From what one of the RE's i had said it did. She work in a huge clinic in Boston and she said they did lots of studies with PCOS and found that treating insulin resistance helps egg quality. The way she explained it to me is that when there is insulin resistance then the pituratory gland doesn't act correctly. A person with insulin resistance will end up having more testosterone in their ovaries then estrogen. Which isn't good for egg quality. supposedly treating the insulin resistance with metformin will regulate the pituratory glad and cause the production of estrogen go up. Or something like that. Hope that helps. She said i had insulin resistance, I went on metformin but it didn't help my egg quality.

To-have-fun: thanks for ur feedback, it really helps.
Did ur RE told u what is the duration of metformin should be taken before ivf in order to be effective?
to-have-fun : thank u for ur reply.
may i ask one thing ?
when u started ivf, when did u stop metformin? during stimulation ? or on ER day ?? or .. ?
thank u
I took metformin during my whole pregnancy. My Ob had me do insulin checks 4 times a day and I was on the gestational diabetes diet starting @ 8 weeks. wasn't too bad and ended up being a great weight lose plan. I ended up being 4# lighter on the day before i delivered then at my 8 week appointment.
