Thank you so much guys! I am still in shock!!! I really was expecting a negative and was preparing myself for that.

I found out that my first beta was 171. My second beta will be on Wednesday. I just hope everything is ok in there and we will see a heartbeat on ultrasound. I also get scared about birth defects since I am 42. Man--the worry just never goes away! But I feel so lucky to be pregnant.

Sue, huge congratulations! How awesome. Transferred one and it worked! Yey!

Sorry, I haven't been on as much. We are going thru genetic testing now and I am freaking out about that. Had a vanishing twin, so we can't do some of the tests because the bloods are screwed up.

Sue: You have an excellent beta... Very strong number. I'll be watching for more good news.

Lyd: I get what you are saying about freaking out about the genetic testing. My NT scan was great but it turned out that my blood work was bad. I almost had a melt down when I got the call. After much research, I went back to see the doctor just so that I could ask questions. Turns out, my blood work didn't suggest Down's like he seemed to suggest on the phone, the blood work just didn't make any sense. Both the high risk doctor and my OB reassured me that all looks great. I declined the 2nd trimester blood work and am only having the ultrasound.

Sue - HOORAY, BFP!!!!!! So, so psyched for you. Yes, it is early but you've passed a big hurdle.

Barbara & Lyd - are either of you considering an amnio? My clinic recommends them even with the PGD we had, but they scare me. I'll do the NT scan/bloodwork and very hopefully won't have to go any further than that.

AFM - had my second U/S today. Both twins look good - 2.0 and 2.2 cm, and heartbeats were great. Going to start weaning off meds tomorrow, thank heavens. My RE actually doesn't do another ultrasound so we may not get another peep at them for a bit. I've made my first OB appointment for 2/28.

Kerpupples: No, I'm not considering an amnio. Even though my doctors brag on the safety and low risk of the amnio, I'm just not comfortable doing that test.

Hi Ladies!
Sue, I am still just so happy for you! I know it starts a whole new set of worries to have the BFP, but it's definitely a step in the right direction!

In terms of Amnio, I don't think we'll consider that unless the sequential screen shows something abnormal. It seems like double the risk with twins.

Lyd, how are you doing? Did they recommend genetic testing after the vanishing twin? How are you feeling about the vanishing twin? I have to be honest, after I heard it happened to you (and again, I'm so sorry it did), I starting obsessing about it and researching it a bit. I could not wait until our next ultrasound, which was today.

Kerpupples, I'm glad that everything is looking good with your twins. That is definitely exciting. How have you been feeling?

Barb, how are you feeling? Are you starting to show more and more? Have you felt any kicks (I know it's still early for that)?

AFM, had my first OB appt with a MD at my clinic (I saw the midwives with my son before). Before the MD appt, we had our 12 week sequential screen ultrasound. It was amazing to see both babies, hearts beating and arms and legs now moving. I am so happy right now! The sonographer thought that there's a good chance that Baby A is a girl (and possibly even Baby B). It's so crazy to think about having a girl after our son. I had a feeling it was a girl/boy set of twins, so we'll see if it ends up being 2 girls at our next ultrasound. Unfortunately, they couldn't see the transnuchal measurements well, so they didn't get to complete that part of the sequential screening. I still had the blood test, so hopefully those results will be normal and I won't worry about it too much. We'll just have to see. The sonographer mentioned that it's pretty difficult with twins and ours were not cooperating by being at the right angle. After the ultrasound, we had the WORST appt. with the MD. She introduced herself and then asked, so it looks like you only have one placenta? We questioned her and then she wasn't sure what she saying. After that, she kept on giving us answers to questions we didn't trust. When I asked about exercise, she recommended no exercise!! Have any of your OB MDs said that to you guys? I'm going to talk to my clinic about her. I would never want this doctor to perform a c-section on me; I totally wouldn't trust her! I've never felt so strongly about a physician being incompetent before...it was so strange!

I am definitely moving into maternity clothes now...I only have one pair of regular pants that I can still wear.

I hope you ladies are feeling good! I love hearing all of your updates:)

Alexis--that is so wonderful you saw both babies with strong heartbeats and arms waving!! How exciting and reassuring. But that Dr sounds horrible! I hope you are not stuck with her?

Kerpuppies--so happy that you also have two strong heartbeats!! Did you also see hand and legs waving? Congrats on getting off the drugs--that is a huge milestone.

LYD~I hope they are able to complete your genetic testing so you don't have to worry anymore.

HappyBunny--glad things are going smoothly for you and the bub.

AFM I am kind of freaking out. I just read on the internet that 50% of pregnancies in woman aged 42 miscarry!!!! YIKES. I wish I had never Googled that!!! So scared now. Why did I have to go and read that and make myself crazy?!

Alexis - i am so glad you had great scans at your us today. that's always so reasuring! dont worry about vanishing twins. you are at 12 weeks now - they are both keepers!!!! so sorry about your crappy MD appnt. she is crazy to reccomend no exercise. defnitely try other docs instead. my OB is very much pro exercise. she says its the only thing found to help eleviate pregnancy symptoms. i guess with twins you have to be a little more careful - but that's not till later - till end of 2nd beginn of 1st trimester. i would defnt look for another doc i nlight of her comments. who was your OB the first tiem around? why arent you using her again?

Sue - stay away from the internet. its evil! i find that websites sometimes put sensationalist stats on tehre just so people keep reading and their advertsiment dollars keep poring in.

Kerpupples - we are seriosuly considering an amnio. but first we'll see how much we can learn through teh non-invasive testing like nucal and blood work and this materniT21 test ( which is new from sequenom) and possibly QUAD testing later. anyway we should know a lot more on thursday when we do nucal and maybe get sequonom test results back and talk about everything with my doc. She is excellent and i trust her recommendation.

Barbara - thank you for always beig so positive and supportive! your babies are going to be so close together! i think that's great - playmates! i have a friend with kids a year apart. they play real well together.

AFM - looking forward to my nucal us on thursday! i am 11 weeks today.

LYD - thank you so much for mentioning the materniTI21 test - I had no idea it even existed. I'll be sure to ask the perinatologist about it when I make the appointment for the NT scan. Hope yours goes well today.
