The u/s showed two gestational sacks positioned in the right place and of the right size for the time. No fetal pole or yolk sack was seen. The OB wants to see me again in a week for another u/s, however I will have another u/s tomorrow with my RE. I'm assuming that at 5weeks/4days it's not unusual not to see a fetal pole or yolk sack?

Kbillsy, Thank you very much for sharing your story. It helps me review this matter from different angles and rise questions that I have never thought about.

Ninde, I wish more people would share their feelings about this issue. It will be very helpful for me.

AFM, nothing special to report. About the donor eggs, I will need to get more information about the procedure of donation and the chance of using my own eggs and of using the donor eggs. Furthermore, I still have genetic issues. How can I deal with a baby to whom I give birth and he/she won’t physically resemble me?

Kerri,
Talking about the genetics with using donor eggs, from the moment you see the heartbeat for the first time and then you have that special bond from carrying the baby, you'll know this is something you brought into this world and by then the rest will fall right into place You have to look at it in a different light, of course only you and dh can make that decision. Maybe just knowing that you have all this love waiting for that baby will be all that really matters? I'm personally at the point of wanting to just adopt the next child I see. lol but you will see everything happens for a reason. x

AFM: nothing exciting but a bonfire with dh, and watching the stars makes me want to wish upon one tonight.

Maria - congrats! this is great news! Does twins affect the dosage of lovenox you have to take?

Amanda - one teeny tiny good thing about our diagnosis was that sex was never part of our fertility treatments. We've gotten to retain our intimate life without any stress of TTC (since sex will never ever get us pregnant and we've known that since pretty early on). I totally understand being angry at that girl - sometimes it's just so unfair who gets to be pregnant and have babies while we don't.

Gina - I don't play online games, but my husband is a huge World of Warcraft player (which pisses me off sometimes -- he has 'raids' he can't miss, even if I'm sick, or want to go out, or anything!) Sorry AF is so heavy - I hate that!

Kala - I like your thinking - trying to fly before your daughter turns two and you need to buy her a ticket :D How does that work on the way home though? Do you have to buy her a one way ticket?

Nicole - how goes the FET?

Christy - WOW! Your husband forgot about money he had? That's amazing that you get to pay down some debt! I'm also kinda oscilating between whether fulltime or part time work is best for me. I like the distraction of full time, but it does seem like so much these days. I'm constantly saying that the IVF is really my full time job! I'm currently covering someone on maternity leave -- if she comes back full time or part time, I'll switch to part time. If she decides to stay home, I'll stay on full time. I think this is a great compromise for me. Full time for a few months now, but part time when I'm cycling (and hopefully pregnant!) in a few months.

Kerri - DH and I have talked about donor sperm (my eggs are fine, his sperm is not - hence the IVF for us) and at this point, we don't care if the baby looks like us or not (we are trying to adopt as well). Then again, we are both Caucasian - so donor sperm would be easily available. Tawainese and in Belguim? That would be hard to find, I think.

My husband moved to Israel with his family when he was 10, then came back to the USA for college. We met in college and ended up here! For religious Jews, moving to Israel is considered a very special thing. I went to a Jewish school, so I had learned the Hebrew alphabet and some basics of Hebrew, but not really enough to speak it. When I got here, I really jumped into the deep end and immersed myself! Seems to have worked, but I'm constantly finding holes in my vocabulary. Recently a discussion came up and I didn't know how to say "touch" as in one of the five senses. In fact, I couldn't say ANY of the five senses! (I could figure some of them out, because I know how to say "see" and "smell" in terms of verbs). My friends were shocked, because this was something they all learned in kindergarten :D But it had never come up before for me!

Oddly, I know more words about hospitals, treatments, etc than most of my friends

I think most sisters would be more than happy to give this kind of gift to their sister. I know I would do it for my sister in a heartbeat. My sister (and my mother) has offered to surrogate for us, but I can't ask that of her right now. (She is 21 and a junior in college. She is very religious and trying to date now. It would be SO hard for her to explain to potential guys that she is pregnant, but still a virgin!)

AlwaysAngel (can you share your name, or part of your name? I like having people's names!) - congrats on being PUPO!

Amy (kerpupples) - I started the new job really fast! They called me on Wed, I interviewed on Thurs -- they offered me the job on the spot! I gave notice to my old job and started here last Tuesday! So far so good!

Yup - we plan on living here permanently. It's a "Jewish thing" :D

Patricia (ninde) - wow - identical twins makes donating eggs really interesting from a genetic standpoint :D In the end, did your sister have a baby with her own? She also needed IVF - but for a different reason (I know your reason is male factor) - how coincidental!

Neffi - nice to 'see' you. How goes things? Any new movement on the donor embryo front? Or the adoption? I really hope something works out for you!

AFM
- nothing really new to report. I have an appt with a potential new RE today - and another with a different potential RE tomorrow. Hopefully one of these appointments will go really well!

I wasn't planning on telling the new job about the IVF at all - but I had to be on the phone to make an appt at work. I was hoping she wouldn't recognize the name of the doctor I was calling -- but she did -- because SHE did IVF with him a few years ago and has 7 yo twins! I guess this is a good thing - because maybe she'll be more understanding.

I have a LOT of doctors things this week -- 2 new REs (missing all of this afternoon because that clinic is really far, and an hour or so of work tomorrow to a clinic really close to work) and I have bw/us at my current clinic on Wednesday to follow up on my beta/ectopic (I"ll probably be 1-1.5 hour late to work). I also have to do a urinalysis sometime this week too (follow up on my UTI and 10 days of antibiotics that I just finished).

I'm trying not to stress so much... trying so hard to focus on the vacation! Hopefully when I have things lined up for my cycle afterwards (ie, I know I'm switching clinics, but I don't know the details yet and that's making me anxious!) I'll be able to focus on vacation more!

New job goes well otherwise -- not really rocket science - just basic office work. I'm learning their system. They seem impressed how fast I'm picking things up, which is good.

Leora- Yeah he was into it a bit much at first but I put my foot down and he stopped that! Now I just have him playing FB games. lol. He still plays WOW but here and there. My son is another story but he's a kid and I don't mind as long as he goes out too a lot and he does.

Sounds like you are busy!! I'm glad she has gone through IVF before too and will probably be really understanding!!

Leorirs, I appreciate very much your thoughts. It hit me really that the RE said that I am not a pure Asian. It makes me feel that I am unique in some ways. That is probably the reason why I cannot get rid of this genetic issue. As for asking my sister for donation, DH and I have very differ views on it. I have all concerns that mentioned by you and Kbillsy. DH somehow feels it is a very natural thing to consider and even the best option for us. He himself thought to give his sperms to his brother when they went through IVFs a few years ago. I then felt weird too.

It is indeed hard to find a Taiwanese donor in Belgium. I guess that the RE would suggest a donor who is a mixture between Asian and European, which may be easily available. Another possibility, we can go back to Taiwan for EDs and the IVF cycle. The problem here would be that how much time that DH can make for this treatment. Anyway, this is not an urgent issue now but in a later phase if we decide to go for DE and do have a problem to find one here.

To me, adoption is another issue, since the kind has no genetic link to either DH or I. It makes things easier. I am a jealous person; I like to be fair in this matter.

I think that language is somehow representing the environment you are living in. I use English in research work so I know some strange words that normal English speakers won’t use in their daily life. My Flemish is somehow stays at the level of everyday life such as saying hello and shopping. I think that the fact that you studied a program in Hebrew have greatly helped your language skills. I tried to study a program in Flemish but found out later that I did not have patient to finish it!

Sunshine, I agree with you on that I will find a special bond from carrying the baby and give birth to it. This is probably not a good comparison but I use it anyway. I was so afraid of touching a living, warm blood, hairy animal but I grow to love the homeless kitties that my DH brought in house. Now they are my small followers in the house. I know I will be there but I need to find a bridge to cross the gap between my confusing feelings and the satisfying feelings of carrying a baby. I want to over it since the time is ticking but I don’t want to over it blindly as well. I probably just bring unnecessary problems to myself :?

AFM, found an interesting tread “eggheads” in the General forum which discusses DE problems. It seems inactive for a while. I hope that I can somehow bring it to live again. I will make an appointment with my old REs and see what they think about this. In the bottom of my heart, I want to try again with my own eggs but I have to take our financial situation in to account.

For the rest, I will prepare for my French oral exam and two interviews next week.

I woke up this morning at 1am to pretty bad lower abdominal cramping and lower back pain once again. I went to the bathroom to urinate and expelled a pretty large blood clot and then saw a gush of bright red blood. The pain continued for a while and then subsided. About an hour and a half after I went to the bathroom again and saw more bright red blood like a heavy period. I don't know what else to think other then I've MC again. I feel quite numb right now. I guess deep inside I expected this to happen again. I don't know if I should drive an hour to see one of the on call RE's or if I should go to my local ER like I did last time or if I should just wait to see my RE tomorrow morning. Feeling so confused about everything.

Maria: I'm hoping that everything is okay. As for what to do, I'd go to either the ER or the RE right away so that you don't have to live with an unknown until tomorrow. I'm hoping that it's just a bleeding issue - several women on here have had big bleeds (especially the twin moms).
