Ghost: rapidly rising beta

Post by Tess69 »

Hi there

MY first beta at 16dpo was 237 and my 2nd at 20dpo = 2607. Doubling time is 27.75 hours. I had two 5-day embies transferred.

At first I was hugely relieved to NOT have a slow rising beta but now I'm worried that it might be a molar pregnancy. I have another bloodtest in a weeks time and a scan in two and a half week.

Would really appreciate your comments, especially if youve had a similar experience. I'm a bit of a 'freak out' machine when it comes to IVF now.

Tess first of all I just wanna say that I am so happy that you are cycling again and congratulations on your BFP :) :) :) I am of course no expert but I think your numbers sound really good. With my last pregnancy I had betas doubling every 30 hours and it was a healthy pregnancy so I don't think you are anywhere near a risk for a molar. Since you transferred 2 its possible that you are having 2 little beans growing in there and causing higher betas but again 27 hour doubling time does not sound like a molar.

Congratulations again

Hi Anna

So lovely to hear from you and a huge congrats to you Mommy :0)

Thank you so much. I know I'm overly concerned but it's increasingly hard to be positive when things just haven't worked out in the past.

Hopefully I'll have a baby (or two) for Xmas.

That is fast. But moles are pretty rare. Never seen one, and I've never seen any report on the hCG values for a molar pregnancy. So I can't say what their values look like. I have seen values higher than yours that were not molar.

Did you use regular IVF or ICSI?
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Tess,

I haven't been posting much lately, but I happened to see your name so decided to take a quick peek over here....congratulations!!! When do you go for u/s?

I thought that I would share that I had high hcg and rapid rise...after 5 day transfer....13dpo=240, 15dpo=653 (33 hours doubling time) and then at 20dpo=5522. I know that hcg levels can really be "normal" at quite different levels for different people and different pregnancies. I think that everything looks promising and I am so very thrilled for you.

Please keep us posted on your u/s!!!

Hi Margi

Your words of kindness and your success story really gives me hope. Congrats on your beautiful twins. I followed your pregnancy and was so pleased to see everything turned out.

My scan is on 4 May so over a couple of weeks away yet. I have betas every week though.

Hope all is well for you in Mummy world :)

Will keep you all posted on progress.

Wendy - they are making you wait until May 4th?!? Of course, the longer you wait, the more you see on the u/s, but still! If you are more than 20dpo, you must be a little over 5 weeks pregnant. You can't get an u/s for 6.5 weeks (when you should definitely see a heartbeat or two)? How far along will you be on May 4th? (Add a pregnancy ticker! )

Hi Leora

It's routine at the clinic to go to do the scan at 7.5 weeks. I might ask for it to be done earlier depending on what my beta is next Monday. Yes, it's a long wait. They are a super busy clinic and schedule you weeks ahead.

I'm exactly five weeks today. ET was on 27 March.

Too scared to put the pregnancy ticker on yet.
