Julia - you are so close to Monday!

Patricia - do you have a regular OB/GYN -- talk to him/her about your concerns. S/he'll probably prescribe progesterone. I find it really strange that your IVF clinic doesn't. Mine does estrogen supplements too during the 2ww (and first 10 weeks of pregnancy) which is extra, but the progesterone is REALLY important. --- I'm sorry the adoption thing is so difficult for you too. People really don't understand that we would do ANYTHING to just bring home a healthy baby - not biologically ours, I don't mind never getting pregnant again, etc - all of which are huge sacrafices --- and adoption is just a nightmare. When the nightmare of IVF is the easiest/cheapest/fastest way to become parents, the world is really f*cked up....

HopeThisWorksM - Yay! 9 eggs is great, especially when you were expecting 7. And 7 of 9 fertilized is great. How many will you transfer? If you have 7 growing, will you try for a 5 day transfer instead?

Anna - WHAT? WOW! That's amazing! I'm so excited for you! I know someone else here had a surprise BFP (Karin? Kairen? shoot, I forget her name) while waiting to cycle and had a healthy baby. Crazy that your IVFs didn't work, but your 'might as well try' IUI did, and now a spontaneous pregnancy! Hurray!

Christy - 6 new pairs of shoes? Wow! I'm not really a 'shoe' person. I have sneakers, sandals, boots, dress shoes, slippers - and that's about it! I only go shoe shopping when one of mine wear out or break! -- btw - good for you for saying you can't go to the baby shower. So many people in my life 'expect' me to be okay with things like baby showers and birth celebrations and stuff like that -- and maybe I 'should be', but I'm not. And I have to do what's best for me. So KUDOS on rsvping no.

Nicole - sounds so nice to run outside. Where I live, it's really mountainous - I don't think I could run uphill! So far, I'm walking on the treadmill -- instead of nature and wildlife - I watch E! True Hollywood Story! :D

Maria - glad to hear the girlies are doing well - but that sucks about your MRI results! I hope your neurologist can figure something out to make the headaches stop!

Laura - congrats on being PUPO with a little girl! Enjoy your snacks and movies! (Anything good?)

AFM -

Where the F*CK is AF?!?!?!

I was expecting AF to come on Friday... now it's Saturday night and no cramping, no bloating, no spotting, no symptoms - NOTHING.

WTF?

I'm trying to stay calm. This will only put us a few days off schedule. I start my stims (hopefully, if baseline is okay, which is always is) on CD3 --- so now I'm just waiting for my G*DDAMNED period to come. Sheesh

I guess that if by Tuesday I have no sign of AF, I'll call my doctor (it can take 'up to a week' to get a period after stopping the active BCP- but for me it's ALWAYS been 4 days). I know people who were anovulatory who were cleared to start stims even without a period (the baseline showed no growing follicles and their lining was thing - and hormone levels low). So maybe I can do that. I soooooo don't want to have to take around of Provera or whatever to bring on AF -- that was the point of the BCP!

I'm so pissed at my body.

leorira11 - I hope AF comes soon. Funny how it works. When you don't want it, it's there and when you want it doesn't show up!

Ninde - Are you able to pursue both adoption and IVF at the same time?

LauraN -I hope the little girl sticks. I must have missed something. Why did you have to do a biopsy?

AFM - We're done :-) The transfer hurt but I feel ok now.

18 eggs retrieved
17 eggs fertilized
4 discarded

1 transferred (B+ grade, whatever that means)
2 frozen (B grade)
10 pending...I'll know their status tomorrow or Monday.

I am feeling so weird. Until now it's just been a long medical process. I was very rational about the chance of success. I knew it's a 50/50 chance and I was OK with that. But now that I've seen the blastocyte's picture, I am not so rational anymore. It's going to be a long 2 weeks.

Leora- Hope AF shows up soon!! They never want to come when we want them, but it comes when we don't!

Hope everyone is doing well.....Maria, Christy, Ninde and others...

AFM- I've been good. DS had Spring break but it's back to school on Monday. We stayed really busy and DH got all these days off luckily..it happened because he pulled 3 day shifts back to back the week before. Still no word on the waiver and she wasn't there Friday. This week we should find out. Please let it be signed and good to go!!

Anyone crafty around?? :) DS has to make a sword from the Roman times and we are going with paper mache! We've seen several recipes to make it but aren't sure which would be best/easiest to go by.....Any suggestions? :)

My Niece after 5 (give or take a few days) months sent me a friend invite. I haven't excepted it yet because this is about my 8th invite from her....She'll be nice and we will talk a lot then she turns on me or something happens. Then we aren't talking on there or FB friends for months and she's back again. This has happened A LOT over the last few years. Maybe I'm being immature or wrong, but I feel like she should message me first or email me to apologize because if not I'm showing her yet again she can be rude whenever she wants and I'll be right here for her to do it again. I'm always letting it go and forgetting but I pay for it. I'm just so over it! I also feel like she's doing this because her baby shower is coming up...

Leora, hoping that AF comes soon!

Hope all you girls are doing well out there!

I had the ET today. It was only a 2.5 day transfer to be exact :)

We had 4 excellent 4 cell Grade A embryos, one B, one C and one D.
We transferred 3 of the Grade A ones and will freeze the rest if they develop succesfully into blasts. Now Im in the 2WW. Praying this works :)

Leora- What always seemed to work for me to get AF was to plan something that would be totally unreasonable to do with AF around, like a nice evening of crazy yummy loving, or walk around in white shorts, pants, whatever, and DON'T have any pads or tampons around....... But, seriously, isn't it funny that before all of this IVF stuff, we would have paid for AF not to show up, and now, we would dance on the roof naked if that would make it show up so we can start. Now that we've had the transfer, I'm back on the idea that I obviously don't want AF to show up....I just want the BFP to show up on the HPT. I will do the AF dance for you, but only in my mind and heart.....I'm supposed to be staying still and in bed.......

HopeThisWorks- Congrats on being PUPO!!!! Now here's to the fun 2WW.......

Sunshine- I am a shoe WHORE!!!!! I LOVE shoes!!!!! So I was excited about your shoe purchases!!! And congrats on the interview, good luck and I'm totally sure you will get it. Although, it would be fun to have you in Texas....I live right outside of San Antonio and it's super cool here.

Ninde- How are you holding up? I would totally see if your OBGYN would prescribe you some PIO for during your next cycle....does the clinic HAVE to know? It's not like it's crack or something.

Gina- I so hope that waiver gets signed sealed and delivered quickly! As for the paper mache stuff....wow, about a million years ago (ok, honestly it was when my boys were younger, like kindergarten age) I used to do pinatas and stuff for their birthdays and then sometimes just for a cheap day of fun (I was a single mom for 11 years, so cheap was perfect for me). I can't remember what I used other than flour, water and newspaper......and it always worked. Good luck with the sword making. I used to LOVE doing any kind of craft, well, anything other than sewing, I was never good at that.

Globetrotter- Congrats on being PUPO!!!!! And yes, sometimes it's easy to be a little more reasonable, but then once they put your baby in you..... you lose your mind  Luckily mine was already gone before this cycle, so for me, even though this has been what should have been the most stressful cycle, it has been the one that I was most level headed. You asked about why we did biopsies. well, this was cycle #3 for us. Quick background, I'm healthy, have 2 kids (20 & almost 18), NO problems getting preggo with them (but then again, it was a hundred years ago). With the second one, while I was pregnant, my x and I knew we were about to get divorced, so, although I had just turned 22 (like a week and a half before his birth), I convinced the doctor to tie my tubes (I didn't want to be a single mother of anymore than the 2 I had). Fast forward 11 years and I married my wonderful DH that has never been married before and has no biological children. I went to a doctor, they said I was a good candidate for getting my tubes untied, but that with my DH's low sperm count and low whatever else it is that they look at, that our best bet was IVF and that they wouldn't even do the tubal reversal on me. Anywho...fast forward a couple of year from that exam, started IVF a year ago, Round 1, got preggo, miscarried pretty early. Round #2, got preggo, saw heartbeat at 7 wks 1 day, at 8 1/2 weeks, no more heartbeat. Did a D&C and genetic testing and basically our baby has several chromosomal abnormalities. So, we decided one more round, that was all we could do and that we would do chromosomal testing on the front end and only transfer chromosomal normal embryo's. They said the only reason for the abnormalities was old eggs (that wasn't the technical term, but that is what it meant).

AFM- sitting around being bored, knowing there is lots I can do sitting in bed and just not doing it. Watching some decent movies (In Time), and then some really not good movies (Young Adult & Mary Martha May something or another). The snacks were good, milk duds, pringles, sour jolly ranchers.....and DH made some yummy ribs that I have been snacking on today. Tomorrow we are going to meet with my family to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. And that means two weeks from today, I will be turning the big 40! Well, looks like it's potty break time and then the next movie, something called Tinker, something something....ok, I'm bad with movie names! You guys have a great rest of the weekend! I know I've missed some of you guys, and I'm sorry, I read this darn board a million times a day and you are all in my prayers.

Globetrotter - CONGRATS ON BEING PUPO! Enjoy your 2ww  (no one does, no one will!)

Gina - good luck being crafty -- I'm the OPPOSITE of crafty! I actually *made* a friend's baby present - it was a onsie (that I bought) that I ironed on a rhinestone pattern. So basically, I had to buy the onsie, buy the rhinestone pattern - then iron it. Everyone was super impressed with my craftiness! (The friend is a REAL crafty one, who bought fabric and make the bedding/curtains/bedspread for the baby's room!)

Papier-mache? No way! :D

HopeThisWorksM - congrats to you too on being PUPO!

Laura - I know! I've been trying to tempt the witch into coming -- white underpants, khaki skirt - not bringing any tampons in my purse - lots of sex --- and it's not working! :|

"In Time" sucked, but I liked "Young Adult". If you aren't, you should watch "Game of Thrones" on HBO. Also, we watched "Tower Heist" which was pretty funny and fun.

AFM - I called my RE, because Af is still a no show. He wants me to do SnS tomorrow, including a betaHCG test (ha! Ha ha ha ha ha!). Then we'll see...

After I spoke to him, I had a little (TMI) brownish-mucus, so I was hopefully AF would show up, but that was 9am, and it's now 2pm and nothing.

Oh well...

This was just one of the very very very few things I thought I had control over. GRrrrrr.....

Leora so sorry AF is being a witch...I don't know what else to suggest other than everything you are already doing. For me working out usually helped but not always. Are you still singing? I am singing Beethoven's 9th with my choir and a full orchestra on the 28th so I am excited. I have always been too nervous to sing solos (only if I had a few drinks...lol) so hats off to you singing in the opera. You must have a really amazing voice.

Julia I know the fear you are talking about when it comes to ultrasounds but try to relax as much as you can and visualize good stuff on that ultrasound. I think we always try to get ourselves ready for the worst but is there really any way of being ready for bad news? Your numbers are amazing and I will second what Leora said that you will most likely/possibly see 2 little ones on the ultrasound. I will keep you in my prayers

Blue I tried to flip back and see the post where you describe your running but I could not find it. So you run? I tried running this fall and I just can't seem to fall in love with it. I was up to 6 miles and it still felt like a chore so I admire people who have a passion for running. I myself am a huge roller- blader. I love to skate through the park and see all of the trees bloom this time of year it is so beautiful.

Hopethisworksm and globetrotter-Congratulations on being PUPO how are you girls feeling? will you be POASing? I am a POAS addict (accept this time I guess  )

Laura sorry you are bored already but its for a good cause and you will be back to your busy life soon. I remember having to stay in bed after my IVF and I too was so bored. I tried movies, books, shows....actually that is when I got into the show Tutors and it got me through I love that show. I really hope that you will have more than your bday to celebrate in 2 weeks :)

AFM back to busy life. Spotting is no more (thank God) only some crinone stuff...ugh I forgot how nasty crinone is but I will use it gladly if it helps me have a baby. I POAS this morning and the line is now up instantly and darker than the control so I am hoping things are ok. I think I will get another beta on Tue just to ease my mind. Like Julia said I am afraid the u/s will show nothing on Friday and anyways Friday is so far away. After like a million poas I think I am starting to sorta believe this happened. I guess if you go through the kind of blind infertility that we go through this is truly mind blowing. Well I gotta run and do shopping. I will check on you ladies soon

Hello everyone,

Transfer was yesterday and I am already a mess! Can anyone help with this...

1) How long does the hcg trigger shot stay in your body? I took 5000 units on April 7th. I meant to POAS before the transfer but forgot.

2)Re POAS. I read I can test 9 days after a 5 day transfer. When do you start POASing?

3)If I don't get pregnant, when will have get my period, before or after I go for my beta?

4)What is the process for a FET cycle? For my fresh cycle, I was on the bcp for a month, then Lupron-only for 10 days and then Lupron+stimms for 9 days. Is it the same process except no stimms?

Thanks!

well - AF showed up.

Now I don't know what to do. I'm supposed to go for SnS tomorrow morning to see why AF isn't here -- but now my period came.

In general, for fresh cycles I have a baseline on CD2 or 3....

Should I still go tomorrow? I think I will. Hopefully that'll be good enough for a baseline.

Globetrotter -

(1) I think the trigger stays about 10 days, but don't qoute me on that!

(2) 9dp5dt = 14dpo -- you will totally get an accurate answer by then. I've gotten a BFP as early as 5dp5dt, but more reliably at 7dp5dt

(3) you shouldn't get a period until after you stop the progesterone (I usually get mine about 4-5 days after stopping the progesterone). Then again, some people have break through bleeding while still taking the progesterone, but most don't

(4) FET can vary. Some people, who have very regular cycles, just monitor their ovulation and go for a transfer 3 or 5 days after they ovulate (depending on what stage the embryos were frozen). For me, I started Estrace (oral estrogen pills) 3 or 4 a day for about 2 weeks before starting progesterone 3 or 5 days before transfer. Some people are on Lupron too - but I don't know about that because I've never been.

Hope that helps!

Leora Yay for AF I am so happy you can start now. I have always done baseline between CD 1 and 3 so if I were you I would go tomorrow anyways

Globe please try to relax and visualize your uterus pulling the embies in (at least that is what my RE always suggested) he said that implantation is actually the uterus "taking the embies in" so visualizing it can't hurt. For me personally the trigger shot has always been completely gone by day 8 or 9 and I was able to get a BFP ( a couple of times I could actually get a bfp) between days 11-13 but please keep in mind everyone is different. For my 3day transfer I saw the bfp at 11 days but unfortunately that was a m/c. For my 5 day transfer I saw no trigger after 8-9 days and that cycle was unfortunately a bfn. I think if you POAS at 9 days post a 5dt you have a good chance of getting a valid result. I am a poas addict so I have always tested my trigger out by poas every days since transfer that way when I saw a neg I knew the trigger was gone and anything after that would be a true positive.
As for FET its actually not bad at all. I did a "natural" fet so I did not do Lupron or bcp's but I did have to trigger, and use progesterone. I think in other FET's its Lupron then Estrogen patches but still no where near as many needles. Don't give up on this cycle so soon though you will get a BFP this cycle and will not need an FET for a while :)
