if we ever gave her food. Frustrating to say the least. She's never been highly motivated by food and has slept through the night without fail since she was 5 1/2 weeks old. The doc prescribed a cream for her eczema and told us to "clean her out" by giving her karo syrup in warm water. We did that, but she hasn't had her blow out diaper yet. We tried to repeat it, but she wouldn't take it. She goes back in two weeks. But for now, I am stumped! Any ideas ladies? If this goes on through the weekend, I think I'll try a soy based formula to see if she takes it better. :(
