Hi Ladies

Had my 20 week ultrasound today (at 19 weeks and 2 days). Everything looks good! What a relief. The girls are measuring exactly where they should be. Somehow they can even approximate the weight - one is 10 oz and one is 11oz. All parts accounted for and they even gave us 3D pictures of their faces. If I can figure out how to post a picture I will!

Hello all! I can't believe Grady is a week old already! My mom has been in town all week, helping with DD and DS! I have a few minutes, so here's Grady's birth story . . .

I had been having contractions the prior day, every hour on the hour. Not too intense, not getting closer together, but still pretty punctual. My mother-in-law lives about 90 minutes from us and had called earlier in ther evening to see if she should drive up to watch DD in case I went into labor. At first, I said no. I didn't want to waster her time with a false alarm. But after giving it a second thought, I called her back and she started her trip. Good thing I did! ABout thirty minutes later, I was laying in bed when I felt a "pop." My water had broken and the contractions started coming pretty fast and intensely! As soon as my MIL walked through the door, we dashed out and made it to the hospital around 2 in the morning.

As soon as we checked in, my contractions were about 5 minutes apart and as I knew it would, my blood pressure was sky high. Doctors were thinking pre-eclampsia (again!), so I had to get some blood pressure meds and a few tests, which delayed me getting my epidural. Ugh! The worst was when I was super nauseous, throwing up, and right in the middle of a gnarly contraction! After that, I did get an epidural and it was smooth sailing after that. I took a short nap, hung out, and started pushing around 9:15 and Grady was born at 10:05! Typical chromosomes, 6 lbs, 8 oz, and perfect!

Bodie, glad everything is going well. How are you doing on the weight? I was 24 lbs up at 21 weeks. I got the look from my OB. Not good I guess. I'm exercising but it's not helping much....

We- good to see you over here. I was so glad to hear that your little ones were doing well after your early scare. I think you have earned an uneventful pregnancy this time!

Def- I love the name Grady! Plus it goes so well with Grace. Congratulations.

I have a level 2 US on thursday. Wish me luck!

Hello ladies, I haven't been on much. I've been really sick with this cold. Just terrible. But slowly I am getting better. This coming Monday is my first visit with ob and another u/s. I am so worried. What if the baby stopped growing like the other twin. Now that I've seen it happen I am so paranoid. Has anyone ever heard of losing both twins like this. I hope not! I can't wait for u/s.

LYD10: I lost a fraternal twin early on with my first son. It's the vanishing twin syndrome. It is much more common than people realize because many people do not have such early u/s and find out there was a twin before losing it. My son turned out very healthy & the other baby probably had a defect that caused it to stop growing. I know I was terrified that I would lose the other also. However he was fine. (My 2nd pregnancy had twins also, but it was a completely different situation. It was a TRAP sequence pregnancy.)

I think it unlikely you'll lose both. As they were fraternal, the one probably had a chromosonal defect that is independent of the surviving twin.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!

Lyd - I hope you are feeling better... we lost one of our twins at 8 weeks... and we were heartbroken... but as other people have said, since they are fraternal twins, whatever happened to one will not necessarily happen to the other one... it's still very sad, an me and my DH talk about it every once in a while, but you still have one beautiful baby in there and he/she will be amazing!!! I found out when it happened to us that it happens in 1/3 twin pregnancies, and that made me feel not as bad... Hope you can feel better from both your cold and your loss and you can enjoy this pregnancy ASAP!!! hugs!!

Yingz- beautiful picture!! congrats!!!

Mora- amazing birth story!!! congratulations!!! hope you're enjoying every minute!!!

Bliss- How are you doing??

Bodie - So glad your scan was great!!! another milestone!!! YAY!!

Katie- how is your SS doing??? are you ready to be a mama again??? Amazing coincidence on the court dates!!! definitely a lucky number!! Let us know how everything is going!!

We- Hope your bleeding is better and WELCOME!!! congratulations on the twins!!

ttcnb- how are your babies doing??? Great for holding on!!!

tuffy - how was your ultrasound??? Hope everything went great!!!

Hope everyone else is doing great!!!

AFM - happily still here!! still on bed rest, but not having many painful contractions so very very happy!! My mom came to visit and brought many gifts and hand-me-downs from other family members!! Room is almost done!! washed a lot of clothes with mom and I think we are almost ready!! This little girl decided to sit up and is now breech... if she stays that way, cs will be the way to go and will be at 39 weeks... getting close!!! not sure I'll be able to finish my lamaze classes which finish by my 38th week...
Married 10+ years

longtimerivf- There is still plenty of time for her to turn, so you just may end up delivering vaginally. If that's the case, will they still induce you at 39 weeks? I'm glad the room is close to finished...must be a huge relief!

Lydia- So sorry about your cold & that you're feeling unsure & anxious about your upcoming u/s. I'm confident everything is fine. I hope Monday comes quickly for you. Besides the cold, how do you feel?

Yingz- She is gorgeous! Congrats again!

Alisa- Wow, I can't believe Evie is 4 weeks! Where does the time go?

tuffy- Congrats on team blue times 2! How was your u/s on Thursday? Don't worry so much about the weight. Some women put on more weight in the beggining/middle of their pregnancies, whereas other women don't gain much until the end. What do your contractions feel like? Sometimes, I get a tightening in my abdomen, but it doesn't relax. It just stays tight for like a half hour. This usually coincides when I feel a little out of breath. Exercise? Huh, what's that? I have not been able to do anything. I just try to take a walk here & there if the weather is decent.

Mora- Grady is such a cutie! Besides the pre-eclampsia scare, sounds like you had a smooth & quick delivery! Enjoy your LO!

bodie- So glad your 20w u/s went well! How are you feeling? How much weight have you gained?

Maria- OMG!!! Yay...I'm so ecstatic to see you on this side! You have been through so much! Congratulations times 2! Sorry about the injections you'll be on, but it will all be so worth it!

Barbara- How are you feeling?

Katie- I will post some pics in a bit. You need to play 13 on lottery tickets...it sure is your lucky number! So, are you ready for Tuesday?

Jen- I understand your worry & concern. I was like that probably up until I was 22 weeks. I still get worried here & there, but it's not as bad as it used to be. It just comes w/ the territory for us IVF girls! Your midwife is extremely insensitive & I'm glad you said something. You want & need this experience to be as stress-free as possible! Doesn't it feel great to start feeling movement?! When I first started feeling them, it was when I was sitting at my desk, too! It would be very random, but I did find that when I ate something sweet & fruity (clementines...love them), I would feel them. I like your name choices. For a girl, I like Brooklyn.

ttcnb- How are you doing?

DragonDad- You've been really quiet. Hope everything's ok.

Nancy- Have you had your 38w appointment yet? How are you doing?

AFM- Well, I had a little bit of a scare on Wednesday. It was almost 8:00am & I was in school sitting behind my desk. Homeroom had just started. All of a sudden, I felt my heart racing, I couldn't breathe, I was nauseous, & I was really hot! The other teacher in the room noticed right away that something was wrong. So, I sat back & just tried to breathe through it & relax. As soon as I felt a little better, I walked down to the nurse's office. She took my pulse, which was 104, & my blood pressure, which was 132/68. She had me sit in there for a little bit & when I was fine, I left. I taught periods 1 & 2, had a prep during period 3, & during period 4, I was in a meeting. I was sitting there listening when all of a sudden, I started hearing "whah, whah" (helicopter-like) noises in my right ear. Apparently, I turned really pale & everyone was like, "Are you ok?" They ended up calling the nurse, who came & got me in a wheelchair. So, of course, as she is pushing me through the hallway, the bell rings & all the kids come out of the classrooms. All I could see are looks of horror, concern, & fear & all I could hear is "Is she going to have her babies?" Of course, I'm feeling anxiety at this moment on top of not feeling well. All I could say to them is "I'm ok...just felt a little dizzy." So, when I got to the nurse's office, she took my pulse, which was 72, & my blood pressure, which was 132/86. So, they both had improved from the earlier readings. I already had an appointment scheduled at 1:45 b/c I actually called about the morning episode during my period 3 prep. Anyways, DH had to come get me b/c they said I had to go home & couldn't drive. DH picked me up & we went straight to the OB's office. By the time we got there, my pulse & blood pressure were okay & my urine was fine. These types of symptoms have been happening to me the past couple of weeks, but since they come & go, the OB said he wasn't concerned with pre-eclampsia. He listened to the babies' h/bs & they were good. He didn't do an u/s since I have one scheduled w/ the MFM department for this coming Tuesday, but he thinks that b/c their h/bs were both below my belly button, they are both face-down. So, that's a good thing; although, I know there's plenty of time for things to change. They never measure pregnant women of twins b/c it's expected that they will be bigger than pregnant women of single babies, but he did anyways. I'm 26w, but measuring at 33w if it were a single baby. They're going to start seeing me every 2 weeks, so I go back on the 16th. However, I go on Tuesday for an u/s & my 1 hour GD test. I've been fine the past 2 days, so I hope that was just a random incident & doesn't happen again!
