franny - lol, ace of cakes. i forgot we talked about that!
i will definitely stick around - i am also finding the big group a bit overwhelming. :)
congrats on getting your baby in a box! and so it begins...
yes, DS is now about 14 months old. i can't just leave the extra meds and needles laying around this time around. he grabs everything and puts it somewhere else. it took a week to find the remote control to the DVD player...yeah, it was in with his books. thanks little james! you are so helpful! ;) i hope you have this same problem in 2013!

Ooooh I love this! its turning into a reuniuon of sorts.

Chris - I kept checking in to see if you had been posting but I assumed you were too much in love with the little guy to get much time to yourself. Its amazing how much time can be spent just staring at them, isnt it? Hope you are as happy as I think you are and hope that you keep checking in. Missed you!

Libby - I remember you too! It seems like it was awhile ago, doesnt it? The big groups get hard to keep up with, but its great that we all just turn up again, its like we're some odd sort of family, lol. Ummm, glad to hear that its not just me spending half the day looking for things that toddlers "help" us put away, lol. Ryan favors my hairbrush, the tv remote ( dont they all just love those?) and of course anything he fancies ends up in the strangest places! I dread the day he decides keys are fun - haha. Good to have you back and good luck to us all!

Franny - I'm with Libby and want nothing more than to hear you complain that your remotes, keys, whatever is missing. I have a good feeling about this cycle for you. Its impossible to not think of all the other cycles, but you have to. Going to DE or D embie levels the playing field and its as if you're back to your first cycle. I'll keep telling myself this through the 2ww but somewhere in the back of my mind is that awful little voice that remembers the bfn phone calls - just tell that voice to stuff it, ok? You have 9 gorgeous embies and this is going to work!! I did get a call back finally from the donor coordinator and she was very quick and basically said that she'll call me next week to set up a schedule and that I could be on BCPs for 2-6 weeks depending on how the scheduling goes. I wonder if that means the RE's planning transfers in batches like my old clinic did? I'll be a basket case if this drags into March before getting started. Well, honestly I'm already a basket case thinking that my last shot is with just 3 little 3 day embies that were slow frozen in 2005. I hate to be pushy, but the next time I get the RE on the phone I feel the need to ask what the results were with the rest of this batch. I know its not my business and i'm not sure if he'll even tell me anything but I have to at least try, you know? Ahhh, who doesnt love all the emotions that go hand in hand with cycling, lol. And if this doesnt work for me - girl, I'll have a ton of baby gear for you! Hmm, on that note I'm off to bed before I start driving myself crazy wondering about it all. Much love

Happy Sunday Ladies!

Katie-Ummm....I didn't realize you lived in the same town as DH's cousin!!! We totally need to plan a get together!!! That is frustrating they aren't giving you straight answers when you get in touch with them...hopefully they let you know ASAP for peace of mind. Positive thoughts mama...Ryan will get his baby brother or sister soon :P

Libby-I remember you as well!!! When was your baby born? Mady was on 11-27-10 so it sounds like they are close in age!!! She also loves the remote, keys, cell phones, etc and is constantly wanting to hold them and my DH hates that because they are so "dirty"!!!! I give in because it makes her happy and occupied for a little bit....we just discovered Barney (I let her start watching a little TV when she turned 1) so now I get about 40 minutes of peace and quite while she watches!!!

Franny-Ah the dreaded PIO needles...the worst!!! My clinic will let you do vaginal progesterone if you aren't using Lupron because your body will produce some progesterone on it's own since your not depressing your ovaries!! Maybe ask them about that if you don't want to do the butt needles!! So Feb 12th is the expected AF?!?! I will countdown the days for you since I'm just as anxious as you are!!!

AFM...I'm a little over 7 weeks and yes I will get around to making myself a ticker...just want more confirmation before I make the big step!! Feeling pretty good considering last weekend I had that horrible stomach bug and threw up for 9 hours straight...so small waves of nauseau throughout the day is tolerable. We are telling the rest of the family tonight so that should be fun and we won't tell friends till were closer to 12 weeks even though I'm totally showing already (I have to make a concsious effort to hide the belly)

enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Katie and Claudia, I definitely remember you both and I am happy that you remember me as well. :D

And yes it seems like a lifetime ago that we were all cycling together. I guess it is my son's whole lifetime. James was due on 11/29/2010 but he was very comfortable in there, so we had to go in and get him. I was induced with no problems and he was born the morning of 12/8/2010 (a wee lad at 6 lbs, 14 oz, ~19 inches). He is no longer wee and gets mistaken for a much older baby (wears size 24 mos cloths, size 6 shoe, size 5 diaper).

Katie - you need to get one of those remote beeper thingies for your keys, so you can find it again because Ryan will hide it. They are so efficient and quick. You should post a picture or two - I would love to see Ryan.

Claudia - it's too bad we don't live in the same city, because Mady and James would definitely be classmates. I haven't given into Barney, but we do watch Sesame Street and Elmo (god, he loves Elmo). We also got this great DVD by They Might be Giants called "Science is Real." James LOVES it. They sing about all kinds of different science and engineering type of things (like the circulatory system, the sun, dinosaurs, the periodic table, etc), but in a fun way. Don't feel bad about Mady getting "dirty" things in her mouth - she's building up her internal tolerances! Our generation was allowed to eat dirt, for goodness sake! :) I would also love to see a picture of Miss Mady!
OMG, I just re-read your post and realized you are pregnant!!! Congrats!!! That is so exciting!

Franny - i too have a good feeling about your DE!! are you planning to do acupuncture at all? not sure if that is an option where you are living now...

Re: FET in Feb.

Post by katie99 »

Wow, we had slipped so far down the page that I had to search for this thread.

So I got a call from my clinic today saying that I wont be in Feb and the next dates they can give me would be March 14-16th. So I jumped on it and told them yes. It seems weird to get travel dates instead of a transfer date, but I'm just happy to have any kind of schedule. I assume that since they expect me to be there for 14th- 16th that my FET should be on the 15th? Now I'll start getting nervous. We first called them in early Nov so I've had lots of time to think about it without anything happening soon, so no need to get nervous, but as soon as I got off the phone all I could think of was OMG, we have a date! Seems really far away though..

Claudia - How did the official telling of the family go? They must have been so thrilled for you honey! You are the miracle story that keeps so many IVF'ers going! Umm, I havent let Ryan watch Barney because I'm afraid that my personality would change - sorry, but the purple dinosaur drives me nuts. I am slowly being driven crazy by Blue's Clues, Wonder Pets and the Fresh Beat band ( whose music has invaded my dreams I hear it so much, help!) But he loooves them , so what can you do?

Libby - I know the feeling, Ryan is also huge for his age and looks more like a 2yo until you look at his face. tomorrow is the 15m Peds appt so i'll let you know how big he is after that. I know he's gained since the last appt because my shoulders, and wrists are killing me by the end of the day, lol. That sounds like a great DVD, I'll have to look for it.

Franny - Where are you? Has your job been holding you hostage again? Now do you have a set schedule yet? or are you waiting for AF, and they'll schedule you then? its hard after all this time with one clinic to get used to how another clinic does things, isnt it? I keep thinking things like "well, thats not how Dr so and so did it" Are you for sure using the dreaded PIO? I've had to with every single attempt its been the same ( 1 ml PIO and 2 Crinone per day) Now this clinic says that just 2 Crinone is sufficient and that its absorbed directly into the crevix/ uterus - but the problem is that you cant get as good of a measure through b/w because its local and not systemic. I had to take those awful shots with Ryan until I was 15 weeks and I could hardly find a spot left to inject by that point. After asking this RE twice he said if I insist on PIO he'll let me but thats more for my piece of mind - so I told him I'll go with his way of just Crinone this time. Only problem is you know if it doesnt work - I'll be kicking myself, right? Ahhh, the stress of cycling..

Good Luck to us all - xoxo

Libby Yay for joining us!! It is crazy how we all found each other again! I can't imagine going though all of this again without the support of my girls!! The new RE I am going to actually has a healing arts center attached to it, and they do massage and spa treatments and acupuncture. They gave DH and I both one free treatment so I am going to wait and use it for acupuncture after my transfer! I might even convince DH I need his free pass and go a 2nd time during the 2ww!
xoxo

claud Good luck tomorrow!!! I have everything crossed for you..although I know everything is going to be perfect! How was telling your family this weekend?? They must be in shock! haha I can't wait to hear all about it. How is mady doing? I'm thinking of you everyday! Yes AF is expected around the 12th, but i'm sure she will be later because anytime I want her to come she takes her evil time!

Katie Here I am!! Work has been crazy, I have had our company's VP of operations, and my regional manager visiting my property over the past 2 weeks and conducting full property inspections and food safety inspections. Needless to say it's been pretty stressful, and many long days. Hopefully it will calm down.
I am waiting for AF, and they just said to call on day 1 and they I will go in for my baseline, and then start my meds. I am doing both the PIO shots and the suppositories this time. I never did both before, so it makes me feel good...better have more then not enough!! Keep that lining nice and thick!!
So what do you have to do?? Stay on BCP's? I'm glad they gave you some kind of a schedule. I know you wanted it to be in Feb., but March will be here before you know it. Heck in an hour it will only be a month away, and Feb. is a short month so it's practically March now!
If I was you I would do the PIO too. Just so you never have to wonder. My last cycle I didn't do the PIO, and just just the endomitium, and it was the only cycle where I started AF before my bloodwork. So It makes me nervous now. I'll take a shot in the butt over AF any day! When you book your flight let me know, and I would love to help you out with a room. PM me and I will see what I can do ok?
Thank you for telling me that DE is like being my first cycle...It's a great way to look at it. Because I gotta tell you..the thought of another BFN is the worst feeling in the world. At least we are switching it up this time, and anything is possible!! PMA PMA PMA right? :)

AFM nothing is really going on. I am just waiting...and waiting. It's strange not to be worried or stressed. Everything is going as planned. SOOO unlike any of my other cycles..I usually have to fight with insurance companies....fight with the pharmacy..fight with my RE to get any questions answered. It's amazing how nice everyone at my new clinic is, and how easy it is to talk to someone. All I do is call...and get this...Someone actually picks up the phone!! I don't have to leave a message and *hope* someone will get back to me sometime in the next century. Maybe all the nurses and RE's go to the attached healing arts center and get free massages everyday, because they are all so calm, and friendly, and patient! Amazing!! Hopefully my embies will be just as relaxed, and want to stick around for 9 months!

*much love always*

Franny - Hurray for a clinic that keeps you relaxed and calm!! I like the idea of a healing arts center with the IVF clinic. I remember how ridiculous it was for you wrt to getting the right meds with your old clinic. Thank goodness that is all in the past! :) What do you do for work? It sounds like you manage a hotel? Hoping that things calm down for you soon. XOXO.

Claudia - soooo...how did the big family reveal go???!!! :D

Katie - wow, 15 months old! hurray for Ryan - can't wait to hear his stats. hope the appointment goes well. Your ET transfer date is very close to when I had mine for James, so maybe this will be your Thanksgiving baby?! Fingers crossed and baby dust too!
Holy cow - I just noticed that you just posted your 1200th post, Katie. You are a super poster!

AFM, just getting a little nervous to start stimming on Friday (assuming the Lupron b/w, u/s check goes okay). I am doing the same protocol as last time (Gonal-f, Menapour)...except I am two years older and have this weird feeling that all my eggs are gone. Just my paranoia, since everything went so well last time (it can't possibly go so well AGAIN, you know?). I blame the Lupron. ;)

Hi Ladies!

Sorry I didn't post sooner....telling our family last Sunday night was cute! We pulled my neice over who is turning 4 and LOVES to be the center of attention and told her to stand on the chair and tell everyone she has an announcement! Then she yelled "Mady is going to be a big sister!!!" It was cute and everyone was sooo happy! We went to the RE this morning and saw the baby (which actually lookes like a tadpole) and is measuring exactly 8 weeks and the hb was 150!!! We stop the oral progesterone and then I go back Friday for just BW and then if that looks good I'm released to my OBGYN and I have already make my first apt for February 15th which puts me at 10 weeks!!

Katie-Once you book your flight and get your schedule when to start estrogen will make this all so real!! Are you going in for any monitoring beforehand for a lining check or just get there and see what happens?!?! I can't wait to hear the stories of Chris alone with Ryan for three whole days!!!!

Franny-ummm...free messages and acupuncture?!?! HELLO!!! Definitely do acupuncture after transfer and around 5 days after transfer during implantation!!! A message and facial woudn't hurt either!! YAH for a stress free cycle so far  I never asked you what you thought of the shows on NYE... my brother ordered the sets on TV and I watched the second night which was pretty good...overall though I wasn't SO impressed with the setlists but I wasn't there so I can't say...I heard the midnight dancers from the ceiling was cool!!! We just got tix for Bruce Springstein (DH's favorite) this May so I will be around 20 weeks preggers but we have good seats so I won't feel bad if I need to sit and relax!

Libby-your toddler is a big boy! Mady is still in 18 month clothes...she was 21.3 pounds and 29 inches at her year apt so she is 75% height and 50% weight. She has been boycotting her naps the past few days which does NOT make me happy  I literally put her to bed by 5:45 since she is so tired but I need a break during the day!! Good luck on Friday and I hope they move you ahead with the stims....your eggs are NOT gone missy!!! Relax and try not to stress.

xoxo

claudia awww that's such a cute way to tell everyone!! I'm so glad everything went well at your appointment on Wednesday! Yay!! I see you added a ticker! That must mean it's sinking in now that it's real.
Of course you are going to see the boss...You are from NJ..isn't it part of your birth right? haha
I'll write more tomorrow...I'm beat and have work in the morning.

I do have a question for everyone...How did you hide IVF from your work? Last time I was doing IVF my boss and I were really close, and she actually went to the same RE as me so it was easy to talk to her, and she knew everything. This time my boss is a male, and although I do get along well with him, I just don't think I want to talk to him about it, and I also don't think he is the kind of guy who would want to know. I'm lucky that FET's are a lot less appointments and I obviously don't have to take any time off for the ER, but there will be some time needed, and I might have to be late a few days depending on when they schedule the us/bw. I would love any advice!!
Thanks :D

Claudia, I love that story! Your niece must have been so happy. And yay for your little tadpole! How exciting! I loved being released to the OBGYN - made me feel more normal about the pregnancy. Lil Mady sounds like a handful - she is really asserting herself (nope Mom, not taking a nap). :) All part of the fun. :) Oh and thanks for the pep talk! I have to keep my tendency for worst case scenarios in check...

Franny, I didn't tell anyone at work about IVF but I also have flexibility in my schedule to take days or hours off if I need to. So I would just say I was coming in late because of a doctor's appointment - no one asked what it was for. I can also work from home on occasion, which also helped. Once my pregnancy was obvious, noone needed to know I didn't get that way the old fashioned way. I guess my advice would be to just keep your boss informed of when you might be out/late as soon as you know.

Katie, how did Ryan's 15 month appointment go?

AFM, I am a go for stimming tonight. Same as last time, 225ml Gonal-f and 75ml Menapour. Lupron gets halved - thank goodness. I have a very weird sensation of deja vu (it was almost the same time of year two years ago I last stimmed). Anyhow, here goes nothing...! ;)

libby OMG here ya go is right! Stim baby Stim!! If they are keeping your meds the same as last time I think that is great news! When do you have to go back for your first us/bw? I'm so excited for you. This whole thing is deja vu for me, but hopefully it will have a different end result. Thanks for the advice about work. Hopefully it will all time itself right that I wont need to even say anything, and normally I do have a pretty flexible schedule at work, (and yes I do work at a hotel..I am the operations manager of a marriott) but of course one of my staff was just let go, and now I am covering actual shifts that have specific hours...Hopefully I will be able to time it right that those days won't be the ones I need to get bw and us done. By the time I am ready for my transfer I will have a few days notice so I can figure it out then. I'm just so not looking forward to talking about it with anyone. As it is only a few people know anything about our IVF journey, and I'd like to keep it out of the work place if at all possible. The big problem is that I am a really bad liar! haha! I am also scared that I will start crying, cause it always makes me cry when I talk about everything we've been though. No matter how much I heal..I still tear up. I am a big wussy!

Katie Whats going on? How was Ryan's check up? Thinking of you..always! :D

afm I started spotting today which is normal for me, and it usually means AF is on her way in the next few days. This is surprising, since I wasn't expecting her until next weekend. Not sure what that is all about...Maybe all the poking around in there started things early.. I am now on toilet paper watch...waiting for the official *full flow*..I'll keep ya posted! Yay!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! xoxoxo :D

Hi everyone -
Sorry I've been MIA, I've been alone with DS all week since Chris has had a loong schedule this week and by the time he's in bed I'm too wiped out to do anything. After a few days of all me all the time I have to admit I wonder if I'm crazy for wanting to try this again and if it works how will waddling around after a seriously active toddler be?

Chris - Aww, honey how will going back to work be? Its nice to get out of the house a little, but I'm sure the first days of leaving Mister J. will be so hard on you. I may not be around as often as I used to be but I could never not check in on you all- especially to see you get your DS a sibling in July! I'll be rooting you on as always! So was I right? Having the little guy home makes all those bfn calls worth every bit of what we went through, doesnt it. Thrilled for you mama!

Claudia - Aww,I love how you told everyone! That was such a sweet way to do it! You must have been released to your OB today! Yay for that ( and for miracle babies!) I love your ticker and and am so happy that you feel like its real now and not as surreal as it must have been. Ok, so Mady? take it easy on mama, ok? A little nap each day will make you feel better.. and mommy too, lol.

Libby - The appt went well, he was 30lbs and 32" so that put him in the 95% for height and 75% for weight, although I'm not sure how considering the boy never wants to eat. We've been having issues and if Ryan doesnt eat what we eat I've caved in and given him baby food, and the Ped said to knock that off right now and if it takes a week of him refusing our food, then so be it. UGH, this isnt easy to watch at all! Is your DS a good eater? I know I fed into his picky eating patterns by letting this go on for so long and and now to try and get him to eat new things is making this a looong week. He was teething molars for the past month, so I've been really lax about pushing him to try more foods - and now I regret it. We're ready to start sz 5 pampers as soon as I get rid of the maybe weeks worth of sz4's. He has a tiny hiney, I think, lol - so we were able to wear 4's until now. pj's are a 3T which are getting tight now and shoes I cannot keep up anymore, as soon as we buy them, they're too small, the new pair of sneakers are a tiny bit big at a sz 7 - this boy has some big tootsies.. Yippee for starting your stims tonight!! I'm thinking many healthy eggies thoughts for you  Wow, 1200 posts, for as much sleep as i've lost reading this forum, I would never have survived ivf without this place and the amazing ladies support here. I'm thankful to have this place - and you all

Franny - Yay for AF cooperating!! now, no teasing there and move into full flow, ok? Darn these AFs always wanting to act up when we're ready to cycle  Wow, a clinic that actually answers their phone?! You mean an actual person answers AND helps you with your questions?? What a surprise that must have been, lol. This clinic I'm cycling with while being on the other side of the country is easier to reach than my old clinic ever was. And a person answers and never a machine so far. I love that I can also send an email and get a response if I think I have a minor question, also a nice improvement over my old clinic and the voicemail hell I was always in. What a relief to know that if I have to reach them, they WILL call me back in a short while. I had to get used to that as well. I wouldnt even get into any detailed reason to miss work, I'd just say " I have a Dr's appt" and leave it at that - if they pushed for something more specific, just say "female issues" and they wont ask again. Yes, luckily FETs are so much easier as far as appts and all around. The hard part right now is for you to completely forget aboput cycling with your eggs and try to not let those old feeling seep back in, ok? Seriously, this is a whole new ballgame and theres no need to be concerned about getting upset at work. Unless of course you get your BFP call at work and in which case - they can make fun of you jumping on the desk and doing a happy dance later, ok? Dont stress this, Franny, think of it as your first try, because thats what its like - and its going to work!! Much love but Homer go sleep now ( will be falling on my face if I dont go to bed soon) - xoxoxo

I'm on the iPhone so I just wanted to type up a quick response to Franny's question about work. I didnt tell anyone at work we were doing ivf and sort of felt like I was living a double life (would go in almost every morning at 7:00 for sns) and then go to work and pretend I wasnt in an emotional roller coaster. When I did my transfer I actually had to teach that night so I really kept everything to myself. When I hyperstulated I was supposed to lead a trip to the city with teens and I had to cancel and I was vague like Katie said "women issues"! After getting pregnant with Mady I was more open in discussing my fertility issues but everyone is different and you have to do what your comfortable with!

AFis here!!! AFis here!!
woohoo! I go in tomorrow for my baseline SnS, and if all looks good <crossing fingers> I will start my estrace!
I'm not really sure what they are looking for during a baseline for an FET...anyone have any clue? The nurse (who picked up on the first ring  ) said they were looking for cysts, but since i'm not stimming why would that even matter? I'm figuring since I was just there a few weeks ago, and everything looked good..it should still look good now. uhoh...here comes the worrying! everyone pray that it's a go for me tomorrow!!

libby How goes the stimming? What day do you go back for your next SnS?
