Dallas Honey, don't feel bad for wishing he were asleep. That is normal and common when they cry a lot. My own son (2nd son) had some issues with that at the same age. My pedi said that spitting up alot is reflux. That is common. However, when it is causing pain is the issue. We came to realize it was gas causing our son's issues. He makes a lot of stinkies. We switched him to soy when he eats formula, I try not to eat things that upset his tummy, when holding him we don't put him on his back, we burp him well and give him gas drops. There are also exercises you can do with him to help him pass the gas. It does get better as they get older though. I'm sorry you are having a tough time of it. I don't know if any of this will help you or if it is the stomach acid causing the pain. I just thought I'd offer what I could. Good luck.

HI All,

Chloé had her 4 month appointment yesterday. She weighs 13 lb 10 oz and is 26 inches long. She's tall like her 6'5" daddy. :D She's eating much better thank goodness and we no longer have to fight with her to eat. We are starting cereal today and will move to stage one foods in a couple of weeks after she masters cereal. I got her to take a few mouthfulls of cereal but she wasn't opening her mouth for them. I took the opportunity to shove it in when she would make noise. After a while she started to cry and fuss, so I ended the feeding. I hope it goes better in the near future!

Other than that, she's just such a happy happy baby. Almost never cries. Even got her vaccines yesterday with just a wimper. She laughs and smiles every time you talk to her. You'd think I must be the most hilarious person on the planet! She loves her Jumperoo too and will bounce around laughing for a half hour or more. She also loves her Baby Einstein DVD's and pays super close attention when I play them for her. Sometimes twice! I can get a lot done when I'm home with her that way. We do a lot of "tummy time" and we are practicing sitting up by just her holding my fingers in front for balance.

She's always been a great sleeper and has slept through the night since she was 6.5 weeks old. I think she's starting to teethe since she chews on her hands, my hands, blanket, Sophie, or anything she can get into her mouth. She is also drooling more and we are keeping a bib on her most of the time so her clothes don't get soaked.I have to put vaseline around her mouth to keep it from getting chapped. It works well!

Dallas -- Hang in there.... maybe Ethan is having gas pains or a little reflux that is making him uncomfortable. Try a little simethicone in his bottle and keep his head elevated when he lays down. We used a crib wedge available at any baby store and about $20. I'm sure you already got them... but I ordered my birth announcements through Shutterfly and they were beautiful. The 5 x 7 size is on very nice cardstock. I had two $20 coupons so I basically just paid shipping. The coupon's are pretty easy to get. I think I had gotten one at the hospital from the photographer who did the hospital pictures and one from Motherhood Maternity when I bought some clothes a few months before she was born.

Leora -- Hi hun! I am so sorry you are going through this m/c that is dragging on. But, I have total confidence that you will be here soon on this side of the boards. Your vacation sounds wonderful. Relax, have a great time, then come back and get pregnant! Miss you!

Thanks ladies! You were right... its reflux. I took him in and they put him on Zantac twice a day and changed him to soy based formula for my supplementing. And I am to continue with the gas drops as I was doing. I have already cut out dairy from my diet. She said he has the "classic reflux symptoms" and Avery is starting with them too, so she made the same changes for her as well. Hope the med starts helping soon... bc mommy does not like feeling so helpless.

Oh Leora...it will work for you I just know it. Sorry you are dealing with the mc. :( You truly deserve to have an easier time of it! Enjoy the time away and keep those spirits high for when you return. Prayers, hugs, and love!

Dallas- no guilt allowed! Your LO needs sleep to develop as much as he needs active time. Glad it sounds like you discovered the problem. Hope it helps!

Lou- am I remembering correctly that you moved Chloe into the nursery pretty early? We moved Evie out last night at just a day shy of a month old and it will make me feel better to hear from other Moms who needed better rest than what they could grab when the baby was rooming in. Why did you make the move?

Mora- Yay for being on the other PAT board!

Happy Bunny/Mamaboo- how are those cold sores holding up? I think of you guys almost every time I cover our little one with kisses. :)

AFM- I was worried about supply because I haven't been able to pump a darn thing. Well I took Evie to the per yesterday and discovered she has gained 18 ounces in only 6 days! She went from being in the third percentile to the 34th percentile for her actual unadjusted birth age in only one month! I think all the noises she has been making are growing pains! :-)

After a long debate with DH and a talk with the Doc we moved her into the nursery last night and I have to tell you it was as wonderful as it was difficult. We ALL slept better...Evie too. I can't believe she moved out so early but all of her grunting, wiggling and crying literally kept me up all night two nights ago. So I took her to the ped just to make darn sure she checked out ok prior to moving her out. As I suspected she is in perfect health. He thinks its a food allergy so we are starting by eliminating dairy. But I think its already better and that she is sleeping more soundly without us in her room!

I can't believe she is a month old already today!

Bliss -- We moved Chloé out of the bassinet in our room to her crib in her room at 2 months. She was a peaceful sleeper but we didn't want her to get too used to the bassinet that she would quickly outgrow. I also wanted her comfortable in there before I went back to work. She was sleeping through the night so it seemed to be a good time to do it. We didn't want any issues with her not wanting to nap or sleep in there if it went on too long! I think you did the right thing. You're using a baby monitor, right? We have a video monitor and now she's started teething we hear her knawing on her hands half the night! But when we peek in on her, her eyes are closed so I think she's doing it in her sleep.

Bliss - We started Jake out in his own bed from day one. His room is right across the hall from us. Even though he wasn't in the same room, he could still keep us up all night with the noises he makes. its grunting and snorting and sometimes just crying out for a second. we would think he is awake and would go check on him and he is still sleeping. around 6/7 weeks we started letting him sleep on his belly. at first it was just during the daytime hours but now its all the time. He sleeps so much better on his belly. We still hear some grunting but it is not near as much as is when he is sleeping on his back.

Good news, cold sore is gone! The second time, I had just over reacted, no cold sore developed! Yea!

I'm confused, I'm spotting like I am goint to start my period. That is odd because last time, I didn't get one until a month after I stopped nursing. I am still nursing and producing milk. Hmmm...

Our little one sleeps in the living room right now with one of us on the sofa. He is sleeping through the night for the most part in either his bassinet or swing. I won't allow him to sleep on his stomach though because of the risk of SIDS. He does like to be swaddled though and he does get to sleep some swaddled as long as the blanket is no where near his face.

Dallas and newquiz,

My little Chloe is having gas pain as well. She cries and her face turns red and pulls her legs to the stomach every time she is trying to poop or pass gas. Ped recommended Mylicon, just put a drop in the formula. I also stopped drinking milk and completely cut the gassy food from my diet since I'm partially breastfeeding. We switched her from Enfamil newborn to Enfamil gentalease formula which is suppose to help relive the gas pain, and we keep her in an upright position while feeding. With above, she's still having pain passing gas but it seems in less intensity.

I know it's so hard to see the little ones crying in pain and we cannot seem to help. :(

yingz- it seems the gas pain is a common problem for most babies. well mine had gotten better with time. but i think we have a mild case of colic as well. in the middle of the night out of the blues this lil man starts screaming out of his lungs then stopes and goes back to bed. lol things babies do.

We started Chloé on cereal on Feb 1st and she does well with it but I can tell she doesn't like the taste. I tried the rice cereal... it does taste like wallpaper paste! So today I pureed some peas and mixed it in with the cereal. She LOVED it! She was diving for the spoon and screeching if I didn't feed her fast enough. It was just so cute. Here's a pic... just thought I'd share.

Dallas,I was also told that Zantac only works for half the people. So if it doesn't work ask for Prevacid. My DS was on Prevacid.

Hi all!

Gosh, I haven't been on here for a while. Baby Athena has been a handful lately. I think she's teething. She's always crying it seems like and is inconsolable most of the times. Poor girl. I got her the hyland's teething tabs, which helped somewhat for the first day, but hasn't worked so well for the last couple days. We're getting ready to move to our new home in the next couple weeks, but it's a challenge to find the time to pack. Today marks the 1 year anniversary since we got the BFP! :D

So much to report, but no time. Hope to be more active soon..

Congrats to all the new mommies!!

Lou - Chloe is soo adorable!!!

Here's my little peanut
