Hi ladies -

Leora - glad to see that your procedure is behind you and you can go relax on vacation now!

Blue - huge congrats on BFP! looking forward to your nice beta tomorrow!

Kerpupples - congrats on teh first vomit :) sorry - that must have been very unpleasant.

Antonia - nice to see you here again!!!

Ninde - only a few more weeks till your meds start. yey!

Sunshine - glad things are moving along with your clinic. spring will be here before you know it and you get to start the cycle!

AFM, had my nucal U/S today and it looks good. the nucal fluid and the nasal bone measurements are good. although this is encouraging we still have a few more tests to go - when you get into your 40s, like me, chromosomal abnormalities is definitely something real as opposed to a remote possibility. We are still waiting for the results of the MaterniT21 test for down syndrome - hopefully that will come back negative!!!! should know within a week. i am back in 4 weeks to give blood for QUAD test - which together with the nucal measurements will tell us our odds for chromosomal abnormalities. so i wont know if i am "in the clear" so to speak for another 5 weeks. but keeping my fingers crossed it all continues to go well. No U/S at my next visit - just listen to heartbeat, talk to nurse practitioner and give blood for the QUAD test.
Other than that - i am still wearking my regular clothes, albeit , with the button moved to the longest setting. Still havent told anyone about pregnancy except close relatives and my boss. i wish we could start telling - but i really want to wait another 5 weeks till the QUAD results come back - or at least till MaterniT21 results comes back.
since i have hypothiroidism ( since my last pregnancy) i have antibodies for my thyroid, which apparently can cross placenta and impact babies thyroid a bit. but apparently that is quite common in women - hypothorodic women get pregnant all the time - and that is ok for the baby.

And im not sEvening ladies :D

Nicole: that is definately looking like a definite line!!! What time is your beta?

Christy: any sign off a day off? It really sounds like both of you are doing all you can around the vitamins, etc

Anton: im really glad you did what you needed to do and that your dh was so supportive. I really think we sometimes have to do exactly what you did and realize our heart needs it x

Bodies! Thank you, how are you?

Leora: lol, no rebounding isnt an irish term :D its an exercise class on a mini individual trampoline. Really high cardio but low impact. Im so glad you have had the procedure done. And i wish you both the best holiday :D im not quite sure what lupron does, it might be just a different brand name? I start my downregulating nasal spray on march 1 then probably start stimming injections (that one is pure on here) around the 15th with transfer sometime around the 26th.

Ker: you are right, I think i used up the boards supply of exclamation points :D im not sure why I found myself so wound up by your post. I think you are right though, culturally we may be different given our history with religious situations we have found ourselves in here. Certainly the divisions are more apparent in the north than the south but they are here too. For example when we got married just under 12 years ago, dh's uncle and aunt didnt attend. We found out years later it was because im catholic. And we are based in the south. I couldnt believe it. And yes, irish catholics would be roman catholics. But im pretty sure sinead messed that up for us beautifully! With all the abuse scandals though the roman catholic church here is fading fast. Thank ylu for your apology and im sorry I reacted as feistily as I did. And really sorry about the vomiting! Keep well.

Jayne: really good to hear from you but im so sorry about your mum. I hope you will find comfort and strength and grace in your ti e together and i will keep you in my thoughts.

Gina: hope the retirement papers get a positive reaction :-)

Lyd: I hope your tests go well. I know it must be scary. What's a quad test for? Im just a couple of months older than you so i know what that worry is like.

Afm: went a whole day without meat, it felt even more u usual than to go without sugar!!

I'll write more later once I'm off the iPod and on my computer. I'm glad you can see the line. Got a faint line on an FRER today. You know you've gone nuts when you buy hpt on your lunch break then hide in the teacher bathroom with a styrofoam cup, take the test, wait, hide it in an envelope, then walk back to the office as if nothing happened. Then you sneak peaks at it while hoping no students walk in! Nuts!

My beta is at 7:30am. I'll have the results by noon. I'm pooped. Nap time for me.

Jayne- I'm sorry about your mom. I'm glad to see you back though.

Lyd- Glad the tests came out well.

Bodie- Thanks. I'm cautiously optimistic. My FRER lines today were super faint but definitely there and they weren't yesterday. So I guess I should be happy with the improvement.

Leora- SO glad that is finally over for you. I can't wait to hear about your trip. Enjoy your time with DH. You both deserve it!

Patricia- Yeah for making it a whole day without meat! I could do that but the sugar withdrawal is what I really struggled with. I still have it but have cut way back. Are you allowed to eat eggs? Egg whites?

Anton- You are blessed to have such a wonderful DH. I'm glad you took charge of your needs. Many people can't understand why that was necessary, but you can bet that we all do and your DH does as well. I'm glad your friend took the news well and even acknowledged that she didn't make the best decision with asking you to do that job.

AFM- I'll post as soon as I have beta results tomorrow. Keep your fingers and toes crossed. :D

DH and I went on base to the PX here (shopping for military) which is basically a mall it is so big. Anyway, they have this furniture store where everything is made in Belgium. Nice stuff! We've bought some things from there and was checking on a table we want. We always chat for a bit with one of the girls that works there. Her husband works in the building w/hubby but not with him, but he knows about his job and who he works with.

Anyway they found out New Years day they were pregnant. It came up because who her husband works with was trying to bring him down, and he wasn't letting it because she had an ultrasound today and he just saw the pictures (he couldn't get off work to go) and they had been trying for 7 years. So then DH brought up how long we have been trying......so come to find out about 25 minutes from here, is an IVF clinic she went to. Happened her first try. It was the first time I've ever met someone face to face that had IVF done. The price wasn't bad, after the exchange rate it was $5,000 and they have great results. She's only 26 and they put in two but she has one on the way. Now the meds are 1500 Euro which is about $2,000, so we are looking at $7,000. I believe it is one try but I'll have to find out more info. That really isn't too bad. I can look online for the medications else where and see if they ship here, could end up being cheaper.

It was just nice meeting someone like that and hearing/seeing the success right in front of me. It made me tear up! I really needed that. It was inspiring!

Hello Ladies,
sorry for crashing, i know i've never posted here before but i always admire the way how u all know each other and how u all manage to follow each other's journeys.

im on a fresh ivf cycle and i need to ask you, from ur experience with ivf, in different clinics, what is the amount of pregesterone that ur RE descibes in a fresh ivf cycle?? and is it pessaries or injections or both??

in on 600 mg of pessaries per day and NO injections (PIO) and im afraid if this isnt enough or if i need to higher the pessaries dose or to do PIO..

thanks for any help.

Good Luck to all

Hi Reem :D welcome to our board,

I have read your other post in the forum and I was going to answer there but then I saw you posted here and here are my 2 cents…

So far, I have done 6 fresh IVF cycles and 1 FET and even thought all I got was BFN’s, I have used various progesterone ‘combinations’ through my journey…(a) 400mg prog pessaries once a day (b) 400mg prog pessaries x2 times a day + esrogen patches (c) 400mg prog pessaries x2 times a day + PIO shot + estrogen patches. When referring to prog pessaries I mean either vaginal or rectal insertion. Of course all ‘combinations’ were recommended by my clinic. It is up to your RE to decide which ‘combination’ is going to use. in general, Progesterone is a hormone that helps the baby ‘stick & stay’ in other words it helps implantation.

Even though this hormone is produced naturally by women during pregnancy….since we are during IVF we rule out the ‘natural’ way :) and we help our body by providing the progesterone hormone. Taking progesterone is an ESSENTIAL part of a fertility treatment. Even though I never had success in my cycles…so far…many friends in this board got pregnant using either one of the above combinations. I have learned from my RE and this board, that using only pessaries or using only PIO shots or using both in a cycle if you are going to get pregnant you will et pregnant. You don’t need to use both (pessaries & PIO) but you definitely need at least one. Now if this cycle is a successful one, and I wish you with all my heart that it will be! :D your R might decide that it will be better using both pessaries and PIO shots depending on your prog levels.

Actually you get to use prog pessaries until you reach 10-12 weeks of pregnancy…your prog levels will be measured and if high enough then you stop taking prog. Your body will be already producing enough & you won't be needing that extra help.

I hope I helped you there a bit and I wish you GOOD LUCK with your cycle! :D and stop worrying! Trust your doctor and if you feel you need some explanations then don’t be afraid to ask him. He is obliged to answer every question you may have.

Now a few questions for you, like, When is your beta? How many did you transfer? Did you had a 3dt or a 5dt with a blast? Are you going to POAS? Please do! We love seeing lines here!!! Let us obsessed with you! :D :D

Here’s a link I think will help you understand a bit about the importance of progesterone…
